Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

What did we already see? If you're led by the Spirit of God, you're gonna put to death the deeds of the flesh? Boy, there went your reputation, didn't it? There went the world and things in the world. There went everything when you do that, right? But you prove you love the Lord with all your heart, because this is not where it ends. You see, people spend a whole lifetime beating the wind, they acquire treasures and everything they ever know what to do with, and they have a big funeral and go to hell. Sometimes they get married, uh, get, uh, buried in, uh, big old brass stove and have a nice funeral, and that's the end of them. What happens to what they accumulated? What they accumulated becomes a curse on the next ones. Because, see, they, see, they program their families and the ones they leave it to to find their treasures in the world rather than in, in heaven. This is how we bring demons on our children. We teach, teach them to seek the veins of the world instead of the veins of heaven. That's how you, you, you get your children to go through fire. So we see right here that those who belong to the Lord Jesus Christ have crucified the flesh If you crucify the flesh to the passion of the Lord, are you going to have a pure heart? I can't hear you. You will have a pure heart, won't you? Well, if you have a pure heart, it's going to look like this. You have a new fruit. You have the heart of Jesus. You're going to acquire love, joy, peace, long-suffering, goodness, gentleness, meekness, temperance, and faith. Amen? So the Spirit of God leads you to put the death to heaven. See, the Lord's going to show you a heart's love and pride. And then you're going to put the, see, you're going to repent and turn from pride. He's put it under the blood. Amen? Then the powers of anger shall come and put trials and tests on you and everything for that anger and that pride to come up and you stand right there in it. And you don't hit back in pride. You don't hit back in anger. And that's how you die to the flesh. You stand there and please God. That's how you counted all joy when the trials come up because you're going to get to die to something. Because God said, you're really not lacking in nothing because everything, see, what you're going through right now, I'm going to turn around later on. After you've suffered a while, I'm going to strengthen you, confirm you, and establish you. Folks, let me tell you something. Let me warn you about something right now. There's some real nice folks all the way since Reformation, they get a little truth and they just go so far and they stop short of it. You're going to find some people saying part of what we're saying right here, but they won't take you only in. And they're going to be nice folks. They won't take you all the way because if they take you all the way, they lose their reputation and their kingdom. You better discern it now, folks. Now let me ask you something. If you crucify the flesh, the church, so is Blanc-Crafty, to say they're going to crucify the flesh despite some desire? Did your Bible say that? Then if you do that, you're going to have a pure heart, aren't you? If you have a pure heart, you've got a new fruit, haven't you? You've gone in and possessed the land. Let me see if you've possessed the land. If you've got a pure heart, how many strongholds are on you? Right here there are not any. You remember what Jesus said? The ruler of this world is coming and he has nothing in me. I obey the commandments of the Father. I always do the commandments of the Father. Do the things that please the Father. Amen? So when you do the things that please the Father, his wrath can't get on you. So then when you have a pure heart, you're going to bear love, joy, peace, long-suffering, goodness, and that is what the purpose of the Spirit is, to bring that fruit into your life. Are you hearing what I'm saying? And so then look in verse 22. Here's what the Spirit of God, Jesus, does. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. That's the nature of God. Against such things there is what? That's how you fulfill the law through Christ. How many see that hold up you have? You have a pure heart. You possess the Lamb. That's where the Spirit of God leads you. But let me ask you something. What if someone comes over here and they say, I believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the cross and was raised from the dead. And then boy, God takes you at good word that you're making Jesus Christ Lord and that Spirit of God comes in you. And then you stop right there. And then the rest of your life, don't you forget that experience you had and you just go bitterness, idolatry, covetousness, murder, unforgiveness, resentment. And you can walk out different doors. You can criticize the pastor. You don't even have to read the Word of God because remember that time right back there you received the Spirit of God. What good did it do? You never did fall in. That's the great falling away. That's why the church today does not understand the powers of darkness. That's the reason they can't deal with them. They can't tell you about them. That's the reason they have to be offended when it comes up because it's supposed to be for smart folks. They can't take your Bible and show you how to work. They teach you a form of godliness about a greater seed that's in the world. You just go on and walk in the stubbornness of your heart and rebelling to God while you're destroyed. That's the great falling away. And a church that walks like this can't tell you what righteousness is. You don't know what righteousness is. You just use the words. You learn a language. It's a religious language. You talk about holiness, but you don't really know what holiness and righteousness is. Church disciplines all over the Bible, but you don't use it because you'll upset somebody's nature of Satan that they love. Of course, you love the approval of man more than you do the approval of God. They can't answer your question. They can't tell you what discernment is because after you've explained everything away, there's nothing to discern. They can't explain how you have to endure to the end and how you have to overcome because that's explained away too. Then you learn to skip and pick through the Word of God, and when you see something in the Word of God, say, Well, we don't do that. Then immediately that power of darkness in your mind tells you what Dr. Brown knows about that. He would understand it. So then what you've done is made Dr. Brown Lord. The Spirit of God can't lead you nowhere because Dr. Brown's your source. I mean, see what I'm saying? Hold up your hands. That's how the power of the darkness controls people and leads them to the pit. The blind leads the blind to the pit. Nice folks, intellectual. You know who becomes your source? Men. Men and the commandments of men becomes your source. You know it. Be honest about it. Was the Spirit of God controlling your life? Or the assurance from false doctrines and false assurances? Be honest about it. And if we are people of God, why don't we go through what we're doing? Why is it like the world? I thought we left something behind us. Unless we brought it with us. Now, if you're led by the Spirit, do you ever hear Satan say, Well, I'm no longer under the... Bless God, we're no longer under a curse. I never had anything to do with the power of the darkness. Now, I want to tell you who's the Church of Jesus Christ. It's those who've crucified the flesh with its passion and desires and been led by the Spirit of God to overcome. And you look at verse 18. But if, if, if, if, if you're led by the Spirit of God, you're no longer under the judgment of God's law. Why are you no longer under the judgment of God's law? Because if you're led by the Spirit of God, you overcome the flesh which breaks God's law, the nature and character of Satan. But here sits people, a church, that come here and you receive the Spirit of God. It's genuine. It's a real experience. I mean, the Spirit of God comes into you. And then the power of the darkness perverted from that point right there. And you always look back. You'll never go on to endure and go in and possess the Lamb because it's back there now. I can go back and I can break all the commandments of God because they had me as experienced back there. That's called the security of the unbeliever. See, you're fulfilling God's law with the form of Godliness. You're not doing nothing. But be honest with yourself. All you do is show up and bring your money. The more you give, the more you do, the better Christian you are. And you don't know how to deal with nothing. The only thing you know what to do is what this man tells you. He's got this word chained to the pulpit. That's the only thing you know. Because he's got academics. He knows foreign languages. Some things. So you put your trust in men. And you follow a blind leader to the pit. So what is the purpose, folks, of the commandments of God? Did he say over there, you've got to love the Lord with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself? Look at verse 14. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. May I ask you something? The man that has a pure heart and has put to death the deeds of the flesh, you're going to bear this fruit of love, joy, peace, long-suffering. Does this man up there love the Lord as himself? That's what the Spirit of God and Jesus came to do in you, to put a heart in you like him. Because the commandment of Jesus says this, John 15, 12, this is my commandment, that you're going to love one another just as I loved you. That's no idle words. This is some form of God that says in other scriptures, just plain the way it's in your Bible. Greater love has no one than he laid down his life. Have they ever explained, have you ever known in your whole life what laying down your life was? No, you've not known. Be honest about it. We haven't known what laying down, it's just words that we use. We don't know. Laying down your life is laying down the whole flesh and you have to give it up. If you don't give it up, it's going to remain idolatry to you. If you give it up and lay down your life, then the Spirit of God leads you to overcome it because you love the Lord. And the only way you're going to lay it down is to love the Lord more than you do this fleshly nature and character of Satan. That's the church of Jesus Christ. And then when you have a pure heart, what kind of heart do you think you'll have? You're going to be holy. You're going to be blameless. You're going to be spotless. And that's the bride that Jesus Christ is coming for. That was a pattern that we saw last night. The Israelites, they didn't go in and possess the land. And then their bodies fell in the wilderness. Isn't that right? Can I tell you something? If you don't go in and possess the land, your bodies will also fall in the wilderness. How many see that? Hold up your hands. Now, all of a sudden, you're learning the fear of God. How many is learning the fear of God right now? It's not no jokes and funs and games anymore, is it? It's become a pretty serious thing. The whole law is fulfilled in the word, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. That's the reason you have to have a pure heart. This is the reason Jesus comes. Hey, folks! How many know what salvation is now? Which end is it? Back over here where you start? Or are you going to do it at the end? There you go.
