10 Bible Verses on False Prophets

10 verses

The Bible warns believers to beware of those who claim to speak for God but instead promote false teachings. Jesus cautioned against false prophets in Matthew 7:15, urging disciples to recognize them by their fruit. The apostle John advised testing every spirit to determine if it is from God, as described in 1 John 4:1-6. According to 2 Peter 2:1 and Matthew 24:24, false prophets will arise and deceive many, but believers can discern truth from error by comparing teachings to Scripture and seeking the Holy Spirit's guidance.

The prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They are filling you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD.
