Selfish Nature of Satan
Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

Selfish nature of Satan. You're going to take up your cross. He didn't say he's going to say some words and it's all over. No, you're gonna take up your cross. How do you take up your cross? First Peter 4, 1 and 2, you're like the Lord Jesus Christ, you're going to suffer in the flesh but cease and sin. And you come to each one of these sins here, pride, anger, unforgiveness, resentment, anything. You're going to choose against them because you love God more than you do them. You're choosing the nature of God rather than the nature and character of Satan. So you'll overcome them. You will overcome. You will overcome. And he who overcomes is going to sit on the throne with me. Is that what your Bible says? Spiritual warfare is not going to church in the rain. Amen? So I no longer war after the flesh. I no longer war after the flesh. In other words, I no longer war after the character and nature of Satan. I've laid it down. I'm only going to do the good thing. Now God has said vengeance is mine. I've already got laws to take care of everybody that ever does anything against you. Everything that comes out of mouth, they're judged. He said judgment's mine. You get back over in 2 Peter 3, I mean James 4, 11 and 12, and it said don't speak against your brother because when you speak against your brother, you judge the law. And when you judge the law, you're not a doer of the law. Don't do it. I'm the judge. He said I'm the one that saves and destroys. Verse 12. Let me do the judging. Well, in other words, when you have anger, unforgiveness, resentment, the nature, you war after the flesh, you're saying I'm gonna be judged God. And you put judgment on your brother and see that's the reason word curses get on people. You become a judge. You're to bless. You don't curse. The harlot curses. The adulteress curses. It comes and bless God and then comes over here and curses men. This wisdom doesn't come from the wall above. That's the way the wall walks. The flesh is. And the demonic, it's leading you to do it. The spirit of Satan leads you to do it. Says, go on you. Submit to God. Submit to the whole council of God and start resisting that devil. Didn't say ignore him. He said resist him. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded, trying to walk away from the nature of Satan and the nature of God. A double-minded man received nothing from God. Cleanse your hands and purify your hearts, you sinners, you double-minded rather. Because the whole purpose is covenant, to get in the presence of God. And you don't get in the presence of God, you have hands in the pure heart. That's the reason it said, let your joy turn into gloom. You weep and you cry out to God in verse 9 and then in verse 10, you move into the presence of God where he can exalt you. But God resists the proud and he gives grace to the humble. Proud folks are still holding on the flesh. Humble people know there's no other way except Jesus. And so that makes us all one. I don't care if he blessed you with more intellect. In a world of strong lord it over the weak because they walk out the nature and character of Satan. Everyone has distrust and suspicion toward one another in the world because they have the nature and character of Satan. They don't trust anyone, each other. They don't understand why they don't trust each other. And they'll never understand till they come and see the true gospel and see that they've got the character and nature of Satan. But the world has moved into the church. And so that's why we're so divided, we're so confused, and we're so defeated. And down through the years we've been so programmed to please men that you start anywhere in the Word of God, the contrary tradition, then a pastor gets thrown out the window. When I was a little boy, they drove me to church. I lived right next door to the Baptist Church. I went in there and the deacons took the pastor down there and going to whip him down in the basement. I can't tell you what that did to me the rest of my life. A little pastor's come out of Carson-Newman right there. And they stayed at my house. My mother, you know, she really loved the Lord. And they stayed at my house. And I'd watch them one right after another and come out of those schools, just sweet people, some little old wives and everything. I'd get chewed up and spit out. I never did understand it. And through all my problems, I went through all those day of years and everything of hell and jails and drugs and I was wanting help. I had to get into drugs. I wasn't wanting to get into drugs and things like that. I did that because it's the only way I could stand it. People go to drugs because they're so demonized. They don't see. When you go to, when you don't go to Jesus, you've got to go to alcohol or drugs.
