Sermon Transcription
God lives and works today. He is a Father of love, and therefore nothing concerns Him more than that His children be happy, thankful, joyful children in their Father's house. If you must sadly confess that your life isn't happy, listen to today's helpful meditation by Basilia Schlink called How to Become Satisfied. Are you dissatisfied? That can't be God's will, for He loves His children and creation. His love has done everything so that we might become happy and satisfied. Heavenly Father, I'm Thy child, is there better to be found than such loving union? Oh, how blessed to be with Thee, day and night secure to be by Thy love surrounded. Heavenly Father, I'm Thy child, tell me, is there anything in the world more blessed? How can trouble, hurt, or harm while I rest within God's arm? God esteems me precious. Do you think sadly, I certainly couldn't sing that song? God is showing you a way which is guaranteed to bring satisfaction so that you can't help but sing along. First of all, God asks you, why are you discontented? Perhaps you know the saying, the more you have, the more you want. It's true. The more a person wishes to have for himself, the less content he becomes. But the more he gives up for God in the way of time, energy, love, honor, and rights, the more content and happy he'll become. That is the way Jesus is calling us to go. In Matthew 10, verse 39, he tells us, he who loses his life for my sake will find it. In other words, when you begin to give up things instead of making demands upon God and people, you will experience what loving intentions God has for your life. Then your discontentedness will vanish, and you'll be filled with joy and happiness. Sacrifice you came to offer, I give myself and you. Grant me the grace to surrender, that then in me may see you. Bind me to you, my dear Jesus, I then will give you all. Gladly my treasure surrender, even those I love most of all. Sacrifice now my life shall be, my strength and time, my all. My life I give you entirely, yield everything when you call. Then so your power I am trusting, your cross shall safe renew, giving me ever the longing to bear my cross after you.
