12 Bible Verses on Assumption

12 verses

In the Scriptures, making assumptions is cautioned against, as it can lead to misguided judgments and actions. The book of Proverbs warns that a person who makes assumptions can come across as foolish, as seen in the statement that "a fool finds no pleasure in understanding, but delights in airing his own opinions" (Proverbs 18:2). Jesus teaches in Matthew 7:1 to not judge others, highlighting the importance of not making assumptions about people. The Bible also encourages believers to test spirits, as 1 John 4:1 advises, and to be cautious in their dealings with others, as Proverbs 25:8 suggests, in order to avoid the kind of deception that occurred in Genesis 3:15.
