11 Bible Verses on Fame

11 verses

The pursuit of earthly recognition and admiration is a fleeting endeavor, as the Bible teaches that true significance is found in one's relationship with God. According to Hebrews 13:5, God has promised to never leave or forsake His people, providing a sense of security and identity that transcends human approval. In contrast, 1 John 2:15-16 warns against loving the world and its desire for fame, while 1 Peter 1:24 reminds us that human glory is short-lived. Jesus Himself cautioned against seeking praise from people, as seen in Matthew 6:1-7 and John 12:43, where He noted that some preferred human praise to God's approval.

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world.
For, “All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall,
For they loved praise from men more than praise from God.
“Be careful not to perform your righteous acts before men to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward. But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard.
Better a poor man who walks with integrity than a fool whose lips are perverse.
Better a poor man who walks with integrity than a rich man whose ways are perverse.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
In everything, show yourself to be an example by doing good works. In your teaching show integrity, dignity,
Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, outcry and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and tenderhearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you.
