W.F. Kumuyi

William Folorunso Kumuyi (1941–present). Born on June 6, 1941, in Erin-Ijesa, Osun State, Nigeria, to an Anglican family, W.F. Kumuyi grew up in a strict Christian home, regularly reading the Bible and attending church. His early faith waned in secondary school due to a principal’s atheistic teachings, but he rekindled his spiritual journey in 1963, becoming born-again on April 5, 1964, at age 23, influenced by a Gospel church group. A brilliant scholar, he graduated with a first-class honours degree in mathematics from the University of Ibadan in 1967, later earning a postgraduate certificate in education from the University of Lagos. While lecturing in mathematics at Lagos in 1973, he started a Bible study group with 15 students, laying the foundation for the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, which became Deeper Life Bible Church in 1982 after his 1975 expulsion from the Apostolic Faith Church for preaching Holy Spirit baptism. Known for his expository sermons emphasizing holiness, Kumuyi grew the church to over a million members across 60 countries, with its Lagos headquarters seating 30,000. He authored books like Daily Manna and Kumuyi: Defender of the Faith, and launched Global Crusade with Kumuyi in 2021. Married to Abiodun Olowu from 1980 until her death in 2009, he has two sons, Jeremiah and John, and wed Esther Blaize in 2010. Kumuyi said, “Holiness is not a destination; it is a daily walk with God.”

And some people are excited. I've never had anything like this before. Praise the Lord. I'm going to pray, and I'm going to move on. I'm going to consecrate myself to the Lord. This holiness, sanctification, this new heart, the Lord is going to give me. And while they're preparing to pray, and they're consecrating their lives, I don't want to move on. You come to them like one of those ten spies. I said, what's the matter with you? Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Why are you mourning? Why are you crying? Why are you weeping? Are you the greatest sinner in the church? I said, what's the matter with you? And then you begin to talk to them, to discourage them. And then the zeal they have, the enthusiasm they have, the passion they have, the commitment they have, the consecration they have, and the vision that they have to move on into heaven. Everything is crunched to a coil, and there's nothing again. And I said, Lord, I didn't know that it was impossible. If they are not able, if you hinder them from getting to heaven, how can you get to heaven? Will it be right for God to take you to heaven while you yourself have discouraged other people and discouraged other people from getting to heaven? I said, no, it will not be right. Your unbelief was passed on to them, and God has judged them for their unbelief. He must also judge you for your unbelief. But look here at 2 Kings chapter 7, the great cost and the great consequence of unbelief. But look here at 2 Kings chapter 7. I'm reading from verse 1. Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord. The Lord says to the Lord, Tomorrow about this time shall he measure a fine flower bestowed for Shekel and two measures of barley for Shekel in the gate of Samaria. It was too good to be true. The famine had been there for many, many years now. And now the man of God came. The famine was so serious that, can you believe this? Some people were killing their children and boiling their children for food. Children of Israel. The people that were so delicate that they shouldn't even touch the dead body. They destroyed their children and boiled those children to eat. It was that serious. And it was impossible for everything to just turn around like that in a day. And here the word of the Lord came to the man of God, Elisha. And he said, God says to the Lord, Tomorrow. How will that be? People will plunge. It will take some months for the seed to grow. And for us to be able to eat the crop. If you say next year. Maybe I can understand that. If you say very soon in the upcoming season. This will happen. I can understand that. But tomorrow about this time shall he measure a fine flower bestowed for Shekel. It will be affordable. Everybody will be able to afford this. And two measures of barley for Shekel in the gate of Samaria. Not outside. In our gate. Here in our territory. And therein was two. And the Lord on whose hand the king kneeled. Answered the man of God. And said, Behold. If the Lord should make the windows in heaven. Might this thing be? Do you understand what the man was saying? He was repeating the word of God. The promise of God. The covenant of God. Elijah. Man of God. You remind me of Moses. When all those people were passing through the land. The wilderness. And then God opened the windows of heaven. And my Lord came down. Giving it the Lord. The God of heaven. To do the same thing. And then open the windows of heaven. And get us back to those good old days. How can that be? Unbelievable. The great cost. And the great consequence. Of unbelief. You know some people who think they are so bold. To contradict the man of God. And the people that think they are so reasonable and intelligent. To be able to contradict the man of God. And the people that have high position in the land. This man. He was the man that the king lived on. And because of that position that he had. You know sometimes your position can ruin you. Can destroy you. You know the ordinary people. They do not have any mouth to talk. The ordinary people. They do not have any chance. To be able to stand in front of this man. On whom the king lived. Even if the Lord would open the windows of heaven. Might this thing be? And he said. Behold thou shalt see it with thine eyes. As to whether God is able to be it or not. Tomorrow you will see. But thou shalt not eat thereof. I will eat of the blessing of the Lord. You know sometimes you have to close your mouth. So that something good will enter that mouth. Sometimes your heart will just keep shut. And close that mouth. I am not allowing you to. I am not allowing yourself to say. That words of unbelief. If the Lord will do this. How can he give a new heart. A new heart to everybody. How can he give a heart of flesh. How can God so humble people. Such people. Make them holy. Make them righteous. And make them white. And brighter than snow. How can the Lord do it? I have heard that before. Holiness. I have heard that before. Sanctification. I have heard that before. Cleansing. I have heard that before. The purging. The purifying. That God will so purify you. And sanctify you. And make you holy. There will be no atom of sin. Out of sin in your life. I have heard that before. I am hearing that again. How can that be? Why don't you keep quiet. And say Lord I believe. Help thou my unbelief. Don't voice out your unbelief. And don't you voice over people. If there is a war and it starts. I can't believe you. Don't say it to the hearing of another person. Because it can be the destruction of your very life. And you can be lost eternally. In verse 16. Verse 16 of chapter 7. And the people went out and spread the tapes of the Syrian. So it makes your heart. Your soul very shaken. And to mention somebody very shaken. According to the words of the Lord. God will do what he said he will do. I said he will do what he said he will do. That's why those of us who are preaching. Keep on preaching. Those of us who are telling the people of the promise of God. Keep on proclaiming the promise of God. Those of us who are mentioning. And emphasizing his holiness and sanctification. Whatever you see. Whatever you hear. Whatever you feel. Keep on declaring it. It will happen. And then because they said of the pure in heart. Because only they. Shall see the Lord. And if you keep on preaching. That they will come. The Lord will do what he said he will do. And the king appointed the Lord. On whose hand. He will have the charge. Of the gate. And the people trod upon him in the gate. And he died. As the man of God had said. Whose spirit. When the king came. When the king came down. Unto him. And at least then. He was the person that God is doing. With his own mouth. He died. He killed himself. By the wrong use of his own mouth. When you hear the promise of God. When you hear the word of God. Accept it. Appropriate it. And enough assurance within you. That what God said he will do. He will do. And the benefit of the blessing will be upon your life. In Luke chapter 1. Luke chapter 1. I'm reading from verse 13. Luke chapter 1 verse 13. The great consequence of not believing. The great consequence.
