I'd like to invite you to turn your Bibles to 1st Peter, chapter number 1. And I would like to begin reading from verse number 1. 1st Peter chapter 1. We're going to be going to a particular verse that we're going to use as a text this morning. And what we want to do this morning is help you to understand why such a statement was made. And friends, it is my sincere desire this morning that God would grant to us eyes that see and ears that hear. Because this particular message in the Word of God has the potential to literally transform and change our entire outlook on this life and also in the life to come. We briefly touched upon this message a few weeks ago when we ministered on our inheritance, but we've condensed it and made it more understandable so that as a result this morning we can be instructed in the Word of God and as a result be strengthened in our faith. And as we're strengthened in our faith, then we are all edified and we are built up together and we are better equipped to be the servants that God desires us to be in Christ. So I want to ask the Lord even before we begin reading for his assistance. I want to just acknowledge publicly that we need him. Father, we thank you that you have called us together this morning and we thank you for the fellowship that we have had, that fellowship in the Son. And now Lord God, we come to a time when the Word of God is to be to us life and enlightenment. Lord, I pray that you would give to us, that you would grant to us the spirit of wisdom and knowledge and understanding that we might be able to grasp and comprehend the unsearchable riches, the unsearchable treasures, the unsearchable privileges that we have obtained now that we are in Christ, believers washed in the blood. Father, do this work I pray, in Jesus name, amen and amen. First epistle of Peter, beginning in chapter 1 verse 1. Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, Bithynia, who are chosen according to the full knowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, that you may obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with his blood. May grace and peace be yours in fullest measure. Wow, what an introduction. Like I said, we don't want to get off on these introductions because there's so much in them, they can take up an entire time that's designated for something else, at least that's what they say. Verse number 3. Blessed be God, I guess so, after that introduction, that's the natural thing to bless God. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold, which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from the dead, who is risen from
