7 Bible Verses on Diet

7 verses

In the biblical account, God's original intention for humanity's diet is outlined in Genesis, where He provides an abundance of plant-based foods for nourishment. The Old Testament story of Daniel illustrates the benefits of a simple and self-disciplined diet, as seen in Daniel's request to abstain from the king's rich food. The New Testament teachings of Jesus, as recorded in Mark, emphasize the importance of inner purity over external rituals, including dietary restrictions. Additionally, the apostle Paul encourages believers to honor God with their bodies, as temples of the Holy Spirit, in 1 Corinthians and to be filled with the Spirit, as mentioned in Ephesians, guiding their choices in all aspects of life.

Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips. Do not let my heart be drawn to any evil thing or take part in works of wickedness with men who do iniquity; let me not feast on their delicacies.
Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat. For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe them in rags.
