Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the preacher emphasizes the importance of repentance and loving the Lord with all one's heart. He explains that when the mind is focused on worldly things, it leads to misery and torment. However, when the mind is set on the things of the Spirit, such as love, joy, and peace, it brings freedom and a desire to help others. The preacher also highlights the need to walk in peace and obedience to God's law, rather than claiming peace while living in disobedience. The sermon concludes with the message of reconciliation and the call to be born again through faith in Jesus Christ.

Folks, what are we going to do with the Word of God? Hey folks, I want to ask you something. How can anything get clearer when the Lord opens it up to us? It's been there all the time. The Lord just got ready for us now to see it. You say, well, why ain't anyone saying it? Folks, when you're trusting in intellect, academics, and men to see something, you're not trusting the Lord. Let me ask you something. Why hadn't you seen it? Because you've been putting your trust in men. And the men you've been putting your trust in have been putting their trust in doctrines of men and the precepts of men. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Let's just continue there. For those who are walking according to the flesh, they set their minds on things of the flesh, but those who are walking according to the Spirit, they have their minds set on what? Look at me, folks. If I had never repented and known love of the Lord with all my heart, my mind is going to be set on the things of the flesh right up there. My mind is going to be full of jealousy, unforgiveness, resentment, stealing, hatred, criticism, rebellion, revengeance, sarcasm, bitterness. I'll be entertaining things in my life by mind all the time like that and be walking in misery. That's torment. You know it? But if you have love of the Lord with all your heart, your mind is set on the things of the Spirit. Love, joy, peace, love of the Lord. How can I go help somebody? I'm so full of God. I'm so full I've got to go find somebody to slosh on. Now this is what God does to me. He fills us so full of love that we have to go find a whosoever will out here. You don't show partiality. You go find somebody that's really hurting that you can help them to. Now that's the way God made us. Amen? So we become ministers of reconciliation. We become ambassadors. And we take this word of reconciliation and we've been reconciled and we go down and say be reconciled. Be reconciled back to God. You're down with the devil now. Repent. Be reconciled back to God. And then you no longer live for yourself but you live for him who died for you. You become a new creation. You came as a flesh to be born into this world and through the Spirit you're going to have a pure heart like Jesus and then you're going to be born into heaven. That's how you're born again through the Word of God. You're going to be washed by the Spirit and the Word. Amen? Glory be to God. Now let me ask you something. He said faithfully. He called you and he's going to bring it to pass. Now if you don't want to walk in faith you just don't believe. You believe you've got something to do with it. You know what I'm saying? But it means you have to walk in faith. What is faith? Showing up? Faith? It's when you let Jesus control your life. If the Spirit of God shows you did something wrong, don't walk in stubbornness. Repent. Go make it right for that person. Amen? Because you do everything under the Lord. And you know what happens? All heaven is poured out on you. You don't have to wait until you get to heaven. It's poured out on you right here. Most people don't even know what their doctrines believe because they're so led and controlled by men. They don't even read the Bible. That's how men can control them. They don't know what their Bible says but then they can be controlled by men. I was dying and crawling around on my knees and I talked to a pastor about being anointed with oil. I found that scripture. I thought it was pretty good. They lay hands on us. I'm anointed. If any among you is sick. I was sick. I was dying. Doctors already sent me home to die. If any among you is sick, let him call for the elders of the church. Let them know I'm anointed with oil and he will be restored. Boy, I like that. A dying man can get pretty innocent of what God has to say about healing. Amen? Verse 6, For if your mind is set on the flesh, it's what? I can't hear you. Death is working in your life. Is that what your Bible says? Look at me, folks. Does the law bring death? Is it a ministry of death? 2 Corinthians 3, 7, just write it in there. The law is a ministry of death. Right? So if your mind is set on things, flesh instead of the spirit, death is working in you because flesh has got your heart. That's what you're interested in. That's what you love. You don't love and honor God. But look here at what happens in the next part of it. But if your mind is set on the spirit, life instead of death is working in you. Isn't that right? You're living, plus the fact you have peace. And that's exactly what I was talking about because when you live in the spirit of God, you walk in peace. Until you stumble, if you stumble and happen to sin, you're going to lose that peace. Then you repent, getting on the blood, you're getting on the blood, and you don't get on the blood just then, you get on the blood by turning from it, and when you put on the blood, God no longer sees you breaking the law and the powers of darkness have no more ground in your life and they have to butt out and back off. We're going to get free of a few of them things this week. You know that, don't you? Does it say you're supposed to walk in peace? We've been taught to say, I have peace although I'm walking in the stubbornness of my heart. See, that's a false peace. To be taught that you're walking in peace while you're breaking God's commandments of God's law, there's no peace in it. There's no peace for wicked folks. That's over. The mind set on the flesh is death. Now let's look there in the next verse. Seventh. Because the mind is set on the flesh, you're hostile to God and you're not subjecting yourself to the law of God and not even able to do so. Amen? Right? Well, let's just go a little further. Let's get on through over. Turn over to Galatians 5. Let's see how we do. Are you seeing now how we overcome? I can't hear you. I know this is a little familiar to some of you that's kind of sitting in some of these meetings and so forth, but I tell you what, we might see some new things in here. So, the law of the Spirit sets you free from the law... Now, look at me right here. The law of the Spirit sets you free from the law of sin and death. Isn't that correct? Why does the law of the Spirit set you free? Because the law of the Spirit leads you to put the death of Jesus in the flesh that breaks God's law. Isn't that right?
