10 Bible Verses on Assisted Suicide

10 verses

Human life is sacred, a gift from God, and intentionally ending one's own life or assisting another to do so is contrary to biblical teachings. In Exodus 20:13, God commands against taking innocent life, while Psalms 5:6 condemns hands that shed innocent blood. The apostle Paul reminds believers in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 that their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and thus should be honored and preserved. Additionally, Ecclesiastes 7:17 cautions against hastening one's own death, and 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 encourages believers to trust in God's strength and sovereignty, even in suffering.

Since no one knows what will happen, who can tell him what is to come? As no man has power over the wind to contain it, so no one has authority over his day of death. As no one can be discharged in wartime, so wickedness will not release those who practice it.
To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build,
Then Job stood up, tore his robe, and shaved his head. He fell to the ground and worshiped, saying: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD.”
Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run it through me, or these uncircumcised men will come and run me through and torture me!” But his armor-bearer was terrified and refused to do it. So Saul took his own sword and fell on it. When his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell on his own sword and died with him.
