Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

Well, let's just go a little further. Let's get on through. Turn over to Galatians 5 and see how we did. Are you seeing now how we overcome? I can't hear you. I know this little familiar to some of you that's kind of sitting in some of these meetings and so forth, but I tell you what, we might see some new things in here. So, the law of the Spirit sets you free from the law. Now look at me right here. The law of the Spirit sets you free from the law of sin and death. Isn't that correct? Why does the law of the Spirit set you free? Because the law of the Spirit leads you to put to death the deeds of the flesh that breaks God's law. Isn't that right? Is that correct? So, look what it says in verse 16. Well, let's just go over that now. Let's go to verse 19. Now the deeds of the flesh, how many know that the deeds of the flesh is lawlessness? It breaks God's law, okay? The deeds of the flesh are evident which are immorality, impurity, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, rousing, and things like these. Does all these things break God's law? Amen? And things like these. Just as I have forewarned you, just as I forewarned you, that those who practice such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Is that pretty plain? Huh? All right, then that's the reason it says in verse 16, but I say walk by the Spirit, if you're led by the Spirit of God, and you what? You will not tear out these desires of the flesh because the Spirit of God leads you to put them to death. Isn't that right? Because when you walk by the flesh, you can't help it, you walk in impurity. You have to put it to death. You prove you love the Lord with all your heart. So see, when you put to death that immorality, do you see it right there? The deeds of flesh are immorality, impurity. Do you see that idolatry? Do you see the commandments mixed in with these and see that's all the law? Are you seeing this, folks? Huh? You say you're not going to inherit the kingdom of God if you practice these things. See, when you practice them, you prove you love them more than you do the Lord. And you won't get, you won't overcome, you won't repent, won't return from them. But how can you know, see, how am I going to know that some of these things in my life, listen to you folks, now let's start all over again. Everybody listen to me. You start repenting. You don't know what all is in your heart, but you start repenting and you pray unto God and you seek God and I'm going to tell you what, you start crying out to God and you tell him, Lord, I don't know what's in my heart, but I know one thing, I love you more than I do anything else. Now let the Spirit of God start leading me. I'm ready to go possess the land. Amen? And you know what's going to happen when you do this? He's going to give you peace. But don't do one of these little shotgun prayers and expect to get up there walking in peace. And if it takes you a few days or a period of time to go through this thing, don't get under condemnation. You might have a lot of territory to cover and over a period of time, the Lord takes you, you know, before he shows you all these sins and things to deal with. But that peace is going to come to you. Amen? And you just keep seeking the Lord. I mean, the Lord don't, I mean, you draw near to God and he'll draw near to you. Amen? Now that's a promise, but he's not going to draw, he, I tell you what, he, he doesn't, he's not too swift about drawing near if you don't, if you're not interested in drawing near to him. Amen? Okay, now let's look at that. So if you walk with the Spirit, you're not going to carry out the desire of the flesh. Did we say all the sons of God are led by the Spirit of God? Is that right? For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh, these in opposition to one. So you can't do what you please because the flesh goes after the nature character of Satan and you can't do what you please anymore. So then what are we going to do? If Paul defined the body of Christ right there in verse 24, he showed you what the body of Christ looked for, looked like. For those who belong to Jesus Christ, this is a body of Christ. This is a church. What have they done? They've crucified or put to death the flesh with his passion and desire. Is that what your Bible says? I can't hear you. Well, did we already see if you're led by the Spirit of God, you're going to put to death the deeds of the flesh? Boy, there went your reputation, didn't it? There went the world and things in the world. There went everything when you do that, right? But you prove you love the Lord with all your heart because this is not where it is. You see, people spend a whole lifetime beating the wind, they acquire treasures and everything they ever know what to do with, and they have a big funeral and go to hell. Sometimes they get married, get buried in a big old brass coffin, have a nice funeral at the end of them. What happens to what they accumulated? What they accumulated becomes a curse on the next one. Because, see, they program their families and ones they leave it to to find their treasures in the world rather than in heaven. This is how we bring demons on our children. We teach them to seek the things of the world instead of the things of heaven. That's how you get your children to go through fire. So we see right here that those who belong to the Lord Jesus Christ have crucified the flesh and the passion desires. If you crucify the flesh and the passion desires, you're going to have a pure heart. I can't hear you. You will have a pure heart, won't you? Well, if you have a pure heart, it's going to look like this. You have a new fruit. You have the heart of Jesus. You're going to bear love, joy, peace, long-suffering, goodness, gentleness, meekness, temperance, faith. Amen? So the Spirit of God leads you to put the death... See, the Lord's going to show your heart's love and pride, and then you're going to put the... You're going to repent and turn from pride. You're going to put it under the blood. Amen? Then the powers of darkness will come and put trials and tests on you and everything for that anger and that pride to come up, and you stand right there in it. And you don't hit back in pride. You don't hit back in anger, and that's how you die to the flesh. You stand there and please God. That's how you've counted all joy when these trials come up because you're going to get to die to something. Because God said you're really not lacking in nothing because everything... See, what you're going through right here, I'm going to turn around later on. After you've suffered a while, I'm going to strengthen you, confirm you, and establish you. Folks, let me tell you something. Let me warn you about something right now. Take some real nice folks. All the way since Reformation, they get a little truth, and they just go so far, and they stop short of it. You're going to find some people saying part of what we're saying right here, but they won't take the only in. And they're going to be nice folks. They won't take you all the way, because if they take you all the way, they lose their reputation and their kingdom. You better discern it now, folks. Now, let me ask you something. If you crucify the flesh, the church, you're so as blonde, crassy, you say they're going to crucify the flesh as passion desires? Did your Bible say that? Well, then if you do that, you're going to have a pure heart, aren't you? If you have a pure heart, you got a new fruit, hadn't you? You've gone in and possessed the lamb. Let me see if you've possessed the lamb. If you've got a pure heart, how many strongholds are on you? Right here, there are not any. You remember what Jesus said, the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in me. I obey the commandments of the Father. I always do the commandments of the Father. Do the things that please the Father. So when you do the things that please the Father, his wrath can't get on you. So then when you have a pure heart, you're going to bear love, joy, peace, long-suffering goodness, and that is what the purpose of the Spirit is, to bring that fruit into your life. Are you hearing what I'm saying? And so then look in verse 22. The purpose of it, here's what the Spirit of God, Jesus, does. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, that's the nature of God. Against such things there is what? That's how you fulfill the law through Christ. How many see that? Hold up your hand. You have a pure heart. You possess the land. That's where the Spirit of God leads you. But let me ask you something. What if someone comes over here and they say, I believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the cross and was raised from the dead. And then, boy, God takes you through words that you're making Jesus Christ Lord, and that Spirit of God comes in you. And then you stop right there. And then the rest of your life, don't you forget that experience you had. And you just go, bitterness, idolatry, covetousness, murder, unforgiveness, resentment. And you can walk out different doors. You can criticize the pastor. You know him how to read the Word of God, because remember that time right back there you received the Spirit of God. For good it did. You never did fall in. That's a great ball in a way. That's why the church today does not understand the powers of darkness. That's the reason they can't deal with them. They can't tell you about them. That's the reason they have to be offended when it comes up, because it's mostly for smart folks. They can't take your Bible and show you how to work. They teach you a form of godliness about it. Greater is he that's in me and he is the world. You just go on and walk in the stubborn to your heart and obey unto God while you're destroyed. That's a great ball in a way. And a church that walks like this can't tell you what righteousness is. You don't know what righteousness is. You just use the words. You learn a language. It's a religious language. You talk about holiness, but you don't really know what holiness and righteousness is. Church discipline is all over the Bible, but you don't use it because you'll upset somebody's nature of satan that they love. Because you love the approval of man more than you do the approval of God. They can't answer your question. They can't tell you what discernment is, because after you've explained everything away, there's nothing to discern. They can't explain how you have to endure to the end and how you have to overcome, because that's explained away too. Then you learn to skip and pick through the Word of God, and when you see something in the Word of God, say, well, we don't do that. Then immediately that power of darkness in your mind tells you what Dr. Brown knows about that. He would understand it. So then what you've done is made Dr. Brown, Lord, Spirit of God, can't lead you nowhere, because Dr. Brown's your source. Let me see what I'm saying. Hold up your hands. That's how the powers of darkness control people and lead them to the pit. The blind lead the blind to the pit. Nice folks. Intellectual. You know who becomes your source? Men. Men and the commandments of men becomes your source. You know it. Be honest about it. Was the Spirit of God controlling your life, or the assurance from false doctrines and false assurances? Be honest about it. And if we are people of God, why do we go through what we're doing? Why is it like the world? I thought we left something behind us, unless we brought it with us. Now, if you're led to the threat, do you ever hear the saying, well, I'm no longer on earth? Bless God, we're no longer under a curse. I'm not going to have anything to do with the powers of darkness. Now, I want to tell you who's the church of Jesus Christ is. Those who've crucified the flesh with his passion and desires have been led by the Spirit of God to overcome. And you look at verse 18. But if, if, if, if, if you're led by the Spirit of God, you're no longer under the judgment of God's law. Why are you no longer under the judgment of God's law? Because if you're led by the Spirit of God, you overcome the flesh, which breaks God's law, the nature and character of sin. But here's such people, a church, they come here and you receive the Spirit of God. It's genuine. It's a real experience. I mean, the Spirit of God comes into you. And then the powers of darkness perverted from that point right there. And you always look back. You'll never go on to endure and go in and possess the land because it's back there. And now I can go back and I can break all the commandments of God because I had experience left there. This is the end of side number one. Please turn tape over for the conclusion of this tape on side two.
