You're all mighty smart people, I tell you. You will zero in on the biggest bankers' check which is going. You will take it, you'll snatch it, you'll grab it, and you'll hold tight to it. And you will also run away next morning when the bank opens. You'll be the first person there. I have not a shadow of doubt. Well, this may not apply to a handful of people, a few people here. But, generally speaking, that's the kind of attitude we have towards the promises of God. Oh, my dear friends, this kind of lame and sick religion is not the kind of religion that you see in Acts 28 and verse 23. And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging, to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus. Both out of the law and Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. Here, Paul was carrying the fight to Rome. He was dismantling their unbelief. They all said, hey, we have heard of this sect. We know that everywhere it is spoken against. Why didn't you tell Paul, Paul, this is no way, this is no manner in which you should employ your time. Why don't you get ready for your impending case before Nero, the emperor? Why don't you supplicate for your own life to be spared? This is no way in which you ought to be spending the last few days of your life. Well, my dear friends, if modern, modern reasoning would have its way, that's the kind of advice we would have given to Paul. Well, you've been at it from morning till evening, testifying of the kingdom of God, and setting forth the peerless Savior. My dear friends, why are we not able to set forth Jesus before a world which is being threatened with Islamization? Everywhere I see people buckling. They haven't got the spiritual or moral strength to withstand this advance of the Islamic blood bath and heathen religions. They just don't have. And shall we also succumb and say, well, you know, others are wilting, others are withering, others are failing, so what can I do? I'm nobody. True, we are nobody. But our Savior is somebody. Lack of love. That's all it is. It just boils down to simple matter. Lack of love, out of which comes lack of commitment. Lack of holiness. Lack of power. Oh, my beloved people. It does not matter at all to me, even if there are just three or four people. But this is the real seat of the trouble. This is where the battle is taking place. Satan is out to get your love. And then he has taken the fortress of man's soul, your soul. May God help us that we too will be occupied as Jesus was. And when the evening was come, Christ was there alone on the mountain. Let us pray. Father, how many evenings I have squandered. How rare are the evenings which have found me closeted with you. Forgive me. Cleanse me. What a failure in love. Lord, help me to recognize this fact. That the devil is cuddling my love. Torpedoing my love. Forgive me, Lord. Teach me to go to your promises. And turn the battle to the enemy's gates. Gracious Father, thank you again, thank you again, thank you again. That we can come and just look into the mirror of your word. And see how far short we are falling. In Jesus' holy name. Amen.
