Again I want to thank you for coming. No two schools of revival and prayer are exactly the same. We have changed materials, we have looked at what needs to be done, and so glad to be here. Those movement things, there was no really break time. But more amazing things, nobody went. Apostles teach, there was conviction of the movement of God. And they pull over and confessing their sins. This morning I want to focus on the religious leaders who contributed to the revival. He encouraged adultery. He practiced witchcraft. He consulted spirits, but they did not listen. The wicked, but in the midst of this, the year was sixteen. One of the challenges we have is nominality. Nominality, and you don't have to point them. I want you to know we can, twenty percent of some figures are higher, but true conversion. Participation, and one of the questions we have to ask. They've been here, because they don't rob banks, but they are not going. Some figures give, some as low as increasing nominality. You have to ask the question, is that twenty percent? I want you to know, he reasserted, I will never take an issue. I remember many a time, my dad humbled himself and bought me cotton shoelace. But not just one, two dozen. Because when it got tight, which was permanent for the rest of the day. But it was useless to untie for tomorrow. Eight years, how did he function? And friends, furthermore, Josiah's father and grandfather. But eight years after young Josiah, we read of the first real pope. He did that which was right. In sixteen, Josiah became sixteen. Three things you need to know from that. And friends, one of them, we must seek him. Because usually the female gender. Yeah, and one of the things to see is there are any. He made at sixteen. So throughout his thirties, he did what was right. And thirdly, I want you to notice this reference in verse three. He makes this reference to King David. He goes all the way back to King David. Why is that? It was not just because King David. The reason why. It was King David. And I must confess. There are many, many people to the board level, to the youth council level. Some are appointed, some are elected. It's a non-negotiable. And Josiah ran under the guise, we need to do some by-law change. And not to put the maximum. The minimum is more. Can you imagine that scene? These were men. Weeping. Embracing him. Kissing him. And why? Because they had fond memories of the time he spent with them. This was just a brief time. And the last time. Why were they so enduring to the apostle Paul? Because on verse 28 he says. Be on guard for yourself. And it doesn't stop there. And for all the flock. Among which the Holy Spirit has made overseers. To God. Godly leadership protects. Godly leadership is concerned about the welfare of the whole flock. Not concerned about the monthly meeting alone. Of the elders. Concerned for the flock. Godly leadership shepherds the church of God. Leads with service. Godly leadership. And look at verse 31. You know what he is saying? He is saying I admonished you. You need to admonish them. I guarded you. I shepherded you. I admonished you. Look at their leadership. Which part of the job description are they fulfilling? This is summary friends. Basic. And I believe the Holy Spirit purposely. What the main response. Admonishing. Guarding. You know why? Spiritual. Don't. You have influence. Because leadership is ultimately influence. I kept telling my kids all. Godly leadership is not position. Positions come and go. Manly leadership is not position. You may have position. You may not. You can always influence at the peer level. Always. You can always influence at the peer level. You can often influence. And sometimes influence upward. But if you are not willing to influence. You have lost. You can always influence at the peer level. But if you are not ready to. We are uncomfortable. You know. We need it. But. Don't show it. And the church has been infected with that same thinking. Don't show anything with great conviction. You know. Be middle of the road. Open with options. Don't tell which one is yours. And I see a lot of committees. A lot of boards. The society has affected us. That's a great Canadian way. The only decision is to postpone the decision. In fact I was brought back into a board because. Friends we need to go counter culture. The church needs to say. Don't take a step. It can't stay in the status quo. Manly leadership. You know the royal commission of. By neglecting. I heard it again. On the set just two days ago. Biblical illiteracy is an old. More study helps. More Bibles. How young people do. With any convictions. That. They don't walk out with a biblical worldview. We have them. Can I achieve that? They don't blame. Somebody else influencing them. Friends we need. So. As John talked about earlier. He was sensitive to the devastating. As someone in our table. Sensitivity to God determines. Our sensitivity to Godliness. As a symbol of his shock. His grief. His horror. His repentance. The king tore his clothes. So it's a symbol. To be naked before God. To say. And Josiah's painful reaction. And he heard the law read. Reveals the intensity. Of the nation's spirit. And the pressing question. Was Jerusalem doomed to receive. The severe punishing Josiah. But she also. So with genuine spiritual conviction. Josiah decided to make a. To do what was right. He could have said. I didn't have. He could have used all kinds of excuses. For not doing God's will. He did not use. His young age as a hindrance. To bring the transformation. We have to ask ourselves. Is the word. Convicting us. Is the word speaking to us. When we read the word. Does the Holy Spirit. Speak to us. The word of the Lord. Step number three friends. Renewing the covenant. We don't have time for much time. But don't say. That there was a five point. Something new in this land. And we need to get behind it. Step number three. King Josiah. Read the. The heinousness of the. But you can go to. You can go for five. Say the word. To tell that person. Be familiar. With dignity. With conviction. And thank God. For this new movement. That is. Because it's been so. King Josiah. He needs a personal vow. Because. King Josiah was. The anniversary of. Standing before the nation. Standing before the Lord. Whether you're going to follow or not. I'm going to do what is right. Step number five. Notice. All the people. Join King Josiah. In his vow. By taking. I firmly believe. That more people in the people. Are willing to follow. And follow God's example. In leadership. All the people. Entered. People follow leadership. And therefore leaders need to know. And if we are leaders. We need to remember. People follow us. Follow us for the better. Step number four. Removing. King Josiah. And King Josiah. Phase one. And here you have some. Number one. The temple clean. Secondly friends. The pagan priest. Verse six. Verse nine. That was phase one. Removal of. King Josiah. Eradication. You can't just clean up and go. You need to clean up. So what does he do? Two steps. Two ways. He reinstituted the Passover. Usually the Passover. We talk often of. One of the Passover. One meaning is to jump. Jump over. The death angels jump. It also means. To strike. Yahweh struck the Egyptians. He redeemed the Indians. But the Passover. To demonstrate. God's sovereignty. Secondly friends. Josiah not only reinstituted. The Passover feast. Josiah remained. Totally surrendered to God. So in verse 25. Of 2 Kings 23. This is what we read. Before him there was no king like him. Who turned to the Lord. With all his heart. With all his soul. And with all his might. According to all. Of the law of Moses. Nor did any. Like him. Arise after him. Friends. The epitaph. Reflects what Jesus taught. In the greatest commandment. You shall love the Lord your God. With all your heart. And with all his soul. And with all your mind. Josiah's. Untimely death. At the age of 39. Was a disaster. Of the highest magnitude. For Judah. And the nation. Moaned for him greatly. And throughout his reign. Josiah proved. The difference. Godly leadership. Can make. And may the Lord help us. To ask. Am I just giving leadership. Or am I giving. Godly leadership. Because it's Godly leadership. That gives you the courage. It's Godly leadership. That emanates. That you. Are serious about this. And when we start demonstrating. Godly leadership. I believe. His people. Will start. Moving to follow us. So it doesn't matter what position you have. Remember what I said. Leadership is influence. You may. Or may not have a position. You can always influence. Those below you. And sometimes. You can even. To see. Start with leadership. And leadership is influence. And if you have come to a school. Of revival and prayer. And you are willing to say. I'm going to spend three days here. You are saying. I want to take my leadership seat. And be Godly. And where it's Godly. God is with us. Amen. Father we thank you. For our time together. We pray that you will. Continue to speak. Continue to minister. Continue to teach us. Many things. Bring things from. The things we have learned in the past. Things we have studied. And integrated. To form convictions of truth. Based on God's word. And to. Be the kind of leader. That makes a difference. And I pray that you will. Help all of us. To be bold like Josiah. Lord be like. Josiah. That he was willing to take. And do what was right. And Lord. The difference he made. In Jerusalem and in Judah. And even. The souls of where. He came. He made a difference. We thank you for. His example. Help us to be. Such an example. For our generation. In Christ's name.
