He was a very dear old gentleman to me. He was an elder in the church where I was. And he used to say, if God don't hear my cries, he hears my tears. Amen. He hears my tears, he said. Blessed be the name of our Lord. There are things that speak louder than words, beloved. And that's what the Lord really wants. Someone that knows, someone that gets hold of God. There is a love that will never let you go. Amen. It's blessed when by the Spirit it is shed abroad in the hearts of men and women. Glory be to the name of the Lord. And never will let go. Amen. Never. Samuel said to the rebellious soul, he said, God forbid that I should sin against thee in ceasing to pray for thee. That's what he said to the rebellious soul. God forbid that I should sin against thee in ceasing to pray for thee. Have you ever thought that prayerlessness can be sin? Amen. There are sins that are far more subtle than the ugly, blatant, outward things. God wants us to understand and move in that great realm of life and power. Oh, what a wonderful thing it is. And here is the great privilege that God grants his people. And through Jesus Christ we come in and we really get hold of God. Turn with me for a moment or two to John's Gospel. Just a little of the true prayer life that God wants us to live, beloved, in John chapter 16. He's talking to his disciples. The cross is just ahead. He's shortly going to pray the prayer of his life on the way to the garden of betrayal and the court of injustice. And the cross of death. And he gathers his disciples around him and they're moving. And in verse 19 Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him and said unto them, Do ye inquire among yourselves that I said a little while and ye shall not see me, and again a little while and ye shall see me? Verily, verily I say unto you that you shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice. And ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. It's a marvelous thing that Jesus can turn sorrow into joy. Has he ever done it for you? Turn sorrow into joy. No psychiatrist has ever discovered that secret has he? No scientist has ever got there has he? Politics can't reach that can they? Money can't do that can it? Armies can't do any of that can they? Navies and air forces and kings and queens and statesmen can't do anything about that can they? I turn sorrow into joy. Glory to God. Did you ever know anyone like Jesus? Did you ever hear of anyone like him? Amen. We have a way of turning joy into sorrow. You've done it many a time for people haven't you? Haven't you? Be honest. Shattered them. Let's read the next verse. A woman, when she is in travail, hath sorrow, because her hour is come. But as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish for joy that a man is born into the world. Amen. And you now, therefore, has sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. Whatever is he talking about? The resurrection. That's what he's talking about. That's the thing that turns sorrow into joy. The resurrection. Hallelujah. I'll see you again. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Isn't this glorious? Let's go on shall we? And in that day, when you've got joy that no one can take from you, I want to tell you a story about this. It's this kind of evening tonight. I know a young man. He lived over in the southeast corner of England, where I used to live there a long time ago now. And I got to know him because a nephew of mine was friendly with him. And this nephew of mine came to know the Lord, and he started to talk to his pal. And he so talked to him that this boy, who it appears was just about waiting, he must have had a heart that was ready to receive the seed. You never know these people you've been with. You don't know what's really going on behind the facade of all the things that they put on. You don't know. Anyway, this nephew of mine spoke to this boy, his friend. And this young fellow, he was pushing a cycle along the road. He leaned in over on the hedge, and he knelt down there in the road, and he received Jesus into his heart. Well, you know what happened. Those of you who know that when people really mean it like that, they don't care who knows or who cares or what people think. They don't mind their best trousers and kneel down what happens, and they kneel down in the road. It's very rare, very rare. You know what happens, don't you? He was so changed, immediately, absolutely transformed. His mother and father thought he'd gone absolutely round the bin. He went out one way and came in another. He went out one kind of boy and came in another boy. Absolutely radically changed. He didn't have a Bible, but he had one given to him. He spent his days, he was working on a farm at this time. He worked amongst the, you know, he was the cowhand. Sorry, pigs, swineherd, in one of these better classes. Really, when they do it properly, you know. You know, where was I the other day, driving somewhere. You know, I drive all over the place, some people, people usually drive me. And we passed... I didn't say round the bin. And I, we came to a bend in the road. And as we turned, we had to slow to turn. And I read over and it said, a mootel. I thought, what is this? What a highfalutin name for a cowshed. Better class cows. Somebody, a mootel. I tell you, I see things when I go round. I couldn't tell you what cowshed. I thought it must have been Devon. No, I think it was in Gloucestershire. No, but... Praise God, this boy, he went home, and he got a Bible and he started to read it. His mother came in the room, snatched it out of his hand. Raved at him. Tore it up. So he went and got another one. Sat down, started to read it. His mother raged at him. Snatched it away from him. He never resisted her. Burned it. When he got another one, she said, You're not coming here, reading that in our house. Not having it. This Jesus business. The rage at Jesus in people's hearts. They won't have it. You talk about God, that's not too bad. But when you start talking about Jesus, that does it. Yeah. They don't mind you talking about God. But that name seems to do it. Oh, I don't know. It really is terrible. Well, anyway. She said, You're not going to have it. So, he put it in his pocket. And she searched his jacket when he went inside. And she destroyed it. And he got another one. Very good. Ah. The heart that was hungry for God. And she called him in his bedroom. Reading it on his knees. She pulled over him by the hair and pulled him off his feet. Pulled him round her room. Cursed him. Well, he just went through. He never complained. He used to say, Pray for my mum, will you? Never argued. Never answered back. He got something genuine. He got it real. People got enough to make them argumentative. You know, like some people when they drink beer. They drink enough to get argumentative. You see. Went through. And so, this time he got a Bible. And he hid it in the pig shed. And he used to go out and have his quiet time with the stinking pigs. With God. That's right. And he prayed. And he abode. And God broke through in that home. Beloved. Because he was faithful. You see. It's so wonderful, beloved, when God does this. And I want to encourage you people. You believe God. You get hold of God. If you've got the heart of a chicken in you. Change it for the heart of the lamb. Be, be strong. Stand up to it. Don't run away. Stay with it. Amen. Glory be to God. God can do something. I know that there are circumstances when you just have to get out. We know that. But normally speaking, stay with it. And let the Lord work his work. Your joy. Nobody takes from you. Verse 22. This boy just overflowed with joy. Glory. And it's absolutely true. When you're joyful, you're strong. When you're joyful, you're strong. The weak person is a person without joy every time. It's the joy. Hallelujah. Joy means that you've really got it sufficiently to be enjoying it. That's right. It's moved you into reality. It's done something for you. And God, he gives this thing. And you know that there's nothing so infectious as joy. You try it. Everybody's miserable. The infectious thing is joy. Isn't it? Yes, it's glory, isn't it? All right, let's go on. And in that day, verse 23. He says, you shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Amen. My word. Do you really believe that? Do you really believe that? Glory be to God. Let's go on. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name. See? They used to come and ask in their own name. They said, come and heal my daughter, please. Come and make my mother better, please. Come and do this. They didn't. Nobody had ever asked in his name. He told his disciples that. You've never asked in my name. How about that? What do you think of it? All right, this is what he says. Ask. And ye shall receive that your joy may be full. You ever seen a person lose what joy they had? It may be. It's because they keep on asking the Lord. They think they are for things they don't get them. You see? And their faith gets undermined. And doubts come in. You see? Oh, glory. When we move into the place where we ask in Jesus name. That is really for his sake alone. That is really that he may be glorified. Really. That it might be his will that's working. Really. Hallelujah. That you know that you are asking the thing that Jesus would ask. All right? Now you've prayed tonight. Do you really believe that you asked for the thing that Jesus would have asked for if he'd have sat in your chair? I'm not trying to cast a doubt in your mind. But we'd better face reality. So, of course, we know. He wants our schools to be better. He wants our queen to be better. He wants our kingdom. He wants horse racing gone out. He wants gambling finished. He wants this. He wants that. He wants that. Well, all right. Why doesn't he do it then? He's had a long time to do it if he really wanted to. If his will was set to do it. You've got to do that. He has said that this old world of ours is going to get worse and worse and worse and worse. That's what he said. That's what he said. Yeah. We're not going to pray that it gets worse and worse and worse. But in the midst of it, we've got to know what he wants in these days. And we've got to pray for these. Oh, God, save all our doctors. Well. Oh, God, save all our nurses. Oh, God, save all our politicians. You see, well, all those things that are being said to God, you'd have thought they would all have been saved by now, wouldn't you? Do you know the great Finney, who became the greatest preacher, probably, that America had? He was an unsaved, godless man. But he was religious. He used to go down to the church, you see. And he was a lawyer. He didn't care much about this, that and the other. And everybody knew he lived a worldly, godless life, going to church. And one day, one of the deacons in the church said, Would you like us to pray for you now, for our meeting? He said, No, you've never done any good yet. No, you've never accomplished anything yet. That's what Finney told them. He saw things as bare as a pole. There came a day when Finney got, he really got born again. Something happened to Finney. And God moved in that man tremendously. And he wrote a series of things called, Lectures on Revivals of Religion. He was a great authority of them, because wherever he went, that's what happened. And you'll read what he says about prayer. I advise you to buy his book. I advise you to do it. It's better than reading about witchcraft to Christ, or all these popular novels that we're getting. You don't want to soak yourself up with these kinds of things, beloved. They're happening. Get down to something that's real. Get down to something that's real. These are the sort of, you can't live on waffles and things like that. You've got to get down to meat. Something that's solid. Something that you've got to know. Not that we don't praise God that something gets delivered from black magic. Of course we do. But that's a sort of a bagatelle. It sort of should be ordinary, happening all the time. That sort of thing should be. Amen. I've got nothing against anybody that's written, but it's not bad. But this concern to get down to reality. How many of you have read, say, Charles Finney's lectures on revivals of religion? How many of you? One, two, three, four, five. You see it? Six. How many of you read From Witchcraft to Christ, or From Something to Praise? This sort of popular book. There you are, you see. There you are, you see. Speaks for itself. How many of you read the Bible through? Praise God. No prizes for it. It's your duty. You've done that which you ought to have done. Amen. Oh, beloved. Do mean it. Will you mean it? Listen. I stayed recently in a home in London. Now, I know after this, I mean, I've attacked all your favorite authors, and all your reading, but now I'm going to attack, I'm going to really attack, at least you might think it's an attack, on a long cherished belief you have. I said to the young man in that home, I said, stop reading the Bible. Stop reading it. He said, if you tell me so, I will. Yeah. Do you know why I told him? He'd set himself to read it four times this year, and he'd read it three times, on top of all his other duties. I said, now stop it. Stop it. He was tired. He sat up into the night. He did all sorts of things. I said, now stop it. He stopped it. But don't you ever hunger like that to get the word in, dear. Have you ever known the like? Glory be to God. Oh, it's tremendous. But, you see, beloved, we've got to get to this place where we're really getting down to it. That you and I have got to ask the Father in his name, and the Father will give it to us. That doesn't mean to say that you have a long list of prayers and say, in Jesus' name, Amen. That doesn't. That's not in his name. That means it's the kind of prayer that Jesus would pray about the thing or person that you're concerned with. That'll sort you out. You say, well, how am I going to know that? Oh, you'll have to be baptised and filled with the Spirit to know that. You see. You have to know that. Not that everybody that's filled with the Spirit does it. Or has had an experience of the baptism in the Spirit, does it. But they're qualifying. Hallelujah. They're qualifying. Amen. Oh, when God realigns the pattern of your living, and the pattern of your thinking, and changes everything, and brings us into direct prayer with God, eh? Blessed be the name of the Lord. He says, he says this, in verse 25, These things have I spoken unto you in Proverbs, or parables, but the time cometh when I shall no more speak unto you in Proverbs, but I will show you plainly of the Father. Now, we did that, he did that at Calvary. He showed them plainly of the Father. The lengths to which Father would go to deal with sin, and to have children. He showed us plainly of the Father. That's what he did. But it's this bit next I want to come to. At that day, when you see the Father plainly, now you've got to ask the Father in his name. You've got to see the Father plainly. Do you? I'm talking about heart vision now. This is the basis for our prayer life. At that day, when I have shown you plainly of the Father, glory be to the name of the Lord, when you see plainly your birth in God, the Holy Ghost, and when you see clearly that He is your Father, and the understanding of this marvellous new life you've got is clear to you, that's the whole basis of it. It isn't adopting a new method of prayer. It's on personal heart vision of God. It's on a true relationship with God that prayer comes. It doesn't come from reading a book about prayer, though that may help you, and sort of getting what we call the evangelical approach, or the Pentecostal approach, or anything like that, to the way you should pray, or the things you should pray about. It's you knowing your relationship with the Father. Amen. And the privileges that are yours as a son. Amen. That's what you've got to see. It isn't saying prayers. It's seeing Father. You see, it isn't saying words. It's having Jesus' name. This is what it lies in. When that really comes deeply into the experience, this is what he says, At that day you shall ask in my name, and I say not unto you that I will pray the Father for you. Listen to what he's saying. He's saying to them, at that day, he's really telling them he's not going to pray for them. My word. That's right, isn't it? It's almost surprising to read these words in the Bible. Hope you don't skip them over because they're unpalatable, or your mind can't grapple with it. I say not unto you that I will pray the Father for you. You say, well, all my hopes are based on the fact that he's praying for me. Well, you've got to read the Bible. For the Father himself loveth you. Oh, glorious. Hallelujah. He loves you. Because you've loved me. And have believed that I came out from God. Amen. That's the basis of it. He's as good as saying, when you really get here, you don't really need me to pray for you anymore. He told them he would pray for them a certain way. You've got to go back to the 14th chapter for this. In the 14th chapter, he says this in verse 15. If you love me, keep my commandments, and I will pray the Father. And he will give you another comforter. Amen. Oh, this is tremendous, isn't it? And that he may abide with you forever. Even the Spirit of truth. Oh, this is tremendous, isn't it? You see, he said, I will pray for you to receive the Holy Ghost. That's what I will pray for you. Oh, glory. Ah, that's tremendous. And you know, he says such great things. Look in the 16th chapter. And in the 16th chapter, he's still talking about the Holy Ghost. His heart's full of it. He says, I tell you the truth, verse 7. It's expedient for you that I go away. So we say, oh Jesus, don't go. We've only known you for three years. Don't go. We're only just beginning to get our eyes open. Don't go, Lord. Who's going to love us if you go? Who's going to lead us when you go? That's what they were saying. This kind of thing. You see. And he said, it's expedient for you that I go away. If I stay here, I'll block up the plan. It'll be bad for you if I stay here. Yeah, try it. Fancy that. Hallelujah. Oh, this is great. If I go not away, the Comforter won't come to you. But if I depart, I will send him to you. And when he's come, that is, come to you, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. Sin, because they believe not on me. Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and you see me no more. Of judgment, because the Prince of this world is judged. I have many things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now. Howbeit, listen now, when he, the Spirit of Truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth, for he shall not speak from himself, you've got of, it's authorized, but it's from. He shall not speak from himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak, and he will show you things to come. Now, there's the basis of your prayer life. There's the basis of your prayer life. I'm going to pray, if you want to be a praying people, I'm going to pray that you're going to receive the Holy Ghost. When you receive the Holy Ghost, what he hears, he'll tell you. Here's the guide for your prayer life, not sort of the accepted lists that people hand out. Here's the guide for your prayer life. Oh, the Holy Ghost telling you. That's for your own absolute certainty. You can't go wrong, you see. You're not on the grounds of certainty when you've got all these other things functioning. You see. You see. Your prime need, my brother and sister, is to receive the Holy Ghost. You cannot pray properly, even. You cannot enter into this realm of being a prince and having power with God, unless the Blessed Spirit's come to you. You don't know what to pray for. You don't know. Look here. You'll agree with me that the Apostle Paul knew what he was talking about. I don't know whether you're a better prayer than the Apostle Paul was. Let's go into Romans chapter 8. This is what it tells us here. He says this. We know in verse 22 that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together unto now. Well, let's get praying for it then. Come on. Groaning, travailing in pain. They're blowing one another to bits. They're cutting one another's heads off. They're fighting. They're squabbling over tapes in America. They're going through corruption in England in high places. Oh, everything. The nations are torn apart. What's going to happen? Where's the healing? Don't you care, you people? This then is pseudo fleshly sympathy. It doesn't understand. It sounds so good and pious and it's as wrong as wrong can be. Here it is. The whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. It would be a good thing if the church all got together, wouldn't it? And groaned and travailed together. If the whole creation's travailing together. Here it is. And not only they, but ourselves also, which had the firstfruits of the Spirit. Amen. What's that? What's the firstfruits of the Spirit? The nature of Jesus Christ in us now. When I've got that, I can pray in His name. Not until. I can't pray in Jesus' name properly until the Spirit has come to me and brought the firstfruits of my heavenly heritage into my life and I have the nature of Jesus Christ and then I can bear His name and use it. It's all simple. And on we go. It says this. We ourselves groan within ourselves waiting for the adoption to wit the redemption of our body for we're saved by hope. And so we go on. Verse 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities for we know not what we should pray for. We're too infirm to know what we should pray for. We don't know what we should pray for as we ought. Too many people think they do. The Holy Ghost has come to be the heavenly teacher and He hasn't put into our hands the traditions of the church. He's put into our hearts or you should have allowed Him to a whole new conceptual approach to the troubles and ills of the world. A whole new attitude to these things. Blessed be His name. This is His faithfulness. But you see the Spirit He comes we're told in this verse and He makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered and He that searcheth the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit because He maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. That's right. That's what He comes for. And that's why you can always know you're praying in the will of God and that's how you know your prayers will always be answered and that's how you know that the promises are yea and amen. Isn't it simple? God's plan is very simple. There's nothing in it really beloved but for us to throw away the preconceived ideas and start afresh. Hallelujah. And when we're brave enough to do that and break with the traditions of a lifetime in positions from a realm that we knew nothing about when we came into the world but we moved into a set that did this or a family that behaved like that we had no way of testing before we came into the world whether this thing was right or whether it wasn't. Amen. But once we're born again from above beloved the blessed Holy Ghost comes to give us a thorough I was going to say spring clean move into everything regenerate, revitalize, renew oh this is the great work of the Spirit of God to bring us into this real place that's what he's come for whatsoever he shall hear that shall he speak and if you'll listen you'll hear him and if you'll attend to what he says he'll keep speaking to you. Hallelujah. It's as simple as that. This then is the life of communion and then we can walk with the Lord and then we can see our prayers being answered what a marvellous and wonderful thing it is then. Let's go back to John and John is talking to us so very very plainly I like his plain speech he will show you things to come well when you're seeing things to come I mean you can pray about them can't you? I see this coming Hallelujah I can see this coming you talking about visions? No I'm not talking about visions I'm not talking about you becoming a visionary I'm only telling that you'll become a person with sight you'll see you can see Hallelujah Yeah that's the prayer life what a great world you're going to enter into it's an amazing thing I don't want to get all political and this isn't a party political broadcast but couldn't you see what was coming when the Labour government got in about the unions going to rule the country couldn't you foresee that? well this is a special well you see everybody is special they all feel that couldn't you see that politically? if not well well now now come right out of that realm get rid of it anyway come into the spiritual realm you can see things are coming that's right that's marvellous see you're coming into a new realm you're in a new relationship and you're not wasting your time running around chasing your tail Lord oh it's a thrill when you get into this it's a thrill when your prayers are answered so many times in a day and God does this and God does that and miracles become bread and butter to you so you never talk about it anymore they're just the natural things of life that's it you're in an entirely new realm Amen and you don't have to read books that boost your faith or anything like that you're there beloved you're moving that's it it's the life glory you must pray you must I didn't say you must say your prayers you see people that don't understand they sometimes think they're very funny you're going off to church they say say one for me you see they only think about saying prayers they've been brought up on books of them somebody at the front says something that's not prayer prayer is my life moving in God's life prayer is my spirit moving in God's spirit that's what prayer is prayer uses words but it can as well get on without them for it doesn't lie in the words but we are so constituted as human beings having powers of speech and don't we all know it that we talk the way our spirit goes if not we're humbugs and hypocrites hallelujah this is the wonder and the reality of it and God starts to move us he'll show you things that can listen let's read this 13th verse of John 16 the spirit of truth is come hallelujah and he's going to guide me into all truth how about that I'll have the truth of the matter all the truth of the matter how about that in principle it doesn't mean I'll have a head stocked up with all the knowledge that's ever been revealed unto man but you see truth isn't in that realm truth lies in spiritual reality that's where truth lies first and fundamentally and I can have all that truth glory be to God I get illuminated and led out into understandings as I go on with the spirit of God amen I can cope with more I can take on more my heart can be as it were just open to the Lord so the spirit of God can take it up and take up my whole self and engage it on this and then engage it on another and the great flowing river of God is moving through me that's what God wants oh hallelujah the thrill of it he'll guide you into all truth he'll not speak from himself whatsoever he shall hear that shall he speak and he will show you things to come it's marvellous if father says to Jesus it's about time that north down there God on the Holy Ghost will tell me what he hears he tells me he's in on the council chambers of heaven and if Jesus said to the father see that woman I won't point at you sister that woman she needs to get out of her silly ways I mean he loves you so the Holy Ghost hears that all the nonsense that's what it's all about that fellow wants to stop the way he's behaving that girl wants to dress properly alright the Holy Ghost will tell you if you listen to him you're alright shut your ears and you're out of usefulness all depends on obedience and you see it's so lovely so simple I think God's plan is marvellous you can't compliment God but we have to worship him it couldn't be bettered and here then it says verse 14 he shall glorify me for listen he shall receive of mine and show it to you what blessed be the name of the Lord he'll receive if Jesus is he'll show you if Jesus says now that situation's mine you show it to him and you pray you say I'm going to get out a list of the things I'm going to pray for he'll show it to you there that's mine that woman there's mine oh she may be steeped in the world and saturated in rottenness mine mine see this is the way it goes and it's lovely it's so simple it's so real and it works that's the main thing works if you've got a prayer life that don't work get rid of it get rid of it not that sometimes he doesn't delay as we pointed out if he delays it's in order to do a bigger miracle than you know and that's wonderful amen sometimes I've had to get hold of women and they're very concerned about their husbands here's my husband he doesn't seem to see he's dead I don't understand I pray for him and I generally say to her now look you take your hands off your husband best way to drive him away take your hands off him you see this is quite intensive womanly concern this broody thing like a hen over everything get off him get off him leave him to God that's right praise God they don't trust God they trust that they keep on nagging at their husband keep giving him hints as though he's blind in the back and can't see anything leave him alone leave her alone too that's right that's not prayer it's just this clawing human spirit makes you shudder it's unclean sucks into itself calls it prayer leave him alone that's right my mother used to say something like it's a worldly saying but not all the sayings of the world are wrong she didn't say it in a worldly sense but she used to talk about if I give him enough rope he'll hang himself that's right this is the way when God moves sounds as though you've had some of that treatment hallelujah that's the way praise God there are other times when God will bring you in to prevent something you don't know the way of the spirit we don't know what we should pray for as we ought we don't oh to be free and responsive to the spirit hallelujah oh to come off that coffin you call a prayer list amen free to the spirit it's alright you can trust it you're thinking about it I shall forget now you're in your mind you've got to get in the spirit dare you make the great transition dare you cross this great gulf amen you don't know say you don't know and be honest come and talk God's language it's because you think you know you say I'm hammering at the gates of course you're not hammering at the gates they're open hammering at the very gates of heaven of course you're not not a nonsense sentimentalism read the book of the reveler know the truth tie yourself up in cliches and things like that hallelujah be free and know what you're doing move in and there are times when just one word of prayer will do more than the 50,000 words you've poured out about it for the last 10 years and called it importunity now I'm not saying you haven't got to be importunate you have of course you've got to be importunate but importunity importunity is the spirit that makes opportunity when there is none importunity importunity is a spiritual thing not a thing of repetitious words remember that everything in this great gospel is in the spirit words are only necessary as they come along this line amen with the spirit amen and here then is the great secret and importunity is the spirit now listen that refuses to take no for an answer that's the spirit and I tell you why it refuses to take no for an answer because it knows it's right with God and all the promises are yes and amen it's all simple there's nothing complicated about this life you see but it's oh pray about this oh pray about this pray about this well you've heard that everything should be born in prayer sustained in prayer that's right but it's got to be prayer prayer prayer hallelujah woke up in the night last night ok as soon as I woke up pray for so and so I won't tell you what it was man phoned me up rang big big serious trouble could be national international see will you pray for this so I woke up in the night about three o'clock it must have been something like that straight on Lord so and so so and so we're not asleep again I'm going to ask you a question here's the question which is the greater the life of prayer or the prayer life which is the greater the prayer life the prayer life that's the life that prays that's right that's the greater the prayer life is greater than the life of prayer amen do you know Jesus' life is a prayer life isn't it he ever lived to make intercession for me hallelujah isn't that a marvelous thing marvelous and that's a spiritual thing and he's maintaining the relationship between my self and my father so that I can come in and say father you see I mean there are certain it's strange sometimes I move amongst people they say Jesus pray for me and they go through a whole list of names somebody pray for me somebody pray for me you see but that is not prayer it's not prayer prayer is a living vital glorious oneness with God that reaches out and takes what belongs to it asking and receiving and seeing God do the miracles oh I say I haven't finished I think I'd better stop do you pray nevertheless I want to say this this then is the prayer life for the children of God and those who would go on with God in this great way if you're a beginner and you hardly know where to begin start by crying out in your own hearts name start there the earliest word used in the scripture about prayer is the word a cry just a cry that's the basic thing when the whole inside of you what I mean by that that is the spiritual man you may not have thought of yourself like that just cries out cries out and God hears that God hears that that's not the prayer life of course that I've been talking about but that's the way it will start Lord Lord he'll come he'll move on you he'll move in you he'll do tremendous things and if the spirit makes groans which cannot be uttered in me he won't go to sleep when I go to sleep tonight he won't go to sleep hallelujah but you see the life develops as it moves with the spirit so sometimes he'll wake you up so you can consciously pray because your life will develop that way quicker than you do you know why he's anxious to develop your life because as your life develops you'll become a better prayer you move more greatly and completely in this realm amen until your life is one great prayer to God amen God is able to lay upon you the cares of the world the needs of men the things that must be answered and you won't be crushed you'll be able to go on and the joy of the Lord will be in you and the glory of the Lord beloved will just fill you more and more and more and more amen I think it's time I stopped
