Zacharias Tanee Fomum

Zacharias Tanee Fomum (1945–2009). Born on June 20, 1945, in Bamenda, Cameroon, to Presbyterian minister Solomon Tanee and Rebecca Angum, Zacharias Tanee Fomum was a Cameroonian evangelist, author, and professor who founded the Christian Missionary Fellowship International (CMFI). Raised in a devout family, he converted to Christianity on June 13, 1956, fully surrendered to Christ’s service in 1966, and was filled with the Holy Spirit in 1970. A brilliant scholar, he earned a BSc with honors from Fourah Bay College, Sierra Leone (1969), a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Makerere University, Uganda (1973), and a D.Sc. from the University of Durham, UK (2005), for his 160+ scientific articles. As a professor at the University of Yaoundé I, he supervised over 100 theses, viewing research as obedience to God’s command to “subdue the earth” (Genesis 1:28). Fomum’s ministry spanned 700 missionary journeys in Cameroon and 500 across 70 nations, planting churches in 130 countries through CMFI. He authored over 350 books, including The Way of Christian Character and The Art of Intercession, with 10 million copies in 100+ languages, emphasizing prayer, holiness, and discipleship. Married to Prisca Zei, a children’s minister, they had seven children, all active in ministry. Fomum died on March 14, 2009, in Yaoundé, saying, “My supreme ambition is to hunger, thirst, and gasp after God.”

Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the speaker shares his personal testimony of how he came to know Jesus at a young age but struggled with a head knowledge of the Bible without a true heart transformation. He emphasizes the importance of recognizing one's sinfulness and need for forgiveness in order to have a relationship with Jesus. The speaker also highlights the natural inclination of humans to turn away from God and the consequences of sin that can affect future generations. He concludes by sharing a powerful story of how his teaching and guidance helped two students succeed academically and encourages listeners to trust in God's timing and not give up on what is good.

It's my second time in Canada. I've gone to 54 other countries to tell the most beautiful story of all time, the story of the prospect of a sinner being forgiven, of inward transformations that shape the future. The joy of my life is that Jesus came into my life seven days before I turned eleven, and that he did pull on me and changed me. I was not yet eleven. I was a pastor's son. I knew most of the Bible. But there was a problem. The problem was not with the head. The problem was with the heart. You don't take long to be a sinner. I was a good boy. I was obedient. But in my heart, there were three problems. The first problem was pride. By that time, one week before I turned eleven, from the earliest day to school, nobody ever did better than myself in any test. Then I worked on the farm so hard. I started going to the farm from the age of seven. I was obedient. Then I was full of myself. Terrible. Pride. I thought I was on top of the world. The praise of teachers did not help me. There was a problem in my heart. That problem was pride. There was another problem. When I was seven years, when I was just seven, the boy next to our house was very close to me. There was a girl from the neighboring village who used to pass somewhere not far from our house. A small pretty girl. Then that boy began to say, Oh, that's her wife. He said it many times until it got into my head. I was only seven. He said it so often that I began to want to see the girl pass. Somehow I would look to see whether she was passing. I never talked to her. I never got even within one meter of her. But there was already a desire pumped in my heart to see her pass. What is that? It's the beginning of sexual immorality. Just wanting to see a girl. Wanting to see a girl. Enjoy being told that's her wife. You know, seed is not lent. The third problem was that I decided that I would get to the top. And that anybody who allows himself to be used No, anybody who allows himself to be used would be used. The thought of using people. The thought of using people. I was not thinking about serving people. I was thinking about using them to get to the top. Those were three grips of sin in my heart already. I had not touched any girl. Not kissed a girl. But there was already a desire to see this girl pass. Then tried a decision that I would use to prove. Instead of serving them. There was much religion. Going to church, reading the Bible, praying and all that. But I was not changed. I even boasted about how much scripture I could recite. So religion always helped to fan my pride. I needed to be changed. So on that day, 13th June 1956 My father received a packet of chucks from the US. He gave me the first one. The title was Someone died for you. That was the title of the chucks. And simply the chucks explained how Jesus had died in my place. In order to save me from the consequences of my sin. And to give me a new life. In fact, I stood under the plum tree in front of our house and read the chucks. At the bottom of the chucks was a prayer which the author of the chucks said if you want Jesus Christ to come into your heart now pray in this fashion. So I prayed. I invited Jesus into my life. I asked him to forgive me. The joy of it and the wonder of it is that immediately I finished praying. I felt sickness all over my body. I could not explain it. It's as if somebody had injected large quantities of sugar through me. At the bottom of the chucks the author said if you have received Jesus Christ into your heart go and tell your best friend immediately. My best friend was in the next village called Ruben. I told Dr. Grosning I ran to that village and I got to their compound. I saw him in the house. I jumped to the house. I put my hand on him. I told him someone died for you. Someone died for you. Then I jumped out and I ran back home. Actually he didn't understand. I did not explain anything. He thought I was telling him that one of his relatives was dead. But I had received the Lord Jesus Christ. And I had carried out my first obedience. And that first obedience was to tell someone that the Lord died for him. That spiritual experience very early in my life has shaped my whole life. So Jesus came into my life. And abolished this. And became a barrier to others coming. That's a Christian. So it was... That spiritual experience that encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ that forgiveness of my sins that change of my heart that shaped... that has shaped all of my life. If I didn't have problems with women I got married at 26 after virgin. But... The day on the 13th, that night I found a hung guy man had to read the Bible. I began to read and read and read. I was reading to midnight, reading to 1 o'clock, reading to 2 o'clock. Before I had read because I was told to read. I read now. Because there was a hunger. There was a yearning. Something in me was drawing me to the Bible. Something in me was searching me making me want to know all of it, to know all of it. I began to obey my parents in a new way. I began to love them. I began to be true. I was a new boy. And with increasing years the grip of Jesus Christ on my life has become firmer and firmer. Giving me greater and greater joy. I'm happier now than I have been in my life. Every day the happiness is increasing. The love is nearer. Life is wonderful. Yes, it's wonderful. Life is wonderful now to me. I let Jesus in. He changed everything. Life is wonderful now. I found that God began to open my mind When I got my baccalaureate degree I got the university's best prize. But I had a huge responsibility as the leader of Christians. But I knew I had to open my mind to give God the best diploma. I knew He was not a God of mediocrity. I could not give Him total service as a Christian and bring four diplomas and put them down His feet. I got to understand that only the best is good enough for the Lord. It's wrong. It's wrong to give God anything that is less than the best. It's wrong to give God anything that is less than the best. It's wrong for a Christian to do low quality work. It's wrong to give God anything less than your best. If God gives you abilities for 18 out of 20 and you bring 16 even if you are the best in the class, you are a failed God. Because God is not comparing you to others. He is comparing you to the abilities He has given you. You can be the first comparing yourself to others but you are a failed God's example. Because you have not reached the level of excellence that is comparable to the abilities He has given you. So that the first can be a failure the first before men can be a failure before God. Look at the potential that God has put in you. The spiritual gives the talents the opportunities. If you do better than someone who has less opportunities and you feel good, you have reached the completion. So from that beginning through university I have known that only the best is good enough for the Lord. The question I ask myself is Lord, and I ask God are you satisfied? Isn't it enough that people have done well? No, that people say. Isn't it enough that specialists have done well? Word of God's evaluation. The past, the impact of the past on the future. The impact of the past on the future. I want us to look at one example. A man called David. David was a warrior. Before 17. He had murdered bears and lions. Before 17, he added Goliath to them. But David had one problem. Women. When he came to the battle, when he came to the war front to bring food to his brothers the king said, oh, the person who killed Goliath the king will give him his daughter. And his family will be exempted from taxes. But that thing that he will have the king's daughter it triggered something in him. He went on up and said what have they said? He was too harassed to hear about this king's daughter. He had a problem. He killed Goliath. The king did not give him the daughter. He also said these king's daughters are dangerous because the king does not keep their word. The king wanted to kill him. Oh no, I will give you my other daughter, my second daughter. Just bring me a hundred false kings of the Philistines. It was the king's way of telling him to be killed by the Philistines. It was the king's way of telling him to be killed by the Philistines. He went and brought two hundred. He doubled the bribe price. Later on he married her. Then he had another wife. When Nabal was dead he invited his wife and married her. By the time he was king and reached some maturity he had nineteen wives and concubines. He had nineteen wives and concubines. The king had said that the king should not have many wives. He should not have many wives. But he went to nineteen. One, two, three, four, five, six seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, eighteen, nineteen. For nineteen days every month he had a different woman. What a preoccupation. He also said, I have a problem. I ought to have cried out to God. I have a problem. He didn't. He could have asked for any girl in Israel to become his wife. Then one day he saw Bathsheba bathing. And he became insane. Forgot God. Forgot the nation. He sent for her because she was beautiful. And she did not refuse. She didn't say, I am a married woman, how can I refuse? You had two criminals. A criminal king and a criminal wife. She too might have been worried. Then he decided to cover his sins. To cover his sins. He called the husband back from the war front. So he may come and sleep with his wife and then he will make her sleep. He sees the husband of the child. The covering of sin. But Uriah was a loyalist. The other soldiers on the battle front how can I go to my wife? To cover his sins. He made him drunk. So he would be drunk and just go home and sleep with his wife. But he drank and stayed there. When he could not get him to go and sleep with his wife he decided to eliminate him. He wrote a letter telling the commander of the army to put him back. The battle would be fatal for the Israeli troops. And that's how Uriah died. One of the 37 most powerful men in Israel. What was the impact? To cover his sins. His first son, Amnon committed incest with his sister Tamar. That was the first harvest. Incest. The man who would have been king after him. An incest. And Absalom killed him. Then Absalom he committed state adultery. He now slept with the 10 concubines of David. As an official ceremony. Because they built something on top of the house. So he would sleep with the concubines one after another. So that everybody would say, yeah, yeah, he did it. He didn't fix it. Now the son is doing it in public. But David did not repent. Well, he repented about his sin with Bathsheba. But he did not confront his heart. He didn't confront that something was wrong with his heart. That woman who told him a story beyond his understanding. When he was old even this beautiful Bathsheba could not keep him warm anymore. Bathsheba could not keep him warm. He was so cold that there was no blanket to keep him warm. All the blankets in Israel could not keep him warm. He wanted the most beautiful girl in Israel. So that her hands would keep him warm. Very strange choice, isn't it? You see, David was always wanting a pretty girl, a pretty woman, a pretty man. Bathsheba was no longer top anymore. So they had to go through all Israel to pick the beauty queen called Abishan. And that's the one who was keeping David warm. In his old age. So David possibly died in a woman's hands. Something was not handled. There were experiences that were not spiritually treated the way they ought to have been treated. And they followed him right to his dying in the hands of Abishan. There may be a sin in a man's life. That's like a small snake. If you step on it he will kill you and that's the end. The story is told of a young man who went to the forest and saw a small snake. It was a boa constrictor. It was still very small. He could have just killed it. But he didn't. He brought it home. And began to feed it. Just in time he could have killed it with a stick. But he began to feed it. It was growing in length and it was growing in size. You know boa constrictors, they don't they have no size. They have venom. They kill by constricting. So he decided to become a Samoan suit. Every Sunday the boa would come and wrap itself around him and then the boa would push and he would pull. Then he would push it down and they would clap. And the boa was growing in length and in size. And the cloud was growing also. And his fame was spreading. Each Sunday the boa would pull, he would pull. It was getting tougher and tougher. But when he defeated the boa he would jump up, jump up. People would clap and clap and say boa overcomer, boa overcomer, boa overcomer. So his fame spread far and wide. Boa overcomer, boa overcomer. Then at full size. One day he had the biggest cloud and then the boa was around him. And the boa pulled. He pushed, the boa pulled. He pushed, the boa pulled. It was going on, it was going on. Then at one point it was like equal. Then the boa pulled and pulled and then he weakened. Then the boa pulled, pulled, pulled. The roots were broken. And the boa left him dead. Now you had an overcoming boa. There may be a small sin in your life that you could stop. But you are now it. You may get to a point where with drastic measures you could still separate yourself. But you let it continue until it would destroy you. In 1977 there was a man in Cameroon. I preached. I preached the gospel. He was a man in high society. He was a man in high society. He had given his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. But he had a shaky marriage. He married a North American girl. Sub-African from one of the African countries. The man. Then he had a friend at the university. A girl. It was not an immoral relationship. One morning. When I stood up to wait on God. The Lord told me, go to him at lunch time. And tell him to stop the relationship with the girl at the university. I went to his house at lunch time. After lunch we went to his bedroom. We knelt down. And I told him what God said to me. He told me that God told him the same thing that morning. To stop that relationship with the girl. So we agreed that after work he would go to the university and stop the relationship. There was no sin. It was just a good friendship. But God wanted it stopped. He used to come to the teaching meetings I hold. And he was so proud of me. The next week he just waved me for a distance and went away quickly. I told him where he was. He waited. I said, did you do what we agreed? Did you go to the university? And stop that relationship? He said, I decided not to shock her. I decided to stop it slowly. He divorced his wife and married that girl. Had he stopped the relationship he would have saved his marriage. Come back to David. David now has a son called Solomon on the throne. The king shall not multiply wives. Solomon started with a daughter of Pharaoh. Of Pharaoh. And Egyptian beauties. And one. Then he married another king's daughter. Another king's daughter. Until they were ten. Then he continued. Until they were thirty-one. He still had thirty-one wives who were all princesses. He had a woman every day. That was not enough. He went up to a hundred. All princesses. Then he added another one hundred. He was not satisfied. Then he added another one hundred. He was not satisfied. Then he added another sixty-five. Now he had two hundred and sixty-five princesses wives. So he could have a princess every day. Can you imagine a man who has three sixty-five wives to satisfy? Solomon had a problem. A very big problem. When I was a lecturer in my career the glass technicians glass-blowing technicians because there was a glass section I went to his girlfriend to construct something for me. He said, Doctor, women have problems. I asked, are you married? He said, I have two. I said, you try to double the problem. By the time Solomon had three hundred and sixty-six he had multiplied the problem three hundred and sixty-six times. By the time Solomon had three hundred and sixty-six he had multiplied the problem three hundred and sixty-six times. But he didn't stop there. Four hundred. Five hundred. Six hundred. Seven hundred wives. One man. Then he said, I don't want to be married again. I now have concubines. Fifty. One hundred. Now eight hundred women. Now one hundred. Nine hundred. Now one hundred. Nine hundred thousand women. Only time caught him, he might have continued. I'm a man to whom God had paid early in his life. To have built temples for the for the gods of each of the subjects. Talks of a tragedy. The sin of his father was following him. He multiplied his father's sin. His father had less than twenty. He had a thousand. And this girl Abisham in whom King David died was still there. And Adonijah and also David also had an eye on the same girl. Adonijah was so stupid because knowing Solomon knowing Solomon for whom he was to go and ask Solomon to release a beautiful woman was suicide. Because when he asked to have Abisham that day Solomon killed him. The experiences of the past influencing the decisions made. Influencing the decisions that are being made and influencing the decisions that the future will make. It's not possible just to treat the past like this. It will follow you. You can decide that you'll forget. But it will follow you. The past is solid, concrete. It pursues people. A young man in Uganda came to me. He was doing a bachelor's degree in agriculture. He said, I cannot study this. When I opened my book to read I see a girl jumping all over the page. I said, who is the girl? He said, it's a girl I left in Kenya. I deceived her that I would marry her. After I used her I forgot. I decided to forget. I decided to forget. But he could not concentrate. He was jumping all over the pages. There are things that will follow you. No question about it. There are things that will follow you. You cannot forget those things. You can choose to forget. But they are there. They will follow you. Last month I was in Papua Skies. My host came to seek counsel. He said, the doctor did something and he wanted to discipline her by beating her. But immediately I took the cane. But immediately I took the cane. Then I remembered that my mother said that that was the same thing I was doing when I was young. Then I remembered that my mother said that that was the same thing I was doing when I was young. So I threw the cane down. The doctor was not there. When he was doing it. But the doctor is doing it. We carry our progeny. What do we do? We do for ourselves and we do for them. To the 3rd and 4th generation. And possibly beyond. In a place in my country called Baptistan. I was preaching in a cinema hall. A man walked forward crying. He said, what you are saying applies to my life. He said, when I was 21 I went to prison for making a minor pregnant. If you make a minor pregnant in Cameroon and you are taken to court, you go to prison. If you make a minor pregnant you go to court and you go to prison. I was 21. He was crying because he said my son of 19 is already in prison. A schoolmate went to Russia. A schoolmate. Went to study in Russia. He made a Russian girl of 19 pregnant. And the parents compelled him to marry her. If not they would get him deported. So he married her. He came to Cameroon and was working in the computer section of the presidency. One day I got to my office. The phone rang. I picked it. Tell me that. My 11 year old daughter has made me a grandfather. Her mother was pregnant at 19. The daughter. The experiences of the past. The full humanity. Also stop. Are you condemned then to follow the pathway traced by your parents? To multiply tenfold the sins of your parents? Are you condemned to be ruined by the sins of your early days? Can you be forgiven? Can the past be blotted out? Or can you not decide to forget? I want to tell you. You cannot just forget. They will follow you. When I was 16 I told a pretty girl of 12 that I would marry her. I meant it. I was very sincere. I went to visit her. She brought a very big grapefruit. I said, oh, this grapefruit is so big that it's for a king. It's still for a king. She said, oh, it's for my king. And when he comes I must give him the best I can provide. Those words entered my head. I went out of there and said, oh, so I'm a king. It turned my head. As I was walking to her house I said, oh, I'm a king. I must never do anything that is not heartbreaking. Then somewhere along the line I forgot. I changed my mind. When I was 49 one morning I stood up to wait on God. It was the time for my meditation. And God said to me when you were 16 you promised this girl you would marry her. And you broke your promise. And you carried no restitution. I will not speak to you again The joy of my life has been that each morning I've met God and he's talked to me. Now God has said he will not speak to me until I carry out a decision. I had not seen that girl for 21 years. I didn't know whether she was alive or dead, whether she was in the country or outside the country. And now I was capable of God. You can decide to forget but God will not forget. I was 49. I made this promise at 16. And I didn't commit anything with her. I didn't touch her. I didn't defile her at all. But my word had gone out. My word had gone out. And God expects us to keep our word. God expects that a man swears to his own death. I didn't know where I was. I didn't start to look for her. When you have not heard about somebody, not seen the person for 21 years. But I begged to God that he would help me find her and carry out a decision. The next weekend I was preaching in a town called Bamenda. And I told the brethren that I was in a crisis with God. I have to carry out restitution for a sin I committed at 16. Because I gave my word and never kept it. I told them the restitution and they made the name of the girl. God had mercy on me. Four days after that, I got a fax message. One brother was at the meeting. He said, I found the girl. She is called Mrs. This. She has six children. She is working here. So my wife and I drove 400 kilometers. I took an appointment with her and I begged her to forgive me for the promise I made and for breaking my word. And she forgave me. And I was at peace with God. And God began to speak to me again. Sin is not solved by forgetting. The answer to sin is the Lord Jesus Christ. This is a stateful saying and worthy of all acceptation. That Christ came into the world to save sinners. He came to save sinners. There is hope for every sinner. Every sinner can be forgiven. His sins can first of all be forgiven. Let's say there is a liar. It will be cancelled. But if I cancelled it, that was a liar, but I have been forgiven. He does not only forgive. He blots out sin and leaves no traces. Jesus Christ came and died on the cross and shed his blood for our forgiveness and for our cleansing. When the sinner comes to the Lord Jesus Christ the Lord cancels his sin and cancels the consequence of his sin which is the lack of fire. And he blots the sin away. In fact he blots all sin away. A man who has committed ten sins or a hundred sins, a thousand sins, ten thousand sins, a hundred thousand sins, a million sins or ten million sins or a billion sins, when he comes to the Lord Jesus Christ the Lord will forgive him and blot out all his sins so that a person loaded with sin when he comes to the Lord Jesus Christ the Lord will cleanse him in such a way that when he sits in him there is no trace of the past. He says, there are sins and iniquities I will remember no more. It is a miracle that God forgives sins and forgets. There are some who tell you they are forgiving you but if you do the same thing again they say, yeah, yeah, do it again, do it again you are doing it like in the past. There are many husbands who do that and many wives who say it quietly in their hearts they may not have the courage to hit you on the face with their spirit the wonderful thing about the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ is that regardless of the depth of sins he forgives he cleanses and he forgets so that there is a record of the nowhere even in the mind of God that cannot forget he still forgets all their sins that is what was accomplished by the death of Jesus Christ on the cross and the past God also takes away the past and gives it a new beginning so that the worshipper forgiven, transformed begins to walk through life as someone who has never sinned the past and Lord the blessings of God come upon the present instead of the curses of the past on Sunday we shall talk about curses because some of you have come from different countries and brought here your curses this is also an answer to curses we say today that regardless of what the past has been Jesus Christ can give you a new beginning a new beginning there is no sin so terrible that he cannot forgive I went to one village to preach a woman came forward she had killed another woman's two children in Switzerland and she was convicted there were about 700 people there and she stood up and she confessed that she killed that woman's two children in Switzerland and those were the only two children that woman had there is no hope for such a person Jesus Christ is the hope of the hopeless kids there is no sin he cannot forgive so the past can be terminated abolished wiped away annulled forgiven and forgotten by God a new possibility is given to move into the future not hampered by that past but rather with new strength from the Lord to run the race in the future in the pictures of Christ it is possible for you and God has no favorites each one is invited to have the past settled and that Jesus Christ comes to take the decisions of the future with him and to walk with him into the future and to make the future utter success because in some days he will talk about curses and other aspects so today we focus on our past and its consequences the choices that we've made in the past and their impact on our lives today you said that we need to give the best of ourselves because I don't even have an age so I need to do something to be the best of myself because I decide I go to school like this I tell myself that I want to work I work, I study, I do everything possible to succeed like this I don't talk about the results before the exam not the results before the exam the questions before the exam not the questions the question is she's saying that I've heard you speak about how God must be given no less than the best so for instance I just can't succeed after all my effort and there could be mistakes from the professor or there might be someone who somehow cheated and saw the solutions of the exam before the exam and what do you say on those cases and she struggles to delete the Lord after such things I have proper names of professors the first time when my professor presented when I wanted to change from associate professor to professor by then they used to send it to five universities an African university a French university an English university an American university five universities I published a lot I had all the five reports were very favorable but our head of department then was a French man I had lent his girlfriend to the Lord he's a moral partner so he swore that I would never be promoted so there was a report of the head of department he wrote that since I came to the department there has been no peace in the department he wrote all funny things he said I use the departmental post box to receive countless Christian literature and letters and that I have now divided the department there are now two camps the leaders camp and the other camp they argued for one and a half hour in the senate they argued for one and a half hour so they said a full professor should be helping for unity in the department and not for strife that was the conclusion I was in distance I didn't go to university to promote it I went to teach I continued to teach and to supervise teachers and God honored me two students who failed in trying to work with him totally moved over to me and God blessed them in a very short time they were able to defend what they call in french Dradeta at the moment I'm the only DSC in Cameroon it's a British qualification I have a DSC from the University of Durham for outstanding research so injustice do not end something that is good the order allow it time to mature even better the first stop look at Joseph in the bible he was sold he was thrown into a pit he was thrown as a slave that beautiful there he was he was accused for attempting rape and was put in an underground prison and from there to power have I answered you? Rasson you would have liked the man and animal most of the description have to do with sexual relationships ok the first question was why did they do it? the first question was why did they do it? it seems that it seems that the consequences of the sin of your ancestors seem to fall down the generations ask all these questions the third question is there one given way of following Jesus thank you very much if I were not in Canada I would have used other examples last time when I came to Canada I was in Toronto the homosexuals were demonstrating they were demonstrating thousands of them short after that there was a big picture over 5000 people men and women were lying naked more than 5000 men and women naked in the picture even the photographer was surprised there were 5000 people there were 5000 people so the examples are appropriate to communicate in Canada but they are also appropriate to communicate everywhere in the world because the world is in a sexual crisis I have not seen a cock mounted on a cock but today men and men women and women we are in a crisis it's a crisis of the sex to pretend not to face the issues is false you know the divorce rate in this country now you know the number of youth who are living without marriage it's not a peculiar these are the burning issues of our generation the examples are appropriate in fact at the airport in Douala, Cameroon they were texting the telephone but it said one girl in English I said what has this got to do with telephony funny as somebody told me if they were not there you wouldn't know you would not have asked so you have understood let me go to your second question the second question was being a victim of what one's parents were your mother comes on Sunday we shall go into the subject in depth but one is not an individual in a sense you cannot become white your parents decided it you carry it you cannot make your nose like that it was not decided by you what our parents who our parents are who our parents are and what they do affects us profoundly but the wonder of it is that that Jesus Christ can set us free from the negative bondages to the sins and the crimes of our parents outside him there is very little hope but that is not all people add their own sins to the sins of their parents to make their own future more bleak Solomon did not stop with 19 wives he took them per thousand and killed his brother because of a woman even if we are to forget the sins of our parents we have our own sins to confront we have our own sins to confront but Jesus Christ gives us the possibility of a new destiny we are not doomed if we accomplish him and he does not just break the power of the past he gives us power for the present so that we can rise to heights that are great beyond telling if you let Jesus Christ have your life you will rise to your full standing in everything that changes all the life and changes all the domains and all the dimensions let me ask the second part of the question people do science for their own glory why is that most unfortunate if you look at the founding fathers of science they were not looking for glory they were just investigating they were trying to know they were trying to solve problems if it is in our day that things have missed the course some researchers in psychiatry they worked for 37 years they had money they set up their own laboratories and they did not publish their results for 37 years when they published their results they had modified most of the things that were being taught in that discipline they were not seeking fame a lost man a man without Christ must seek his glory he is a slave to himself but when Jesus Christ comes to him and the captive is set free he will live for the glory of God and live for the service of man so he will pursue science to glorify the law of science and use science in the service of man it is imperative that I look at it differently Jesus Christ is the director of our research laboratory I am the deputy director I seek him for wisdom I seek him for wisdom I seek him for guidance and I beg to seek him and our best results were revelations from him the bible says for by him, that is by Jesus all things were created things in heaven and on earth visible and invisible whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities all things were created by him and for him and science is just bringing to light what he created so that it may serve man for the glory of the creator all things were created by him and for him all things were created by him and for him so when you are just bringing to light what he created if you don't give him the glory and there are many dishonest people so science for personal glory is dishonesty all things were created by him for him you can be dishonest without knowing it that's why the scientists need to come to Christ they don't have to know who is the author I dedicated my thesis to the Lord Jesus Christ Lord of Science, creator of the universe and I quoted this verse on the first page of the thesis if you don't know the creator where do you think that you are great where do you know the creator if a man keeps a thing there then you go and find it out somebody make something and put it there then you forget the person who put it there I am going to make like this it is ignorance the last question how can a man come into a reconciling experience with the Lord of Science how can Jesus become yours how can you start this romance of walking with him there are four things the first thing that you must admit that he is a sinner he came to save sinners if a sinner says I am not a sinner then he doesn't deserve it he will remain lost you must admit that he is a sinner who is a sinner a sinner is a person a sinner is a person who is twisted away from the Lord Jesus he is twisted away from the Lord Jesus he is just inclined in the wrong direction you know a plant turns towards light it is a plant it is photogenic every human being by nature is sinful we are sinners by nature and we commit sin to confirm what we are we don't like the truth of God we hate God we hate the truth if a thief is stealing and he brings light he will run away from the light and he may even destroy you with the light there is something in man that does not want God in his fullness that is sin you must admit that he is a sinner I was a pastor's son I was a pastor's son sinner then I was baptized I became a baptized sinner and you can become a confirmed sinner that is before it was not very clear that you are a sinner they confirm you they say we are not sure that you are a sinner then you must believe it is a simple thing and worthy of all acceptation that Christ came into the world to save sinners Jesus Christ came to save sinners he came to save you as a person if you were the only sinner in the world God would still have sent Jesus Christ to come and seek you in order to save you you are so important to God God loves you and Christ died for you as a person you must believe that you cannot save yourself and you must believe that Christ died to save you he did not stay in heaven and say come and join me in heaven he came right into our world he came right into our situation that he may do in us what we could not do for ourselves break the power of sin and set us free from the consequences of sin then there is seen something to consider Jesus cannot save the person who is not prepared to abandon all the sins if you want to keep your sins and let Jesus take some it cannot work either he takes all the sins or he leaves all there are some sins that embarrass us many people would like Jesus to take those sins that embarrass them but keep those refined sins or those sins that give us profit someone wrote me many years ago and said I have 10 girlfriends I want to abandon 9 can I become born again I said even if you abandon all sins you will still be lost because it is not it is not the abandonment of girls that is salvation it is that Jesus invades your life and possesses you but you must be prepared to abandon all sins and to pull him out of all causes I want to say in pulling him you enter into God's best the best in time and the best in eternity the best for spirit, soul and body the best intellectually, the best in everything socially God gives the best to those who come to him after you consider that and you are prepared to follow him there is something to do Jesus said I stand at the door and I knock anyone who hears my voice and anyone who hears my voice and opens the door of his house I will come in I will eat with him and he with me God wants to come into your heart into your life he wants to establish a relationship with you you must allow him in he is not a Muhammad Ali or George Foreman he is not a boxing champion to come in you must freely open and let him come in then a honeymoon will begin because he comes to bless he comes to unbind he comes to set you free he comes to give you the mind of God he comes to bring heaven on earth so that you begin to walk with him in this life and at the end of this life he will open the portals of heaven and allow you into God's presence it is fantastic would you let him come in? can I just close? is there someone here who would like this Jesus to come into your heart and begin life's adventure with him listen on the 13th was 50 years of my walk with Jesus it has been a wonderful experience I feel like jumping and shouting I am happy I am fulfilled it has just been wonderful and his grip on my life is tighter with time and my enjoyment of him is better and better he is the best if you want Jesus to come into your heart here and now because he is knocking at the door you don't have any reason to wait till tomorrow here and now you can do what I did under that plum tree when I got that thought you can ask Jesus to come and you have taken the most important step in your life life's romance with Jesus and eternity with Jesus who wants Jesus to come into his heart now? he died for you on the cross and the cross was on a hill he did not hide it he took a public stand for you and suffered for you publicly you cannot come privately you come in publicly say Lord Jesus, I am that sinner you died to save save me here and now if you take one step towards him he will come right there below the cross to you and take your place only if you want Jesus to come into your life now put up your hands and stand if you want Jesus to come into your life, stand up there is someone else I know there is a battle going on the devil says, shut it down enjoy some more sin say Satan, no I am going to Jesus now I have two people who still understand, let them come Jesus just a decision away who else is standing? it is not when God sends you a messenger right from Africa he is taking you seriously say those two other who are standing and we will pray I am going to pray and you pray that same prayer aloud I am praying the sinner's prayer of repentance and the invitation of Jesus Christ to enter say Lord Jesus say it loud because the devil does not want to be put to shame because the devil does not want to be put to shame he wants you to choose Jesus say it out loud he was not ashamed to doubt for you on the cross so do not be ashamed of him say it out loud Lord Jesus, I love you and I come to you I come here now I come with all the sins of my life I have sinned in my desires in my motives in my thoughts in my words in my deeds
