(Daniel) Daniel's Second Vision
Willie Mullan

William “Willie” Mullan (1911 - 1980). Northern Irish Baptist evangelist and pastor born in Newtownards, County Down, the youngest of 17 children. Orphaned after his father’s death in the Battle of the Somme, he faced poverty, leaving home at 16 to live as a tramp, struggling with alcoholism and crime. Converted in 1937 after hearing Revelation 6:17 in a field, he transformed his life, sharing the gospel with fellow tramps. By 1940, he began preaching, becoming the Baptist Union’s evangelist and pastoring Great Victoria Street and Bloomfield Baptist churches in Belfast. In 1953, he joined Lurgan Baptist Church, leading a Tuesday Bible class averaging 750 attendees for 27 years, the largest in the UK. Mullan authored Tramp After God (1978), detailing his redemption, and preached globally in Canada, Syria, Greece, and the Faeroe Islands, with thousands converted. Married with no children mentioned, he recorded 1,500 sermons, preserved for posterity. His fiery, compassionate preaching influenced evangelicalism, though later controversies arose.

Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the speaker discusses the visions that Daniel had regarding the four great world empires. The speaker refers to the image in Daniel chapter 2, which represented these empires: Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. The speaker then mentions Daniel's vision of the lion, bear, leopard, and a fierce monster, which also symbolize these empires. The sermon emphasizes that God is revealing these visions to show the rise and fall of these gentile empires, and that they are not as glorious as man may perceive them to be.

And we're at chapter 8 this evening. The book of Daniel, and we're at chapter 8. And we're trying to go right through this whole chapter this evening because we cannot make any break in it anywhere, we've got to take it all with us if we're to get the truth that the Lord intended both Daniel and us to get. Before we get into the chapter, let's think about some of the chapters that have gone before. You remember chapter 2 and the great image that you could never saw. You remember the metals that the image was made up of, the head of fine gold, the arms and breasts of silver, the belly and thighs of brass, the legs and feet of iron. And as we looked at the image that evening, and Daniel got the truth of this, we knew that these metals referred to four great world gentile empires. The head of gold was Babylon, arms and breasts of silver represented Mediterranean. The belly and thighs of brass spoke of that great kingdom of Greece under Alexander the Great. And the last one was, of course, the Roman Empire. And we had a vision of these four great gentile world empires. Now last Tuesday in the class, Daniel had a vision all of his own this time, and he saw four great beasts. The first was the lion, the second one was the bear, the third one was the leopard, and the fourth one was an almost indescribable monster of some kind that was fierce and had great iron teeth. And again, as we saw from this interpretation, that again God was letting us see these four great gentile world empires. And tonight we are going to get another vision that Daniel had. It's the vision of the he-goat that came against the ram. And as we get into it again, we are going to find that Mediterranean and Greece were brought before us once more. And we are going to have to view once more this evening, these gentile world empires that were given to us in these prophetic pages of Daniel. And you know, you wonder why it came like gold and silver and brass and iron, and you wonder why it came like lion and bear and leopard. You wonder why it should be a ram, and you wonder why the he-goat is used, and of course God is not playing with us. You see, I think that God was letting us see in chapter two, the nations of these great world empires are man-seasoned. Man thinks that there is something golden about his empire. Well man may see its value in silver, or even brass or iron. And we are looking at this great pattern that God is spreading out, we are looking at it the way man sees it. Man puts a treasure on things. But it's not always true, you know. Of course when we come to chapter seven and see the same world empires, the four of them, we are seeing them as God sees them. God just sees them as beasts. Nothing wonderful about them as far as God is concerned. They are just starving for everything. They are devouring, they are tearing apart. God sees them as beasts. And then when we come this evening, we are going to see these world empires as the Jews see them. Because this is Daniel's vision. And I can tell you that after Daniel gets his vision this evening, look at the last verse of our chapter, verse 27. And I, Daniel, fainted and was sick certain days. And mind you he wasn't a fellow who was easily made to faint. You know he went into the lion's den without any trouble whatsoever. But he's getting a vision of things. And he can see the end days of his nation. And he can see exactly what's going to happen. And he's looking at this great vision through Jewish eyes. Of course God puts these visions before us that we might be fit all together correctly. That it might have a bearing on our behaviour. And that's what we're trying to work out in these meetings. Not bothering too much about the historical tide. We must get that if we're to get anything. Not even bothering too much about the prophetical. Although it's very important. And we must come to the spiritual that we might be practical. So we're starting off again on another vision this evening. We're at Daniel chapter 8. And it begins in verse 1. In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel after that which appeared unto me at the first. You see chapter 7 last week began in the first year of Belshazzar the king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon a bed. Now it's good to remember that at chapter 7 that was the first vision Daniel had. Remember the great image was seen by Nebuchadnezzar. Remember Daniel on his knees got the interpretation of the thing. But he himself hadn't seen the vision. His own vision came in chapter 7 last week. And this is Daniel's second vision. This too tells us and I saw in the vision and it came to pass when I saw I was at Shushan in the palace. Shushan was the principal city of the province of Elam. And if you know the map this province lay in those days on the other side of out of the Chaldees it ran down and touched the Persian gulf and on the eastern side of that little land ran this river Uliah. So that's where Daniel was in spirit at any rate. Taken over to the principal city of Elam crossed by the river Uliah and he was at least in the vicinity of the king's palace. You notice that this is the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar. Chapter 7 was the first year of King Belshazzar. Yet chapter 5 of Daniel is the place where Belshazzar was slain. So you want to watch a chapter for the ways you might get mixed up you know. It doesn't run in chronological order. God is not trying to work that out at all. God is giving us a vision and is piecing it together for us. And so we must be careful. Remember that Daniel chapter 5 is where Belshazzar had the feast and the writing came on the wall and that night was Belshazzar the king of the Babylonians slain. And then last week it was his first year of reign that Daniel had this vision. Now it is the third year and he's away at Shushan in Elam by the river Uliah. Now we want to get down to the vision don't we? Now I've called the first part of it the revelation of the ram. Verse 3 Then I lifted up mine eyes and saw and behold there stood before the river a ram which had two horns. Wanted to get that into your minds. Nothing extraordinary about that at the moment. It's just a ram and it has two horns. In a moment we're going to see a he-goat. And one of the reasons that I'm persuaded that this is being looked at through Jewish eyes is that they knew all about sheep and goats. When I was travelling through Palestine some days Mr. Torrance and I were sitting over there some days we saw a shepherd leading a flock of sheep and it was quite a sight. Maybe the next day we met one he was leading a flock of goats and they know all about goats. So it's Jewish alright. But we don't need to worry too much about that. Wanted to see this and he said and the two the words it used for high would almost make it appear from the Hebrew that they were sort of antlers. But that doesn't matter to us either. And it says and the two horns were high but one was higher than the other and the higher came up last. Now that's unusual that the ram would have one horn higher than another and it's certainly most unusual that one would come up after the other. Of course in a moment or two we're going to see quite plainly without any trouble whatsoever for you that this ram is representing the great empire of Medo-Persia and of course the Medes were sort of stronger than the Persians and they came up first. And there's no problems there and there's nothing there so exciting that we need to wait with. It's just that he could see the ram. And we know because we've read the chapter that it is Medo-Persia. And then I want you to notice this. Not only the height of his horns but I want you to notice the power of his pushing. Verse four I saw the ram pushing westward northward southward Now if you're quick where did he come from? Well if he's pushing west and he's pushing north and he's pushing south he must have come from the east. You'd have no bother deducting that, sure you would. None at all. So that's where Medo-Persia really came from. They came from the east. You know that the Persians are out there, don't you? If you didn't know anything about geography you would know that. And I saw the ram pushing westward and northward and southward so that no beast might stand before him neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand but he did according to his will and became great. So there's the whole vision about the ram. Daniel is somewhere at Shushan quite near to the river Uliah in the province of Elam and God has given him this vision of this ram with these mighty horns and he can see that one is higher than the other he sees that one came at last he knows that this ram came from the east and it shored down all before it it became a world power. Isn't there anything wonderful about that? Now verse 5 and I've called this the galloping of the goat and as I was considering he was just thinking about what he had seen Behold an he-goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth and touched not the ground I don't know if you were ever chased by a he-goat or not but I was once and I assured you that I wouldn't like it to be chasing me now because when I was about 16 and wandering about the country I went into a particular field one evening and before long I came face to face with a he-goat and it didn't like me at all and it really came bounding after me in those days I could run and I was only up on the gate with the leg over when it hit the gate what a rattle it did and I think this is the sort of thing that Daniel saw he saw this he-goat and it really bound you galloping and he can see it covering watch this phrase now we mustn't miss the phrases and the he-goat came from the west this time great old book you had you know you only took time to read it it's going to meet head on with the one that came from the east isn't it it came from the west now watch this on the face get it now of the hoar it touched not the ground and the goat had a notable horn between that's something very unusual this talks about one horn a horn out in the front between his eyes now that's something for us to think about and I know that Daniel thought a lot about this horn but I'm just going slow with the reading so that I'll hold your attention and try to get your nose on the book to get these things before you verse 6 I should carry the notes with me in verse 5 there you can see his greatness the greatness of this goat he covered the whole earth and you can see the glory of this goat the glory of this goat and the goat was his notable horn and you'll find that there's real glory there when we get it all teased up now I want you to notice this and he came to the ram that had two horns which I'd seen standing before the river and ran onto him in the fury of his power and I saw him come close onto the ram and he was moved with colour against him and smote the ram and break his two horns and there was no power in the ram to stand before him but he cast him down to the ground and stamped upon him and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand and we're just getting little glimpses of his glory in not only chapter 6, verse 6, but verse 7 and then he goes on with this vision verse 8 he says therefore he therefore the he goat waxed very great and when he was strong the great horn was broken I want you to sort of mark that, you know this is his grief I'd call this do you see the galloping of the goat you can see its greatness, its glory now you're looking at his grief this great horn was broken and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven north, south, east and west four horns coming up you're getting this into your mind you didn't see the ram you know about his horn you can see the he goat can't you and his hair moving you can see the notable horn there's the head down just when he's at the peak of his power his horn is broken and four horns coming up north, south, east and west they come up makes them quite a nod looking character doesn't it and then it says this and out of one of them that is out of one of the four came forth a little horn now maybe you don't know this but I want you to know this this evening that that's one of the most important verses in your bible and I'll show you how important it is in a moment or two you saw the ram you saw the horn you saw it being broken you saw the four coming up now out of one of the four out of one of the four came forth a little horn and I want you to watch it now which wets the exceeding great toward the south toward the east and toward the present land and it wets great even to the host of heaven and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground and it stomped upon them this little horn was quite a horn wasn't it and then it says of this little horn yea he magnified himself because he is talking about a person you know almost under this figure yea he magnified himself even to the prince of the host and by him the dearly sacrifice was taken away and the place of his sanctuary was cast down and a host was given him against the dearly sacrifice by reason of transgression and it cast down the truth to the ground and it practiced and prospered quite a lot of details about this ram and this notable horn and this notable horn being broken and these four coming up and this one coming up and then it goes on to talk about this one verse 13 then I heard one saint speaking and another saint said unto that certain saint which speak how long shall be the vision concerning the dearly sacrifice because this particular saint was all worried about the dearly sacrifice being taken away how long shall be the vision concerning the dearly sacrifice and the transgression of desolation because the taking away of the dearly sacrifice out of the sanctuary completely was the beginning of the desolation that spoken of by Daniel the prophet it's the beginning of the abomination of desolation but don't let's get too much on the plate before we start picking through it just take your time and he said unto me the saint seemed to answer Daniel unto two thousand and three hundred days two thousand three hundred I want you to get that figure in your mind then after that shall the sanctuary be cleansed but don't let's bother about the number of days just for the moment I assure you we won't leave them there we'll come back to them but for teaching purposes we must take it just bit by bit now we'll read verse 15 and it came to pass when I even I Daniel had seen the vision and sought for the meaning then behold there stood before me of the appearance of a man and I heard the man's voice between the banks of Uliah which called and said Gabriel make this man to understand the vision and you know who Gabriel is don't you this is the angel it comes more than once in this book to tell people things sometimes when I get into the depths of a chapter like this and there's some things I want to know and I take down the commentaries that I have and I assure you I have about twenty of them very often the thing that I don't know they seem to not know either the thing that I know quite well on my own they write about three pages on that and the whole bunch of the commentaries as far as I can see they're not worth to dig my what a lot of writing we have about something you can perfectly understand and the thing that I want to know they don't touch so I have to do what Daniel did I have to get down on my knees and seek for the meaning and it's not Gabriel that's sent now you know I know the Holy Ghost who's here and the Lord promised when he the spirit of truth is come he will guide you into all truth I have to wait on my knees at times it helps me to know how stupid I am just have to wait for God to talk and if you wait you never wait in vain it's no vain thing to wait on the Lord no God comes and tells you and so on this occasion it was Gabriel's case verse 17 so he came near where I stood and when he came I was afraid and he fell upon my face and he said unto me understand oh son of man for at the time of the end that's a pretty good phrase isn't it the time of the end yes that's a very good phrase and I want you to just take your time and look at it for a moment the time of the end cause this vision that was given that has so many historical details it happens to stretch on out to the time of the end it's just like the wonderful image that we have and we saw the head and the breast and arms and the belly and thighs and then we saw the legs and then we saw the feet and the last expression of that image were ten toes Mr Heath is doing his best to get the ten toes properly formed and it was just the same last week when we were at this last monster this poor world empire the last expression of it the last expression were ten horns my he had seen everything about it and then last of all ten horns and out of the ten came one ah yes God wanted us to gather something out of this wonder are we living at the time of the end but let's listen on and we might get more truth he says so he came near where I stood and when he came I was afraid and fell upon my face and he said unto me understand oh my son of man for at the time of the end shall be the vision now as he was speaking with me I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground but he touched me he set me upright and he said behold I will make thee know what shall be the last end the time of the end the last end of the indignation for at the time appointed the end shall be and the whole thing you know that God wants to get over because of the end bitch it's the time of the end it's the last end it's the time appointed the end shall be and then he begins talking quite friendly the ram which thou sawst having two horns are the kings of Meda and Persia there isn't any trouble about that is there no arguments at all quite plain he just comes out into the open says that's what that was see the ram you saw see the horns you saw well that's that great empire of Meda Persia mind you Belshazzar is still alive here in this chapter and Meda Persia hasn't taken over from Babylon yet but God is telling Daniel that Meda Persia are going to take over and this is a very wonderful thing he says verse 20 the ram which thou sawst having two horns are the kings of Meda and Persia and the rough goat is the king of Greece here and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king now that's a very thrilling verse you know there are historians in this meeting and I've got to be careful you see a way back in Daniel's day God allowed the Babylonians, the Chaldeans to become the first great Gentile world empire he's set this thrill aside but not forever set them aside they deserve that and he's allowing the times of the Gentiles to begin and they began of course he's not going to let the Babylonians rule forever and he's showing Daniel that in a few days the Medes and Persians will come and overthrow Belshazzar and they'll take the kingdom and they did it that's what the writing on the wall was all about God hath numbered thy kingdom Belshazzar and divided it now it's a very thrilling thing for me to know that Meda Persia is ruling this world of the Gentiles under God when your Old Testament proves it if you go through the Old Testament Daniel, Ezekiel, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggag, Zechariah, Malachi if you go right from Daniel now right on down to the last letter in Malachi when your Old Testament closes it is Meda Persia who is ruling if it was Cyrus the Persian that let Nehemiah go back to build now in between the last letter of the Old Testament and the first letter of the New Testament there are 400 years make no mistake about that you young people 400, some of us teachers say 400 silent years in there now it's in the middle of that 400 years that Alexander the Great overthrew the Meda Persians and made Greece the first great Gentile world empire coming from near of the west it was Greece and to think that way back in Daniel God had said that this he ghost with this multiple hole that's Alexander the Great so he said that God didn't know the end from the beginning of course the modernists you know they say that this must have been written after Alexander of course they would, they couldn't believe anything it's a pity of them they couldn't believe that God could foretell but I shall prove that it was written long before that you know this is very plain isn't it there's no bother about this verse 21 the rough goat is the king of Greece here and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king now that's been broken isn't that a very wonderful thing you know it said back there when we were looking at the vision verse 8 therefore the he goat waxed very great and certainly Alexander the Great waxed great alright and then he was strong just at the peak of his power he died oh the historians here know everything about his death he died in Babylon at the age of 33 33 years of age that's how old he was he sat down and wept once because there were no more worlds to conquer he defeated the world but God knew that he'd be broken God knows when you'll die too if you must die your days are numbered you know yes may God teach us to number our days too isn't it well written just when he was at the peak of his power this was written a long time before he appeared you know and God writes it out very wonderfully now it says in verse 22 now that being broken where are four stood up for it four kingdoms so stand up out of the nation is that true you see that's very true because history would tell you that when Alexander the Great died at the age of 33 he had a young son but he was very young but his four generals took the kingdom in fact it's believed that had he lived much longer they would have taken his life he would have been assassinated but he died and the four generals took the kingdom you know it's very interesting that one of them took Egypt over right down in the south and one of them took all the far east and it was called in those days Scythe and he took the eastern part it was one of them took Macedonia that's quite over in Greece Greece and Macedonia were all around and the other one took the north which was Syria so they divided the kingdom into four towards the four winds of heaven one on the south was Egypt one on the east was Greece one on the west was Macedonia one on the north was Syria all the things working out the way God said it would work out the big horn is broken four come up towards the four winds of heaven and that's exactly what did take place now with this verse 23 and that's very important and in the latter time of their kingdom you see there are little fragments even today of these great kingdoms well we do hear about Greece yet and we're coming to what God wants us to come to in the latter time of their kingdom when the transgressors are come to the full mind you God's watching this world tonight and there's no doubt at all that evil men are watching worse and worse and there's no doubt at all that this old world of ours is reeling tonight with transgressors and transgressors they're holding eight or nine men hostages in a little room where they're having the games tonight these Arab terrorists walked in today shot a couple of men pushed the rest of them into a room if they're pushed very far or anybody makes a foolish move these sportsmen will be shot this evening most surely will and I would say without any hesitation that Diane has no notion of letting the prisoners out not for a moment not for a moment and he might push the terrorists a wee bit further but we have terrorism in our own country and we have fools all around us north and south and you can see this thing you know it's so diabolical that's the thing I want to say or whether he's a Roman Catholic and you take him up into a room and you nail him out on the floor and this has been done on both sides nail a fellow out and then burn him with this and that and the other and then cut his tongue off and cut his ears off but that's not the devil in I don't know anything and we give up now God! and I'll tell you things will start happening you know we're getting terribly near to leaving this world for good terribly near far nearer than what I can impress on you far nearer now let's get this bit correct just don't let me run away with this just for a moment and in the latter time of their kingdom when the transgressors are come to the fool a king of fierce countenance and understanding dark sentences so stand up now this king of fierce countenance this is this little horn coming up among these four out of one of them and you remember that because that's a very important verse because I'm sure that I'll be able to show you in a moment or two that this is the man of sin this is the one that will sit in the temple that Israel is thinking of building and he'll profess to be God and the whole world will have to fall down and worship him or they'll know the reason why he'll be a king of fierce countenance the man of sin would speak to us of his sinfulness the son of perdition would speak to us of his corruptness he's called in another part of the Bible that wicked one which would show us his wickedness and this book is trying to show us his fierceness just now have you got this? do you remember this ego? do you remember this horn? do you remember it being broken? do you remember four coming up? north, south, east and west and out of one of them out of which one? that's the tickly bit isn't it? have a look at it again now way back to verse 9 and out of one of them came forth a little horn which wept great towards the south so it didn't come from the south it didn't come from Egypt that's one thing sure towards the east didn't come from Greece towards the pleasant land he didn't come from the west mid-west either you know this one came from the north came from Syria you know I'm perfectly sure tonight that the Antichrist will be a Syrian Jew he'll have to be a Jew before the Jews accept him he will certainly not be an Orthodox Jew he'll be a Syrian Jew you know it might surprise you tonight that Syria is behind what happened today in Munich it is the Syrians who are organizing most of the terrorism in this world at this moment are they going to produce a sort of super terrorist? I saw a face flashed on the TV the other night I have to look at the news to get a lot of details sometimes and it was a Syrian it just came on he had his name I couldn't get time to get it properly but it said this is going to be the wise man of Syria I don't know who he is but I know I know we are away at the end time I know that the ten dozer horns I know that the ten horns are seen I know that if they get this great amalgamation this European economic community that he raves about I know that they're going to have a common parliament at Brussels and I know they're going to get a president before long and I'll be very much, if I'm still here I'll be very much surprised if he's not a Syrian and if he is for God's sake get down on your knees we're going away one of these days half of us is only believing just saying yes for small, that's right yes, the modernists and some of the amillennialists they try to argue away from this one of them said to me once see this fellow with the fierce countenance see this fellow that's going to take away the morning and evening sacrifices out of the century see this fellow that's going to bring in the abomination of desolation well he was anti-Akoth epiphany away back there in history cause he did terrible things and destroyed the temple of God I said son two hundred years after anti-Akoth died Jesus Christ said when thou seest the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet he didn't believe it was past he believed it was future cause I follow him when John wrote the book of the Revelation he wrote it somewhere about I.A.D. 96 or 93 and I'm not sure and it doesn't matter but it was 60 years after the death and burial and resurrection of Christ and the man of sin is still future for him ah this trite from boys who can't read annoys me Christ oh this abomination of desolation is coming I read to you from a little slip of paper that I had that's a I haven't yet the New York Times that's a great paper the New York the New York Times recently carried a full page out for the purpose of collecting funds for the rebuilding of Solomon's Temple they are sponsored by Orthodox Jews it is also reported that the Hebrew University in Jerusalem is offering courses on the preparation of the temple they're determined to build the temple they're collecting money and they mean business when they collect money they're going to build the temple and in the temple they're going to offer sacrifices and there's going to be the morning and the evening sacrifices and the church is leaving this world one of these days and this man of sin this son of perdition this wicked one this king of fierce countenance who will most surely have some reference to failure he'll be revealed and he'll make a covenant with Israel and then he'll break it and he'll stop the morning and the evening sacrifices you see up the chapter a bit I left out because that was very important one saint said on to another in verse 13 how long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice and the transgression of desolation and he said unto me on to 2300 days let's get the figure in our minds 2300 days now the seventh day Adventist who put out more error than anybody else that I know well some of you might be on the fly sending for the correspondence course and you're so stupid you don't know what you're paying for well I'll tell you a wee thing about them now seventh day Adventist they said that these days here 2300 days they say these days are years days of years 2300 years and one of their great leaders wrote a book about from the building of the going forth of the commandment to build the temple in the year 457 he added 2300 to it and it brought them to the year 1844 BCE and they have written a great book and they can't get rid of it now that the Lord would most surely come in 1844 and they have tried a thousand ways to wipe that out but they're not allowed because it was error of the deepest kind because these are not days that fear at all had they had somebody among them that could have read the book these are not days oh I know the word is used there but it's used in Hebrew in many ways look at it again and you say don't they aren't the 2300 days is there a little figure at the word there haven't you got a marginal bible what does it say in the margin what's the Hebrew word in the margin it means morning and evening 2300 sacrifices morning and evening sacrifices ah that's different isn't it because it's not days and it's not years it happens to be morning and evening sacrifices now if he stopped the sacrifices morning and evening until 2300 of them would be stopped how many days is that if you divide it by two you get the days don't you one, one five oh 1160 you remember last week let's have another look at that now the time is going tonight but you may have to eat your peace yet we're at Revelation chapter 11 verse 1 and there was given me a reed like unto a rod and the angel stood saying rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and them that worship therein but the court which is without the temple leave out and measure it not for it is given unto the Gentiles and the holy city shall they tread on the foot forty and two months and I will give power unto my two witnesses and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and sixty days one thousand two hundred and sixty days one thousand and two hundred and sixty days for Robert Anderson said that the prophetic year in this book is 360 360 multiplied by three and a half is one thousand two hundred and sixty and when you get one thousand one hundred and fifty you're almost at that three and a half because he's making a covenant with them for seven years and he'll go along very nicely within the midst of the week he's going to break it and it's only three months or just a few days over three months later that he's going to stop the sacrifices oh yes and from then until Jesus comes let's have a look at this fellow again you know it says he's a king of fierce commandments in Daniel 8 and 23 and understanding dark sentences when there is a seeking the devil's help and things you know it was said that Hitler shut himself up in the room and prayed to the devil for help and somehow I think the devil gave him help and I think the devil's helping a whole lot of other folks I don't know whether they're praying for it or not but I know that this man that's coming the devil will give him his power I know that verse 24 says and his power shall be mighty but not by his own power I would think not the old devil will be enemy and he shall destroy wonderfully and shall prosper and protect us and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people I think he'll burn a lot more of the Jews and through his policy also he shall cause class to prosper you see I haven't any doubts at all that if we go into the common market I think that there will come great prosperity and not as daft as to just argue I don't like it but then I can't close my eyes I think the engineering world in Britain will make a fortune and I think the farmers who can grow grass and grow beef in the north of Ireland will make a fortune they'll always be looking for beef but I think that money's not everything and it's not and it's very often been true in this world when a boy begins to get a lot of money he gets away from God and money has been the curse of all men money's not everything when we have more prosperity and more money we'll have more sin yes it's what we're heading for it's watch him again through his policy also he shall cause class to prosper he shall magnify himself in his heart and by peace and the word in the margin is by prosperity shall destroy many and you can preach on that any Sunday morning you like because that's one of the devil's nets for men he shall also stand up against the Prince capital P of princes and that is our Lord how well he's a mighty character you know there will be a sinfulness and a corruptness and a wickedness and a diabolicalness that's never been seen in the world before but when he begins to meet the Lord Jesus he finds he has taken on too much for Christ will destroy him without hand it says here my dear friends what a chapter it is it says here shall stand against the Prince of princes but he shall be broken without hand and the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true you know Daniel was looking at this through Jewish eyes no wonder he fainted terrible times coming for the Jewish nation I know they're in the land tonight but I know that God is going to put them into the melting pot friends let's take a moment this evening would you say with me tonight that this is a great book would you say as we read through it and remember these are just Bible readings and I'm only reading and putting in an odd word here and there and trying to keep out of it as much as I can would you say it's amazing all to see that great image with the gold and silver and brass and iron all to see those beasts to see that ram and the he-goat to see the horns to see the little horn friends tell me this are the ten toes appearing are the ten horns appearing are we at the time of the end and we're going to get nothing out of this meeting not just have knowledge that we want let me talk to you young ones just sit tight for a minute now is your mother at home looking at the television is she watching the Olympics tell me this is she nearer hell now than she ever was before tell me this now what are you doing about it you just being a nice girl carrying your bible bless you for that coming to church thank you you're letting her go to hell what are you doing about your pals young fella what are you doing about your sons and daughters fathers and mothers what are these knights to tell you we're leaving you know we're leaving they can keep Ulster and everything you'll find in here they can keep it too we're leaving we're going out as sure as you're on the seat we're going out but we're going to leave a lot of folk behind you know do we ever invite them to the meeting do we ever get down on us to God on our knees at our bedside and pray for them half of you are backsliders you never wait before God for anything you just enjoy this you just lick it up but there's nothing being done oh my God well might we say may we never be the same again may we stop tonight before you move from the seat may we stop tonight real earnest for God only a few days to go in my opinion would you like to discern that you're best for God may God awaken us let's bow together just take a moment now don't take a moment say a wee prayer to God where you're sitting if you've been sort of fast asleep in the bottom of your boots the Lord is saying to you what meanest thou, oh sleeper Paul is saying it's time to arise the day is fast tempered oh God look down kindly on us we have wasted time we have not been at our best for thee Lord we have been sidetracked and taken up with so many things oh God there are souls around us going to perish for all eternity and thou art coming soon awaken us we pray make us to give our lives to thee and our money to thee and every ounce of strength we have and every drop of blood oh God come and bless us tonight with a touch of quickening power for thy name's sake Amen
