7 Bible Verses on Idol

7 verses

In the biblical account, idolatry is a pervasive issue, with the Israelites often succumbing to the temptation of worshiping false gods. The book of 1 Samuel records how the people turned away from the Lord and toward idols, only to later repent and destroy them. Jesus teaches that one cannot serve both God and money, as stated in Luke 16:13, and He Himself resisted Satan's temptation to worship him in Matthew 4:10. The apostle Paul warns against idolatry in Colossians 3:5, and notes in Galatians 6:7-8 that one reaps what they sow, emphasizing the importance of devotion to God alone.

You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in the heavens above, on the earth below, or in the waters beneath.
