My dear friends, those who are in the retreat, that are who are in the camp, it is very important that you should be present after supper at the family prayer tonight. It is a short family prayer, but it is very important for everyone who has registered to be in the retreat. That is the family prayer right after your supper. Let us turn to John chapter 14. From the eighth verse, John chapter 14 and the eighth verse, Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it suffiseth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me, hath seen the Father. And how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you, I speak not of myself. But the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. But the Father who dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Some of you have come from various parts of the world. And the various regions of this country. And you have been busy with a lot of works. You have been busy with your legitimate works, your goals. But how much of that activity was from God? You know people are very busy these days. Some people to support themselves and their families are actually holding three jobs, two, three jobs. And then their wives are working. Children are doing part time work. It seems like some of us are working mad. Some people of course are very lazy, nothing changes them. But here the Lord Jesus says, The works that I do, my Father does those works. That is, the Father, the Living God, he does the works. Now we of course take full credit for any small achievement. We say, I did the job. I, I, I. Let me tell all of you, including all Mr. I's. The more I see life and how little I am serving God, I see the works of God and say, you did it Lord, you did it. I don't have the power, I don't have the wisdom. It is your works. But then I am also deeply disappointed inside. Alright, he is doing the works, then how big those works should be. They should be nation shaking works. Because it is God who is doing the works. Or you know, if it is human organization, everything is a problem. Money is a problem. You know, it is not easy for even electrifying a hall like this. And with the poor electric supply, the generators which must keep a meeting like this going, Well, that is all heavy cost. Diesel price, so expensive. Then what about all the water supply? You know, our retreats are like little towns. Some towns are not even as big as our retreats. Well, what about the water supply? Then what about the right health provision for protection, for health and shelter? And then what about the food? See, if it is human organization, everything becomes a big problem. When God did it, I am the Lord your God that brought you out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Then rivers ran out of rocks. Where do you get rivers out of dry desert rocks? God provided the electricity. His light, shining upon the camp. So, daily, they went and gathered their food. Ready cooked food. The Bible says they ate angel's food. So, when God did it, it seemed so simple. For how many people? Three million people approximately. And it was nothing for God. See, look at the difference in scale when God works. When it is all your work and your organization and your management system, Oh, everything can stall. The works, hinder the works. Something goes wrong, the whole thing is disrupted. But you know, there are no problems with God. No, I want to tell you, I feel that religious people are demented, something wrong with their thinking. They don't understand that when they go to the Lord Jesus, now they are entering a different level, different realm, different scale. How absurd it would be if I had an interview with one of the big people in the world, and I said to him, please give me ten pennies. Wouldn't you say that I am absolutely mad? Many of our prayers and requests made to the Lord are so absurd, so small. He does the works. Philip, you have been with me all this time, have you not recognized? These are not works which man can do. What some Mahatma can do is my father who doeth the works. My dear friends, do we really want to see the works of God? See, some of you can get lost in your shopping, shirt hunting and sari hunting. Oh, I must get this kind and that kind, so particular, so choosy. No, those things occupy our minds very much, as you know. Oh, I must build a house. By the way, I never thought of building a house for myself. All these years that I have served the Lord, I have thought about building His kingdom. I have never thought of just some comfort for myself. I hear that some of the older preachers are getting a little anxious. First of all, you should have never entered into the work of God. If you were following a God who will not keep you to your grey hair, if you were a man who could not believe that God could take care of you till there wasn't anything upon your bald head, why did you come to God's work? You have been serving some miserable idea of your own. Let us turn to Psalm 33 33 and the fourth verse. It says, All the works of God Psalm 33 and verse 4 For the word of the Lord is right and all His works are done in truth. His works are done in truth. You cannot take anything out of His works. There is no way by which you can add to His works. His works are done in truth. If you turn to Psalm 86 and verse 8 Among the gods there is none like unto you, O Lord See, listen If you and I can't prove this in India and China and Burma and Indonesia and unbelieving England and France We are unfit to call ourselves the disciples of Jesus Look at this Among the gods there is none like unto you, O Lord Neither are there any works like unto your works So when people look at you and your works They must clearly see I have never seen works of this order or kind ever There are no works like unto your works So if you turn to the 111th chapter of Psalms You will see You will see 6, 7 and 8 He has showed his people the power of his works That he may give them the heritage of the heathen My dear friends Today I looked into the newspaper The leaders of India were celebrating what they call the first war of independence Do you know what it is really? It was the mutiny of the sepoys It took place first in the city of Meerut On a Sunday morning When the army officers had gathered in the church to worship Suddenly the cowardly sepoys fell upon them and slaughtered all of them Men, women, children And then Nana Sahib the ruler he gloated saying that we sent all the Christians to hell Not one of them we permitted to live Did you ever read that in any history book? I am giving you an account of from a contemporary an unbiased observer I am telling you an honest person You are sitting with your wife and children in your house Or maybe you are praying and worshipping God with closed eyes Suddenly a bunch of people come and slaughter your children your wife and you Do you call them heroes or cowards? Now tell me What does your intelligence say? So when the people were praying with closed eyes unarmed they were slaughtered Men, women, children Children and women have found no mercy before these killers the Al-Qaeda of that day Al-Qaeda Look at the blindness which may celebrate such butchering Let us pray for the leaders of this country that some little truth will get into their hearts A coward is no hero Someone who kills innocent people in cold blood are not to be celebrated and commemorated after 150 years No, my dear friends Then let us all celebrate the Al-Qaeda Let us celebrate all the killers in Kashmir Oh my dear people All God's works are done in truth So what do we see here? What do we see here? Sixth verse He showed his people the power of his works that he may give them the heritage of the heathen See, we are not asking for the souls of these men We are not asking for the souls of these men Some of you work very hard to make the builders of your company or the bosses millionaires and multi-millionaires Some of you work very hard to make the builders of your company millionaires and multi-millionaires I don't I don't see many of you creating jobs and being those that are entrepreneurs I don't see many of you creating jobs Oh yes call center gives me so much money So I'll sit there all night What does God say? My works I will show you the power of my work I will give you the heritage of the heathen See, our prayer has become little selfish complaints complain about this man complain about some music complain about some little thing complain about some little thing Seventh verse The works of his hands are verity and judgment Eighth verse They stand fast forever and ever So the works of God are imperishable You can't put them away After you are gone they will live on What are you doing? Your own works Your own steam Your own brain Or is it your father doing the work If you turn to Acts 2 chapter You see the church is being inaugurated But how is it inaugurated You know here are a few despised people who were already being hunted persecuted people who were already But they were praying They were praying with one accord They could have said Brothers If we are all going to be bunched up together like this The enemies can come upon us and kill us at one stroke So they may even bulldoze this building If they were stricken with fear Each one of them would have found shelter in some corner But when they were praying The power of God came upon them And people who had gathered in Jerusalem from all that region Mediterranean region people who had gathered in Jerusalem 11th verse Cretans and Arabians We hear them speak in our own languages The wonderful works of God Look at that They were all On what were they focusing The works of God And they were proclaiming these great works in the languages which they did not know Look at the difference between them and us Even in the languages that we do know Even in the languages that we do know We tell people how big we are how great we are what wonderful people what degrees we have got we are doing this and doing that But we do not declare the mighty works of God How sad this is So many of us gathered here Let us be warned Religion has become an entertainment today In the early retreats If one or two of us would come together or meet We would pray The whole place was full of prayer The presence of God everywhere We were not inclined to boast there was nothing to boast of We were not inclined to boast there was nothing to boast of Today Some of you have big degrees And when you go for your job interviews Entry level jobs that is a beginner's job You are being offered five lakhs six lakhs Oh you say no IT people are offering me nine and ten lakhs million that is a million Oh you say ten lakhs more So you are involved more your mind is taken up with money Why do you want God God and the world don't go together Some of you are just wanting the world Is this some kind of game we are engaged in Or do we really want to see the works of God Here in the sixth chapter of John 28th verse Then said they unto him What shall we do that we might work the works of God What shall we do These men had just had that wonderful time when the five loaves and the fishes were multiplied And they went seeking after Jesus 27th verse So Jesus said to them labor not for the meat which perisheth but for the meat which endureth unto everlasting life Which the Son of Man shall give unto you For him has God the Father sealed Then they said What shall we do We too want to do the works of God We too want to do the works of God 29th verse Jesus answered and said This is the work of God That you believe on him whom he has sent Now my dear friends This little platform has been lifted as you know Do you think it's going to collapse suddenly If I didn't believe this mechanism and the hydraulic system I would say Hey, it won't bear my weight But I believe it will bear my weight If I could jump five feet I would do so I didn't have a single doubt about the mechanism below me When you look at the cross What an open check God gives you So that you should be like Jesus He dies for you How can the eternal God die for you How can the eternal God die for you He became a man in order to die for you And having given his own life And having given his only son And having given his only son How shall he not also with him freely give us all things I have been a very poor explorer I have explored very little of this greatness That is why I am very disappointed with myself I don't worry much about this man is doing like this, that man is talking like this See I am not like Jesus I am not doing the works of Jesus I am not allowing God to do all my work I am not putting my full weight upon him I find that the oriental mind, the Indian mind Is a very subtle clever mind It somehow believes in its own cunningness All right I will have faith, I will have religion But secretly I will be doing one or two things But secretly I will be doing one or two things My dear friend You cannot put a fox in your heart and call yourself a Christian That subtle nature That subtle nature It does not speak of believing entirely upon Jesus Christ You believe in your trickery and your cleverness I don't know if some of you have spoken any lies this week This is the work of God That you believe on him whom he has sent Shall we believe with all our hearts Lord Jesus There is none like you There is no sacrifice ever made for my sins like your death upon the cross There is no sacrifice ever made for my sins like your death upon the cross What riches it would be to me if all my works were not mine not mine anymore but yours May the Lord help you Let us pray Let us tell God Lord Jesus I don't want to trust my cleverness Take away my cunning and my subtle nature My wrong thoughts and my wrong words Oh I want my works to be from you Lord Jesus Otherwise my whole life would be just a little handful of dust Did you buy me with your own blood Did you buy this worthless dust with your own blood I want to see your works I want to see your works I don't want all these wonderful stuff that goes on around me Help me to believe in Jesus with all my heart To believe in your promises What a Savior you are Lord Jesus We fall at your feet We want your works We want you to work in us We want that which is eternal Not which will burn up in a moment Deliver us Lord Jesus Let us not be so foolish as to court the world Forgive us Lord Jesus We too want to say the works that I do He doeth the works My Savior doeth the works Hear our prayer In Jesus name Amen And now may the grace of our Lord Jesus the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit be with you dear people Amen
