Sermon Summary
This sermon emphasizes the importance of personal revival as a precursor to seeking revival for others. Drawing from the example of Ezra in the Bible, it highlights the need for confession, weeping, and trembling at the word of God as essential elements of revival. Obedience to God's commandments is stressed as a key factor in experiencing personal transformation and preparing for revival.
Sermon Transcription
I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, in whose name every person shall bow and every person shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. It's an honor to have a chance to address you briefly. I acknowledge our brother Greg Gordon for arranging this and my name is Edgar Reich. I'm called to revival. We will have a revival conference in New Jersey in the spring at some time point and we ask your prayers for that. But perhaps let me also share with you that revival starts individually with us. Revival must start with me. I cannot pray for revival for others and not be prepared to be revived myself. Often the question is asked, what is revival? And if I may read a passage to you from Ezra chapter 10 verse 1. Now while Ezra was praying and while he was confessing, note confessing, note weeping and bowing down before the house of God, a very large congregation of men, women, and children assembled to him from Israel, for the people wept very bitterly. And revival has started with the prophet Ezra because we read in the prior chapter where he said in Ezra 9.3, so when I heard this thing and that was when the people of Israel continued to sin after 70 years having been corrected by God in the land of Babylon. And he said in verse 3 here, so when I heard this thing, I tore my garment and my robe and plucked out some of the hair of my head and beard and sat down astonished. After 70 years of correction, after 70 years of being in bondage, after 70 years of being in slavery, they were permitted to come to their homeland and yet they were sinning. And then in verse 4 it says that everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel assembled to me because of the transgressions of those who had been carried away captive. And I sat astonished until the evening sacrifice. And so revival started here with the people trembling at the words of God. And beloved, if you don't tremble at the words of God, then without obedience there can be no revival. Without us turning to our God and to our Savior Jesus Christ there can be no revival. So I encourage you during this conference in Victoria that you open up your hearts and that perhaps you weep bitterly, perhaps you tremble at the word of God and thereby turn away the fierce wrath of God that Ezra saw in verse 14 of chapter 10. So let us turn away the fierce wrath of God from our nation because we have turned all to our own ways. And so we encourage you to reach out to this wonderful name of Jesus and to ask the Holy Spirit to come upon you in a new way. In my case, the first step was that I needed to give up sinning. Every time I prayed and I asked for revival and I said, I love you Lord, He answered me immediately and He said, if you love me, keep my commandments. If you love me, keep my commandments. Without obedience there can be no change in my life. Without obedience to God, there can be no new Edgar Reich. Without obedience, revival will tarry. And so I ask you to commit yourselves in a new way to our Lord and God and our Savior Jesus Christ in obedience. Reach out to Him and He will do marvelous and wonderful things through you and in you and use you mightily for His glory. I have been called to go on a revival bus tour around America and Canada and I ask you to pray for me under revivalusacanada.org. The Lord be with you and bless you. Goodbye for now.
