Great Deception
The term "Great Deception" is often associated with the end times in biblical prophecy, particularly in relation to the figure known as the Antichrist. In 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12, Paul speaks of the coming of the lawless one, whose coming is "according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders." This passage suggests that the Great Deception will involve powerful and deceptive signs that lead many away from the truth, culminating in a strong delusion that causes people to believe a lie rather than the truth of God.Additionally, Revelation 12:9 refers to the devil as "that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world." This highlights the ongoing theme of deception throughout biblical history, where Satan seeks to lead humanity astray, particularly during the last days. The "Great Deception" can thus be understood as a culmination of these deceptive strategies that aim to mislead believers and non-believers alike, urging a call to vigilance and discernment among the faithful in order to remain steadfast in the truth of the Gospel.
