Sermon Summary
Phil Beach Jr. emphasizes the significance of Isaiah chapter 12, which prophetically speaks of the transformative experience of encountering Christ. He highlights the Holy Spirit's role in calling believers to total submission and commitment, urging them to embrace the 'Jesus plunge' and draw joyfully from the wells of salvation. Beach explains that this 'day' refers to both a future fulfillment and the present moment when individuals recognize and accept Jesus as their Savior, leading to a life of praise and thanksgiving. He stresses the importance of faith in entering God's rest and experiencing the victory and joy that comes from a relationship with Christ. Ultimately, the sermon calls believers to actively engage in their faith and share the glory of God with the world.

Isaiah chapter 12 is a prophetic utterance describing this very event tonight. Ha ha ha. Isaiah chapter 12 is a prophetic utterance describing the very event tonight that's occurring in our midst. Friends, this call is going forth throughout the land. The searchlight of God's Spirit is going to every door of every house of every believer. And as you become acquainted with the Holy Spirit, you will discover immediately that God, the Holy Spirit, is a perfect gentleman. And He respects our wishes. It is His divine job to search out every church, to go beyond every denominational barrier, every label that men have put upon themselves, and to knock at the heart's door of every believer and offer the way of total submission, the way of full commitment. And some believers respond, some don't. Jesus gives many reasons why some don't. Other things preoccupy. But nevertheless, the Holy Spirit is preparing a people who, as one minister has said, will take the Jesus plunge. You know the iced tea plunge? Well, there's a people who's going to take the Jesus plunge. Isaiah chapter 12. In that day, and of course this, once again, is a scripture that can be referred to as the law of double reference. Many scriptures throughout the Old Testament. For example, I believe it's in the book of Hosea, the Bible says that God called His child, His son, out of Egypt. Now, the scriptures in the New Testament use that scripture as a fulfillment of when God called Jesus out of Egypt to go to the city of Jerusalem, after He had gone there to take refuge. So it referred prophetically to Christ, but it also referred to the nation of Israel. Because the nation of Israel went into Egypt, and God called them out of Egypt land, under the leadership of Moses. So that scripture would be called what Bible scholars, I guess that's what you call them, would refer to as the law of double reference. In that day, that day can refer to the future, when Israel will know her King, but it also refers throughout the ages, to any man that ever beheld the King. In that day, any day, any moment a soul catches a glimpse of the Savior, and has a life-transforming experience, this scripture is fulfilled. So this day, spiritually, is being fulfilled every day. But there's a moment in time when it will be fulfilled also. In that day you will say, I praise you, O Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away. How many have said that? I have. Friends, the moment we believe on Him, the Bible says God's anger, He's angry at the sinner all the day long, that's what the Bible says. But God took out all His anger on Calvary. He took out every bit of His anger on Calvary. So when a sinner realizes God's angry with him, then he goes to Calvary and sees God took out all His anger on Jesus. And that's why when we believe on Jesus, God is not angry with us anymore. In that day, you will say, I praise you, O Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away, and you have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation. I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord is my strength and my song. He has become my salvation. Now notice verse 3. I guess because it was so hot today, I got on the subject of water. But this is what we seem to be on today, water. Tonight, with joy, you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Friends, how do you draw water from the well? Isn't that what the woman asked Jesus? How are you going to get water from this well? You don't have anything. How do you draw water from the wells of salvation? Jesus said, Blessed are they in hunger and thirst. After righteousness, they shall be filled. Then he went on to say, Ask, and you shall receive. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and the door shall be opened. To draw water out of the well of salvation is to place your faith and trust in what Jesus Christ did for you. And then through faith, you ask, and keep asking. Seek, and keep seeking. Knock, and keep knocking. With joy, you will draw water from the wells of salvation. In that day, you will say, Can you see what's happening? There is a day tonight that the Lord wants to reveal to us and teach us to let in. It is not a day such as Monday, or Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday, or Friday, or Saturday, or Sunday. But this day is characterized by a binding place. Christ himself is this day that the Scriptures are speaking of. And whoever by faith enters into Christ bears the testimony and all the things that happened to each and every one of the wells in that day that the Scriptures refer to. In that day, you will say, Give thanks to the Lord upon his name. Make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things. Haven't you found it to be true that whenever by faith you enter into that day, you are into the presence of the Lord that songs of joy and praise suddenly come out from your innermost being? Isn't this the day that Paul was referring to when in Ephesians, I can't recall offhand, Ephesians chapter 5, verse 18, Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Then he goes on to say, Speak to one another with songs, hymns, spirits of songs. Sing and make melody and music in your heart to the Lord. All the way of singing thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. In that day, you will say, Give thanks to the Lord upon his name. Make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things. Let this be known to all the world. Shout loud and sing for joy. Ye people of Zion, for good is the Holy One of Israel among you. You see, in that day, we're in Christ who is the Sabbath rest of the Lord. Christ is the Sabbath day. We don't want to keep certain days for Christ himself. In that day, there is joy evermore. There is peace evermore. There is victory evermore. So, what would be the chief job of the Old Testament? To keep you out of that day. See, if you don't allow me that, then the Old Testament, what? Yourself, or the world. And I'll tell you, there's no songs of rejoicing. There's no shouts of victory. There's no making melody in your heart one way or another. Verse number five. Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things. Let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you. Hebrews. New Testament. Right after Philomenes. Let's begin in chapter three. Hebrews. Now remember, we began by speaking about war. The living war. Then we proceeded to show you that there's a cry in the Bible. The Word of God is crying. The Holy Spirit is crying for us to come to the war. Then, we then showed you how there is a certain day in the Scripture. And anyone who is in this day, whether it's a futuristic realization, or whether it's now, because Paul walks in this day. Anyone who walks in this day is experiencing in a spiritual way the things that this day refers to. You know, the Bible speaks of it in Isaiah 65. And in that day, a lion will lie down. And in Luke 10.19, Jesus said that his followers would have power to tread upon scorpions and serpents. Have power to tread upon a lion. So see, there's a victory in the day. In this day that we're referring to. Now we're going to find out in the New Testament that this day is none other than the Lord Jesus Himself. And as we enter in by faith, and learn the secret of communion with Him through His Word, through prayer, that we walk in that day, and the victory we share. Hebrews chapter 3. Therefore, holy brethren, who share in the heavenly call, fix your thoughts on Jesus. Whoever read the book of Hebrews was consumed with Jesus. Remember Hebrews chapter 12? He says, therefore, looking unto Jesus. Now in Hebrews chapter 3, he's saying, fix your thoughts upon Jesus. Boy, he really brought the attention of the people to Jesus. Didn't he? I like that. Fix your thoughts upon Jesus, the Apostle on high, Christ, whom we confess. He was faithful to the one who appointed Him, just as Moses was faithful in all God's house. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses. Just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's house, testifying to what would be said in the future. But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are His house. If we hold on to our courage and hope of which we boast. Now here is the cry of the Holy Spirit. So as the Holy Spirit says, today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion during the time of testing in the desert, when your fathers tested and tried me and for 40 years saw what I did. That is why I was angry with that generation and I said, their hearts are always going astray and they have not known my ways. So I declare from Booth in my anger, they shall never enter my rest. Now Jesus, the Holy Spirit here was referring to something much greater than the people of God entering into a certain dead. The rest here was the rest for their souls. Now what did Jesus say? Matthew chapter 12, Come unto me all you who are weary and I will give you rest. Christ is rest for our soul. Let's read on here. See to it, brothers, that none of you have a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be harmed by sin's deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ, if we hold firmly to the end, the confidence which we have at first. As has been just said, today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as you did in the rebellion. Who were they who murdered and rebelled? Were they not all that Moses led out of Egypt? And with whom was he angry for 40 years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert? And to whom did God swear that they would not enter his rest, if not to those who disobeyed? So we see that they were not able to enter because of their unbelief. Therefore, unbelief is a great, great snare. Unbelief prevents us from entering in to whatever rest Christ wants us to enter into. Unbelief will prevent a sinner from discovering the salvation available through Christ. But unbelief will also prevent a saint from discovering God's ability to provide for finances if they run short of a penny. So see, the struggle with unbelief is not just overcome. When we get saved, we say, well, praise God, I'm a Christian now. Unbelief refers to the sinner. No, unbelief is a daily struggle. Because it's only the faith, the heart of faith, that enters into the promise of salvation and then possesses it and allows Christ to fully manifest itself in every area. It's that heart of faith. So you can enter in, it's neither unbelief, and neither will you enter. This is why the writer of Hebrews is so keen in this revelation of believing. And we'll see that as we do. A silent rest for the people of God. Therefore, chapter 4, verse 1, Therefore, since the promise of bending his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the gospel preached to us just as they did. But the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard it did not combine it with faith. Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said. So I declare on oath in my anger they shall never enter my rest. And yet his work has been finished since the creation of the world. For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words. And on the seventh day God rested from all his work. And again, in the passage above, he says, they shall never enter my rest. It still remains that some will enter the rest. Those who formerly had the gospel preached to them did not go in because of their disobedience. Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it today. Paul refers to this day when he said, now is the day of salvation. Now is the accepted time. Behold, now is the day. You might say, well when is that day? The day of salvation and the day of victory is whenever a person hears and is able to receive and believe. That's the day, that's the time. Paul said, now is the accepted time. Behold, now is the day of salvation. Now listen here, let's go on here now. Therefore God set a certain day calling it today when an all time letter he spoke through David as was said before. Today if you hear his voice do not harden your hearts. For if Joshua had given them rest God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains then a sabbath rest for the people of God. Anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own word. Entering into God's rest is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. And continue in him. Continuing in him then what happens? Just as God did from his we cease from our own works. We cease from our own struggles. We enter in to the very life and provision of Christ himself. And he becomes the author and the perfecter of everything pertaining to us in that day. Now listen to this. Verse number 11. Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest. Now the King James says let us therefore labor that we might enter into rest. So it sounds like a contradiction of terms but it's not. The labor is to believe. As Jesus said after he was asked the question what must we do to work the works of God? Jesus said these are the works of God that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. And by believing you will have life. So the work is to believe. Now let me tell you something. When you get into the spiritual battle you're going to find out that it's work to believe. It is work to believe. I don't have enough time to work out my salvation friends. I don't have enough time to believe let it all take over. I stopped trying to work my salvation out long ago. Now I just have to believe. I just have to believe. And continue to believe and persevere. Because when the enemy comes you know how easy it is to get into a little rut. Because as soon as that faith and that belief is somehow calloused through the sullying of Satan what does that do? We lose access into that glorious day where Christ is and we no longer experience that victory and that joy. But it becomes a battle that we ourselves fight. One woman described it as the sunshine of that day grew dim to my eyes and the coldness of this cave enveloped my soul. The sunshine of that day grew dim to my eyes and the coldness of the cave enveloped my soul. She was describing an experience that she had having received the Lord. She was seduced and she was deceived and she drifted from the Lord and got off into something and she said, the sunshine of that day grew dim to my eyes and that cold cave got hold of her soul. So important. And I'll tell you the only place where you can believe is in His presence. See, it's by His presence that you have the power to believe. It's by His very life that you can believe. So, that's why we need Him. He is our very life. And this is what Satan's son fights to keep us out. This truth. Because this truth will change you and you'll change others. You'll change others. You can free other people by exemplifying the rest. Being in Christ. Do you ever see someone who's in the rest and he'll just get around and go crazy. It's like, it's so simple. See? This is what the Lord wants. The devil is such a liar. His kingdom is being shaken, people. His kingdom is being shaken. For when people enter into this by faith and begin to share in the power of that day, the power of Christ. Go forth, go forth. It's gonna happen. Verse number 11. Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest. How many were here when I preached on the 10 spiritual disciplines in 1 Peter? Make every effort. Curl up your mouth. Be sober. See? Make every effort. Do everything within the power of God's grace to keep yourself in the posture of believing God. In the posture of fellowshipping with God. In the posture of community and drinking of the springs of living water. In that posture then faith and belief reigns. And there's nothing, nothing that God can't do. So that none will fall by following their example of disobedience. And then of course, verses 12 and 13. For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give and count. See, anyone who believes has all of this diamond already inside partakers of Christ. But to enter in by faith and possess experiential what Christ has brought in a moment's time is the cry of the blind, is the cry of the unbeliever. If somebody had noticed years ago a person had a close relationship with God to the point where God would speak to this person about many different things. So this man decided he was going to attempt to almost tempt God. He was going to say, well, I'm going to ask this person a question about a certain area in my life. See what the person says. Thinking that this person would come and tell him exactly what to do, he went up to the person and said, thus, thus, and thus. And surprisingly, the spiritual person looked at this guy and said, sir, why don't you come to me and ask me it is the Lord Jesus Christ who wants to meet you. And I am of the opinion that Christ so longs for us to learn that we can go to him, sit at his feet, and learn all the things soon as we are born. But such a desire will create a severe attack by the wicked one. My world flesh, because such a place is the ultimate place where the Savior leads you and guides you. So let's remember today four things. One, there is a call. Jesus said, only his water can quench your thirsting soul, your thirsting spirit. Only his water can aid you and guide you, and meet your deepest needs. Second, there is a call of the Spirit to drink his water. Thirdly, there is a day that the Scripture speaks of, a day in which there is joy, there is singing, there is victory, there is shoutings. And fourthly, that day is fulfilled in Christ. Whoever enters by faith in Christ and continues in Christ by faith, pressing on as all, will abide in him and he in him. And there will be unlimited victory and power. So we start out with the water, and we end up with him. The way and access to the water is through him. And we come to him by faith and believe in him. And we keep faith, and we continue to believe at his feet. Looking unto Jesus, gazing to him, our faith continues. The Word of God becomes a book of life for us. And suddenly this Jesus will become your personal shepherd. That will shepherd you to every trial of your life. Shepherd you to every dark town. And lead you into their image. Believe that today. So let us continue I'm sure Brad took a second look before I drank my water and there's a lot of protein in there. Protein? I'd rather let the spiders eat that.
