Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the preacher talks about a man in a synagogue who had been living a religious but hopeless life. However, when he heard Jesus speak, something stirred in his heart and he cried out for Jesus. This man had an unclean spirit, representing the impurity in many people's lives today. Jesus came to give life abundantly and break the power of poverty. The preacher emphasizes the importance of crying out to Jesus and not missing the moment of God's glory. The sermon also discusses two types of people who will not miss the glory: those who recognize their need for a Savior and those who obey Jesus and become a testimony of His glory.
Sermon Transcription
It's truly a pleasure to be here. And I do thank God with all of my heart for all of the pastors and leaders who have made this available for us to be here this evening. I have a word for you this evening that's been burning in my heart. And it's about missing the glory of God. There are certain times and seasons when Jesus Christ decides to show His glory. Now His glory is shown when He does that which only God can do. It is possible, though, that we can miss this moment of glory. I want to talk to you about that this evening. Let's pray together. Lord Jesus Christ, we dedicate this evening to You. And we ask You, Lord, that You would glorify Your name. That You would do in our hearts what only You can do. And Lord, we thank You for it. In the precious name of Jesus. Amen. John chapter 9 tells us the story of Jesus passing by a blind man. And this man, the Bible tells us, was blind from the time he was born. He had never been able to see. Many people are like that. From the time they're born, they don't see a future. They don't see a way out of their struggles. They don't see any life, they don't see any hope. The disciples of Jesus had a question. They said, who sinned that this man was born this way? People always want to blame somebody else. For the condition that they find themselves in. Now Jesus answers and says, this is not about somebody having sinned. But I have allowed this man to be born this way that my work might be known in him. The Bible tells us that God's ways are not our ways. It is amazing the way God chooses to work. So Jesus said to this man, go to a pool. And the pool was called Scent. And he said, wash your eyes in this pool. You're going to be a testimony of my glory. The Lord says, I'm going to do something in you. And I'm going to send you. I'm going to do something in Haiti. And I'm going to send you. You will be a testimony. Of my glory. This man obeyed Jesus. And he washed in this pool of being a testimony. His eyes were opened. You would think everybody would be excited. But that was not the case. There will be some people who are not excited about what Jesus does in your life. And they were not excited because it didn't involve them. These religious people. They said to this man, give God the glory. And what they were saying is, give our religion the glory. And what they were saying is, give our religion the glory. Give our programs the glory. Give our human effort the glory. They said, give God the glory. They missed the moment of glory. They were offended that it did not come through their efforts. They were offended that it did not come through their efforts. I was preaching in another country a few years ago. Where the glory of God came down. Thousands of people came to Christ. An entire community was under the conviction of the Holy Spirit. An entire community was under the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Everybody in the street was screaming and crying. But they were religious people. And they missed the moment of God's glory. Because it didn't come through their program. It was a strange blindness. It was a strange blindness. There is no deeper darkness in a man's heart than a religious darkness. It is full of pride. And it isn't willing to just let Jesus be glorified. It wants the glory for itself. And when it can't get the glory. It rejects the work of God. That's possible to miss this moment of glory. This moment of glory does not come through human effort. This is a moment that's sovereign. It was born in the heart of God. He has reserved this nation for himself in the last moments of time. He has reserved this nation for himself in the last moments of time. What you are about to experience is not by might nor by power but by the Spirit of God. What you are about to experience is not by might nor by power but by the Spirit of God. Jesus will share the glory with no man. He will share it with no religion. No human effort. He's going to give you a spiritual vision. And the glory goes to him and to him alone. Give God praise. I want to tell you about another kind of person. Who will miss the glory of God. The Bible says that Jesus went to his own country and to his own people. In this place his name was known everywhere. Jesus grew up in this town. They knew him. His name was everywhere. As I travel the streets in this city I see the name of Jesus everywhere. I see even the name of Jesus on your discotheques. His name is on your buses. His name is everywhere. And he came to them. His name was everywhere. And one day he came to them. He began to teach them. The Bible says they were astonished. They said, how did this man get such wisdom? How does he do these kind of mighty works? It was an amazing moment. He had come to make his glory known. It was his hometown. And suddenly they began to give in to human reasoning. Their hearts were warmed for a minute. Faith rose up for a minute. But then they began to go back to reasoning. They said, is this not the carpenter? We know his mother. We know his brothers and sisters. And they were offended at him. They knew he was speaking with the power of God. They knew mighty works were done by his hands. But they were offended. It's an amazing thing. And so the Bible says he couldn't do any mighty works there. Except for putting his hands on a few sick people and healing them. That's my question to you tonight. Is that all you want from Jesus Christ? Is that enough for you in Haiti? To just have a few healings? A few testimonies of God's glory? A few good Bible sermons? A few good services in church? When God says, I've come to do a mighty work. I've come to do something more powerful than you've ever seen. I've come to open prison doors. To show you the treasure of heaven. To heal those that are wounded in heart. To set free the oppressed. I've come to do a mighty work in Haiti. The Bible says that he marveled because of their unbelief. Because of unbelief they missed a moment of glory. You can miss God's glory because of unbelief. You can miss God's glory because of unbelief. We're talking about God tonight. We're talking about God who created the universe. He created it by the word of his mouth. He created the heavens. And he created the boundaries of the earth. He created you and I out of the dust of the earth. And he came to this earth. And he died on a cross. And broke the power of hell. Broke the power of oppression. He broke the power of poverty. And he said, I've come to give you life. And I've come to give it more abundantly. I've come to give you life in abundance. You and I should cry out tonight. Like the man who had a sick child. Say, oh Jesus I believe. Help my unbelief. Help me God to believe you. Don't let me miss the moment of your glory. I am not willing to miss God's glory. And his glory will be known in my life. That has to be the cry of your heart tonight. Now I want to talk to you about two types of people who will not miss the glory. Mark chapter one. He tells us that Jesus went into the synagogue. And he began to teach them. And people were surprised at what he had to say. And the Bible says he didn't teach them like the other leaders taught them. He taught them as if he was a man who had the power to do what he was saying. He wasn't giving the people theories about God. He was talking about the power of God. The people's hearts began to be stirred. And there was a man in that synagogue. And this man perhaps many years had survived in religion. Maybe he had gone through the temple week after week unnoticed. Unchallenged. His religion gave him no hope. There was nothing supernatural in it. But all of a sudden he heard a word. And something came into his heart. The Bible says he cried out. Jesus! Jesus! Something in him caused him to cry out. This is the kind of a person who will not miss the glory. The Bible says he had an unclean spirit upon him. There are many people in the church today who are not clean. They're not clean in their body. They're not clean in their mind. They're not clean in their practice. And they've become used to this in their religion. But when Jesus comes. When Jesus comes. When Jesus comes. Something begins to cry. In the honest manner woman of God. And he cried out. It was his moment of glory. You can have a moment of freedom tonight. You can be free. You can have life. You can have a future. You can walk away from torment. You don't have to live under the power of sin any longer. Jesus has come to Haiti. Jesus has come to Haiti. You've got to cry out. That's your part. That's what God says you have to do. Stop sitting in silence. Something in your heart. Has to say Jesus. I want to be free. I want to live for you. I want to glorify you. I'm sick of powerlessness. I'm tired of empty souls. I'm tired of words that don't touch my heart. Nobody will do this crying out for you. The preacher can't do it for you. The choir can't do it for you. You have to cry out. And when this man cried out. The scripture tells us. That he fell down. And it looked like the devil was going to win. It looked like the devil was going to triumph over his life. But the bible says after he cried with a loud voice. The power of the devil was broken in his life. And he was free. And everybody that knew him was amazed. The glory of God had come. Hallelujah to the name of God. Hallelujah. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Lord. I thank God tonight. That the victory that Jesus offers. It's not to the strong. It's to those who know they need a savior. It's to those who are weak. And they know they're weak. But they're not ashamed to cry out. They're not ashamed to move forward. They're not ashamed to say I need God. They're not ashamed to say I need Jesus. I want to talk to you about the last kind of a person who won't miss the glory. In John chapter 11. Jesus had a friend. And his friend died. It was a time of death. And many people were coming to his family. And they were comforting them. There has been a time of death in Haiti. There has been much pain in many people's hearts. And I'm very thankful. For people who have come from all over the world. To comfort in your sorrow. But I'm here to tell you tonight. Somebody has come that can do more than comfort you. Somebody has come who can do something far beyond anything you've ever seen. Now, the man who died had two sisters. One of the sisters, when she heard Jesus was coming, came to where he was. But the other sister stayed home in her house. And it says in the Bible that she sat still in her house. She was very disappointed in Jesus. She didn't want to get her hopes high again. She had loved him. She had sat at his feet. She had worshipped him. But he had still allowed death to come to her house. She couldn't find it in her heart to be excited about his coming anymore. We are here in a stadium in Port-au-Prince. And there are some people who have come tonight. Thank God for that. But there are also many listening on the radio that are sitting in your house. You really don't want to come to a public gathering. You don't know why you're even listening to my voice tonight. You don't want to abandon Jesus. But you're not excited about him anymore. You don't expect the supernatural to happen. There was a time in your mind it could have happened, but it didn't. So in your heart you see these words. I will listen. But I will not clap my hands. I will not stand to my feet. I will not shout with my voice. But I'm going to sit still in my house. I will not deny Jesus. But I'm not excited about him anymore. There are many people like that this evening. You know who you are. And you are listening to my voice on your radio. Please listen right to the end. Now Mary's sister Martha came. Like many of you have come tonight. But she had a deep grievance against God in her heart. She said, Lord, if you would have come, my brother wouldn't have died. In other words, why didn't you come when we needed you? We don't need you now. We needed you a month ago. Where were you? And she also said to him, He said to her, I'm the resurrection. Your brother will rise again. But in her heart she said to Jesus, You won't really do anything now. We don't want to be disappointed again. So I'll come to hear you. And I'll quote scripture. I'll sing songs. But I don't really believe you. I believe that one day, Somewhere, You'll do something. But you won't do it now. It's too late. The situation is too hard. Too much disappointment. Too hard for you, Jesus. So I'll quote scripture to you. But I don't believe you anymore. Jesus said to them, When he saw all of the people weeping, When he came to Haiti, And he saw so many staying home, And he saw so many filled with unbelief, The Bible says he was troubled. And he groaned in his spirit. And he said to the people, Show me where he is. Show me where your hopes died. Take me to the place where you lost heart. Lead me to what you think is impossible for me to do. Don't you know I'm the resurrection and the life? I am able to raise anything from the dead that has died. I can bring your hopes back to life. I can bring your nation back to life. I can bring your country back to life. Don't you know That I am the same God Who brought my people Israel out of their graves? They were dead. They were scattered. They were powerless. They were no more. But I spoke to their bones I called them out of the grave. I caused them to stand. I put my spirit upon them. And today they live. And they will soon be the blessing of the whole world. People of Haiti, The Lord says to you, Do you not believe I can do this? Do you not believe I can give you life? Do you not believe I can open your graves? Bring you out of your poverty? Destroy the enemy? Bring you out of confusion? Cause you to build in this nation? A testimony That the whole world Every nation Every country Will have to stand up And say look what God has done. Look what God has done. We could only offer comfort We could only weep with the people of Haiti And help them the little bit we could But Jesus raised them from the dead And gave my Haitian people life Oh give God glory Give him glory Give him glory tonight Give him glory from your heart Give him glory from your heart The Bible says that they took Jesus to the grave And then we come to the shortest verse in the Bible The Bible just says the verse says Jesus wept He cried For all of the people All through time Every nation Every individual Every country Who would miss the moment of his glory He cried because he knew what he could do And he was willing to do it And the only one who could stop it Was you and me We were the only ones who could stop the hand of God I do hope that you understand tonight That we have not come here because we want to do a series of messages We have come here because God told us this is the time for Haiti Hallelujah This is the moment of your resurrection This is the moment where God is going to give you sight Remember our opening scripture He said let's not talk about other people's sins This man was born so that the glory of God might be shown to him Jesus is going to show his glory through you Then he said something to one of Lazarus' sisters Take away the stone Take away him from the voice of God Take away every obstruction Take away the hardness of heart The sister of Lazarus said these words Oh Lord he has been dead too long There are some that say those words tonight Pastor you don't understand It's been too long this way We have been too long in poverty Too long in confusion Too long with crime and violence You don't understand This corruption is right through us She said you don't understand He has been dead for four days There is a decay in him And you and I know it can't change People stand Into the face of God And they say to God you don't understand But God looks at you tonight And says no you don't understand You don't understand who you are talking to You don't understand who is speaking to you I created the heavens and the earth I gave the first man life when he was nothing but dust There is nothing impossible to God Did I not tell you If you would believe You would see the glory of God This is your moment This is a moment for hating It may never come your way again Jesus is speaking to you Did I not tell you If you would believe You would see the glory of God The glory of God means that which God is That which God can do That which only God can do That which brings his own name to reputation Then Jesus prayed Oh Father I know you hear me But because of the people I have said these things That they may believe That you have sent me And after he prayed He cried with a loud voice Lazarus Come forth Lazarus Come forth Hating Come forth Hating Come forth The most interesting part of this whole story Is that nobody could hear him The religious people couldn't hear him Mary couldn't hear him Martha couldn't hear him Listen to me now The only one who could hear him Was a dead man The only one who could hear the voice of God Is the man who knew he had no strength No power No ability to change No future without God And he knew it in his heart But he could suddenly hear A voice like he had never heard And this voice was calling him To do one thing alone Move towards the sound of my voice He was all wrapped up in death He had no strength He had no degrees He sang in no choir He preached no gospel He had no testimony All he could say Is I once knew Jesus But now I'm dead And I know I'm dead But by the grace of God I hear him calling me Because this is the moment of God's glory And with the little bit of strength that he had He got up He got up He defied the grave He defied death He defied the devil He defied unbelief And he said in his heart I'm coming to Jesus I'm going to walk with Jesus I'm going to be a testimony for Jesus Haiti Get up Get up Get up Get up in your home Get up Get up Wherever you are Wherever he is Get up Get up Get up This is the moment This is your victory Jesus is calling you To glorify his name Get up in your weakness Get up in your bondage Get up in your nothingness But for the sake of God Get up Hallelujah Glory to God Glory to God Lazarus Come forth And when he moves Then Jesus gave another command A command that has to be obeyed Because there is no power of hell that can defy the voice of God He said loose him And let him go Loose him Loose him Satan Loose this nation Loose these people We command you In the name of Jesus Let these people go That they may serve God We defy your authority We stand against you We tear you down By the blood Of the Son of God Who triumphed over you You have no right to this nation anymore These people belong to Jesus Hallelujah The Bible tells us That Lazarus became such a powerful testimony That people came not just to see Jesus But also to see Lazarus Who had raised from the dead There is a day coming From all over the world People are going to come to Haiti Hallelujah Not just to see Jesus But to see Lazarus Who he raised from the dead Glory to God Glory to God Hallelujah Amen Your question now What do I do? Come forth You step out of all darkness You step out of all death Step away from bondage Step away from powerless religion And you come to the living God He will not disappoint you Hallelujah We are going to spend some moments in worship In quiet worship And as we do this I am asking you On behalf of your country On behalf of your children And most importantly For the glory of God Whether you know Jesus or whether you don't I am asking you to get out of your seat And come and meet me here And we are going to pray together And I believe Jesus is going to loose you All despair All darkness All hopelessness And all bondage It begins tonight And it begins with you If you can hear the voice of God The Bible says Don't harden your heart Don't miss the moment of God's glory Don't miss this moment of freedom Leave unbelief behind In spite of your disappointment Move forward towards the voice of God And we are going to see tonight The beginnings of a great revival In the nation of Haiti Praise God And come and meet us here This is not only a call for salvation It is a call for the salvation of a nation It is a call for resurrection And the voice of God that called Lazarus And said get up and come out Calls us all tonight And says get up and come closer While the worship team will sing I would like to invite each one of you To come closer if the Lord calls you There are moments when we have to hear the voice of God And respond to the voice of God This message has touched the hearts of many tonight I call on the pastors I call on the leaders I call on the Christians The voice of God calls on men and women Calls on the young Each family This will take a few minutes But I invite you to leave your seats And to come closer here and there Some will kneel when they arrive here And others will hold hands But we will come together Because the voice of God says Lazarus, come out And we have heard in our minds That the voice of God calls you all To come forward as intercessors To come and stand for your country I have never been so certain in my life To have heard the voice of God tonight And I know that you have heard the voice of God Who said come out The voice of God who commanded our enemy Let them go Haiti will be liberated Tonight while the adoration rises to the sky And we declare that it is Alpha and Omega The one who called Lazarus calls us And I call on every Christian in this place To come closer by holding hands And once you arrive here To begin to raise your voices and to cry out to God To cry out to God There is a cry that will rise from this stadium to the sky And the sky hears this cry This is why we are gathered This is why God gave this vision to Pastor Carter He gave him the vision, he gave him the word And now it is our time to answer the call While the adoration rises to the sky It is Alpha and Omega I want you to come closer And that we kneel before God Stand before God And raise our voices before the Lord It is Alpha and Omega I would like to ask you To take the hand of the person next to you Take the hand of someone next to you Take the hand of a brother or sister And raise our voices Take the hand of someone next to you In a gesture of unity We declare to the enemy of our souls Nothing will separate us We will rebuild Haiti We are united for the hour of Haiti While you hold someone by the hand Let's raise our hands together to the sky And we will declare together Because you are God above the earth You are God above Haiti And you establish your throne in heaven God of glory, you are king of Haiti Raise your thousands of voices together For a few moments Pray in French, pray in Creole Pray in spirit, pray with your heart Pray for your country, pray for your brother Pray for your sister, pray for your children Pray for the cities of Haiti Say the name of the cities I pray for Paris, I pray for Jacques Melle I pray for Cape Haïtien, I pray Lord in the name of Jesus I pray Lord for the Cayes, I pray for the Hogan In the name of Jesus
