Paul mourned when he perceived that his dear spiritual children in Galatia had become “put under a spell”, or as he says in the KJV, had become bewitched. This happened because they had left the gospel of grace and were attempting to find spiritual maturity in keeping the Jewish law. This departure from grace to works left them in a state of spiritual confusion and danger. Likewise today, though many understand grace and are careful not to fall into a gospel of good works, they have fallen into a gospel of man centeredness. It is so common for people to perceive the Christian life as a means to get something from God. This is simply the culture that already exists in this country finding a place in the Christian culture. Today, one of the greatest needs is a great emancipation from viewing our Lord and the salvation He has provided to us as chiefly something that relates to us and to see it as it relates to God’s ultimate intention. God set in motion the great salvation plan by sending His Son as a means to obtain HIS end which was something He planned before the world was created. This great plan was that He would make HIS Son the heir of all things and that in Him the whole created universe would see the invisible God made manifest in all His divine beauty and radiant splendor. In God’s mercy and kindness, when He planned on creating mankind, His purpose was to offer man the tree of life, which was the Way leading to being conformed to the image of the only begotten Son, who was always His Father’s delight. Because of this, Lucifer, the bright angel of light, and the original Morningstar, moved with jealousy, and in greed and evil desire coveted the place that God planned to give to His Son, the bright and Morningstar, and to His family of Sons that would be made into His moral likeness. So, because of this, God cast Lucifer out from heaven and he turned evil, becoming the devil! After this, God then created man, having His original intention in mind, to give Him access to the tree of life in the garden. But Satan beguiled Eve, and Adam willingly went along with her and sinned against God, hence, forfeiting their rights to the tree of life. Satan did this because of his hatred towards God for giving man a place of proximity to Himself that exceeded the one Satan occupied before he fell into sin and became the wicked Satan! This is why Satan hated the blessed Son of God when he came as a Man! Satan foresaw, even before he fell, that this Man would rule over him and be given the place of authority on the throne, a place God did not give to him as Lucifer, hence, Satan would have to be subject to Him, as a MAN, and eventually be subject to all those who would bear His image as His children! Only by eating of the tree of life could Adam and Eve become qualified to possess the kind of character that was necessary to share in the rights God gave to His Son as heir of all things. Now, dead in sin, Adam and his children were forever barred from the purpose of their being created. But God in His mercy and kindness foresaw this fall and through His Son, came to pay the price for our sins and pardon us through the shedding of the sinless blood of the Lamb of God. God in His Son, found the MAN that He was able to give the full inheritance to and God made His Son the heir of all things, hence, fulfilling in Him the purpose of creating man. But, because God is so kind, He has provided through His Son the atonement so that all who will believe in Him and be regenerated through the new birth will be given the opportunity to lay hold of the original purpose of our existence. Only through the Son and being made into His image and likeness can we enter the full purpose of our salvation since that purpose is related to and connected to sharing with the blessed Son of God the inheritance God has given Him as the King of all kings and ruler of all things! Hence, Jesus commands those who would follow Him to take up their cross, deny themselves and not allow anything on earth to become a treasure of the heart! Every believer must come to the place of living in the manner that Paul demonstrated by saying, “It is no longer I that live but Christ that lives in me.” Lose of reward, which is sharing in the full inheritance God has given to His Son in the age to come, will result in every life that fails to embrace Christ, by a living faith resulting in moral behavior that corresponds to Christ’s life. Remember, God’s original purpose in creating man was to secure for Himself a family that would be just like His Son, in moral purity and character, and hence, be able to give to them the place of proximity to himself that His Son occupies, as the glorified Man, excepting Deity, which belongs to Him alone and is not communicable. So, you can see that this great salvation is not about earth, or getting things in this life as our chief goal and joy. Nor is it about just getting saved and waiting to go to heaven. His salvation that He provided has in view His eternal purpose, the displaying for all eternity a family of Sons in the moral image of His only begotten Son, so that in them, HE may be praised and glorified for all eternity and that He will have a spiritual house, a holy temple, a lovely family where He is received and accepted as absolute King and Lord and in whom He sees the beauty of His own moral perfection! Presently the burden of the Lord is to bring this age to a close by displaying His Son’s full image and moral purity in those called to be His church, hence answering the prayer of His beloved Son. He prayed that all who believe would be one with Him in the same kind of oneness that He has with His Father! May God deliver us from the earthly; Christianity that is centered on man and the perishing things of this apostate age and open our eyes to see His ultimate intention for His Son and those who share in His moral character! Truly He is worthy and to Him belongs all praise, honor, glory, dominion, power and authority, now and forever, Amen! All will cast their crowns at His feet and forever will they stay there because He alone is the worthy Lamb that was slain for sinners such as we are.
