======================================================================== HOW CAN BELIEVERS DEEPEN THEIR INTIMACY WITH THE LORD? by Pat Emerick ======================================================================== Summary: This sermon emphasizes the importance of spiritual disciplines such as prayer, fasting, giving, silence, and others that have been passed down by the ancient fathers of the church. By practicing these disciplines, we make room for the grace of the Holy Spirit to transform us, hear His voice, and empower us to impact others positively. The speaker highlights the significance of consistent prayer throughout the day and the need to actively engage with the Holy Spirit to be instruments of change. By practicing these disciplines, we make room for the grace of the Holy Spirit to transform us, hear His voice, and empower us to impact others positively. The speaker highlights the significance of consistent prayer throughout the day and the need to actively engage with the Holy Spirit to be instruments of change. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTENT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The ancient fathers of the church handed down what we now call spiritual disciplines to cultivate those spiritual disciplines of prayer, of fasting, of giving, of silence, and many others. Causing those practices in our lives gives room for the grace of the Holy Spirit to change us, to hear His voice, to be changed by Him, to be used to change other people and encourage and build them up. So the practice of the spiritual disciplines of prayer and fasting, giving, serving, silence, I think there are half a dozen more that I can't think of at the moment, but these things have been handed down from the beginning of the church. Hours of prayer, morning prayer, evening prayer, every three hours stop and pray. I mean, these are things that we can do. We can participate with the Holy Spirit. We can't just sit on our chairs and wait for, okay, God, change me. We need to be putting ourselves in a place where He can use us. In motion, He can use us. ======================================================================== Video: https://sermonindex2.b-cdn.net/6tzmk3eb3z8.mp4 Source: https://sermonindex.net/speakers/pat-emerick/how-can-believers-deepen-their-intimacy-with-the-lord/ ========================================================================
