I just want to let them know as well as ourselves about things that are coming up. It's only two weeks until we have a Zoom online convention and not us as a church but a group of leaders from Britain, I've been meeting with them for about two months talking about what God is saying to the church in this hour, this crisis that our world is passing through and so some of these men have organized a convention called Navigating the Pandemic Fog or How to Maneuver Through That. That's going to be held on the 6th of March from 9 30 in the morning to 1 pm. That may well exclude most Americans but maybe if you're in some other country of Europe or in Britain you can join with us. If you go to our website you can get all the details for that convention there. There's going to be three speakers, I'll be the first one speaking on the Great Reset and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. There'll be a second speaker called Graeme Bridger who has worked in economics in England down through the years and he's going to speak on the economy and how this will affect the financial system. Then third of all we have a speaker called Dr Henry Reitzig and he is a medical doctor, worked in Afghanistan and many other nations on a missionary basis and he is going to be speaking on the whole medical side of this as well as the vaccination. Very important issue so if this is a burden of yours and you desire to join us please go in through our website and you can join us there. We've got other things coming up, we've got a School of Christ convention in Germany. I should have been going just in a few weeks time flying to Germany and holding five-day convention where I'd preach basically from the morning through to the evening eight times in a day for five days. I won't be able to get on a plane, neither will they be allowed in Berlin to gather together so what we're going to do is go online and have our first School of Christ Zoom convention or school. So again if you're in Germany or if you're out across Europe and have a desire and a burden for that please get in touch with us and of course we're planning our three-week Bible school here in Limerick for July time. So I just wanted to let everyone else out there, many of you have become wonderful friends joining us in other nations and we appreciate you, we pray for you and we know that even these messages have been a great blessing and a lifeline to you during this crisis and we pray that continues. So please turn with me here this morning as we go to our message to Matthew chapter 12. Matthew chapter 12 and really to be quite honest this morning and maybe the next few Sundays is going to be the overflow of other messages and other series. In other words these messages beginning with this morning is what I couldn't contain in the previous messages. In other words I had too much to preach, I couldn't deal with it all, I'm walking away from messages going I can't convey it all in one message. So I hope you'll excuse me if these are only a few crumbs from the table, these are a few leftovers and yet I believe they're vital, they're significant. So I've taken all of these leftovers from our messages on Revelation chapter 12 and the book of Daniel, especially Daniel chapter 10 and I'm just bringing these together in a few messages which I'm calling spiritual warfare. I hope you realize we're in a spiritual warfare here this morning. Reading from Matthew 12 and my message this morning is binding and loosing, binding and loosing from Matthew chapter 12. Reading from verse 22 through to verse 29 and it says then was brought unto him that is Christ one possessed with a devil blind and dumb and he healed him and so much that the blind and the dumb both spake and saw and all the people were amazed and said is not this the son of David and all the people. Verse 24 but when the Pharisees heard it they said this fellow does not cast out devils but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils and Jesus knew their thoughts and he said unto them every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand and if Satan cast out Satan he is divided against himself so shall then his kingdom stand and if I by Beelzebub cast out devils by whom do your children cast them out therefore they shall be your judges but if I cast out devils by the spirit of God then is the kingdom of God come unto you or else how can and listen this carefully this verse we're going to be dealing with it or else how can one enter into a strong man's house and spoil his goods except he first bind the strong man and then he will spoil his goods can we pray together as we come to this message this morning you know that lady that came to Jesus she said do you know even the dogs eat the crumbs off the table even in crumbs there's nourishment and I pray it will be here this morning father will you reveal will you speak to us these things that Christ has taught us I pray oh God that you teach us you instruct us that you deliver us and protect us from false teaching from deception we know that we're in a war we know that we're in a spiritual war we know that we're embarking on an unusual evil day in which is going to be a ferocious spiritual war in the church and outside the church in society in politics in every area of life and so I pray through these messages these simple thoughts that you will prepare an army that you'll prepare people who are going to stand in the darkness of night nor God make this church to be clothed with light the armor of God the person of the Lord Jesus Christ and my God I pray make clear here this morning what it means to bind and to lose I pray dissolve every false teaching and Lord God establish us in the true teaching of the written scriptures we love you and we ask that Christ be revealed this morning in Jesus mighty name amen my message binding and loosing and as always I'm not going to preach this or teach this like maybe many others do but this is my first message in this spiritual warfare series it may be short or it may be long I don't know any better than you know but we'll trust the all of that but here in Matthew chapter 12 we're beginning to look at binding and loosing we're going to find here in this message this morning that binding and loosing is found in three different chapters in the book of Matthew in two of those occasions only loosing is mentioned but in three of them binding is mentioned now these two phrases binding and loosing are used together in the new testament in these occasions and both times that they are placed together they are used by Christ and they're both in this gospel of Matthew we're going to find them in Matthew chapter 16 and Matthew 18 where binding and loosing is placed together here in Matthew 12 we find that it's only binding that is there there is no loosing but I believe in these three portions of scripture if we look at them if we open them up if we seek to find out what Christ says here you are going to find the true biblical doctrinal teaching about what binding and loosing actually means the word bind or deal in greek means to place in bonds or to tie up and leave as a prisoner the word to loose loo means to break up destroy dissolve unloose melt or to put up what was once restraining you now concerning binding and loosing there are two different extremes on this the bible teaches about binding and loosing but there are two extremes one extreme only sees demons in connection with us they bind and they lose everything they they track they'll bind thoughts they'll bind people they'll bind words they'll bind atmospheres there's other and the same group they also lose peace they'll lose money they'll lose spiritual blessing or a house this is what they think binding and looseness they're dominated by that that is an extreme but there's also a another extreme that reacts against them and becomes proud saying they're the deceived ones we know better than that we haven't fallen into a trap of demonology but we have a sound doctrine of binding and loosen i'm going to show you this morning that both groups are actually an extreme but there is a biblical balance teaching that involve both sides of the argument and we're going to look at it here this morning since we are in a spiritual warfare if you don't understand that if you think you're on a picnic if you think you're on a holiday you're going to get wounded in these days i promise you even in the normal function of the church if you don't realize there's a real devil a real fight a real enemy if you don't live like that if you live as if it's a peace time or that you're in the middle of the millennium you are going to get hurt i believe there's a lot of wrong teaching can in the church given by preachers and youtube bible teachers and i believe a lot of their teaching concerning demons the spiritual world and spiritual warfare is wrong it's in the church but it's not of scripture and not from christ let me just prove it in one scripture before we go to matthew 12 here in the book of revelation in chapter 2 and verse 24 we read about the church at syatira and we read about in that church there was a woman called jezebel she is called a prophetess she actually had a teaching ministry within that church and yet she led the members of that church into immoral sexual sin there was a a real casualness over holiness and yet she was a bible teacher and she was a prophetess and she had an entire teaching doctrine very complex very detailed she could teach for hours i am sure she was in the church at syatira but listen to what it says christ speaking our church i want you to listen very carefully to verse 24 concerning the doctrine of jezebel listen quote no um known that they have known the depths of satan as they speak so notice here the followers of jezebel in the church at syatira who have been taught prophesied to and accepted the ministry of jezebel they always said we have known the depths of satan in other words inside this spiritual movement in a church in the first century a literal real church raised up by god there was a spiritual movement and one just one of their teachings they said you know what we know the depths of satan what does that mean it means the deep things of satan the profound things are the hidden things are mysteries of satan in other words through our bible teaching through our prophetic ministry we can see into the unseen realm into satan's kingdom and in fact because of our great spirituality and the secret knowledge we have and the gifts of the spirit we have we actually see things that the rest of you cannot see we have special hidden prophetically revealed knowledge about satan himself and of his actions and of his deeds which never came from the bible it was mystical gnostic special revelation but it wasn't knowledge from the bible can i give you a warning here before we go to this message the church is filled with people who are binding principalities demonic powers over cities i do not believe in that they uh they they believe in name calling they call the devil devil names they mock him they scorn him that's very dangerous they cast out demons into hell they have no authority to do that they talk about breaking soul ties between you and other people they talk about breaking generational curses of your father and going back to your grandparents they talk about all manners of teaching of spiritual warfare strategies about anointing door handles in your house about spiritually clearing out your house about ley lines self-deliverance about putting demons vomiting demons up into bags now i know in this church you're you're probably laughing at me because you've been protected from these things you go surely no one could believe all these things yes they do and it's widespread across the church and yet you can't find it in scripture i believe it's been through special revelations dreams prophecies feelings that these people think they have special knowledge of satan's kingdom and yet like jazabelle's disciples do you know what they're boasting they're proud that they know the depths the hidden thing of satan and yet it's a doctrine of devils it's from the devil himself they think they have special revelation no they're being influenced by the devil here this morning as we begin to look at the true teaching of binding and loosen we we're going to break up some false teachings and we're going to establish some true teachings i've got three points here from matthew chapter 12 matthew 16 and matthew 18 and i want you to turn there with me first of all and there's my first point binding demons and loosing the possessed do you hear what i'm saying binding demons and loosen the possessed so brother keith you don't believe in binding demons oh i do oh i do so you don't believe in loosen those who are possessed oh i do because i believe the bible you see if you don't believe what i'm about to say then you've reacted to false teaching and you're not going back to scripture you're laughing at the false teachers it's easy to mock what is false but do you believe in the real biblical teaching of binding and loosen and my first point binding demons but loosen the possessed in matthew 12 29 where we just read here it says how can one enter into a strong man's house and spoil his goods except he first bind the strong man and then he will spoil his house again over in mark chapter 327 it says no man can enter into a strong man's house and spoil his goods except he first bind the strong man and then he will spoil his house what is the context of this verse about the strong man binding the strong man and about the house what is the context the context is found in the verses before it just look back a few verses to matthew 12 verse 22 listen this is christ preaching here then was brought onto him that is christ one possessed with a devil blind and dumb notice this possessed person they had a demon living in them do i believe in demon possession yes yes it's real this demon possessed person was blind their physical blindness was because of a demon inside them not because of any physical they were also dumb they couldn't speak do you know why because a demon was literally inside them you say brother keith do you believe this yes i'm a christian of course i believe it it's in the bible jesus taught it if you don't believe this then you're no christian i want to assure you the bible teaches very clear that there is such a thing called demon possession and if a demon indwells a man or a woman it can afflict them physically terribly all sickness is not of the devil all dumbness is not of the devil all blindness is not of the devil but there could be a strong man any person that caused blindness and and and dumbness and it says and he healed them notice he healed a demon possessed person in other words casting out demons is a part of healing it's a part of healing ministry healing this is all a part of being sent forth to preach healing and he healed him in so much that the blind and dumb both speak and saw look at this individual that came to jesus this is the context of the strong man we begin to understand who the strong man is if a demon can make a man blind and dumb that's a strong man that's a real strong man but as soon as the demon is cast out the person can suddenly speak they're not dumb anymore i mean instantly they can speak their tongue is released and you know what their eyes are open and they can begin to see it wasn't a medical complaint it wasn't physical it was demonic it was from the devil look at verse 24 but when the pharisees heard him or heard it they said this fellow does not cast out devils notice when he healed this person he cast out devils but the pharisees accuse him and say he did it by bells above the prince of the devils and jesus begins to teach them then in verse 28 but if i cast out devils by the spirit of god then is the kingdom of god come unto you now i want you to see very closely the context here in verse 29 the strong man that means someone who is mighty powerful or uses force against you what is this strong man it is a demon spirit it is a devil when this strong man is in the house it means that a demon is in a person what is the house it's the man it's a individual person the house is a man the strong man is a demon and look when the demon is in the house there is an effect he binds he has power saint i'm telling you about what demon possession is now look what christ teaches this is the biblical teaching of jesus he says now if you want to take that house if you want possession of that house if you want to move into that house if you want to own that house something has to happen first not as you go along you don't get jesus saying i'm going to possess the house live with it for a time live in it and then i'll chuck the demon out nowhere does he say that look what he says first you've got to bind the strong man before you move into the house before anyone else moves into the house before jesus moves into the house you've got to bind the strong man you've got to get the strong man out of there you've got to cast them out of there first bind the strong man this word bind the strong man now what's it talking about it's talking about binding the demon in a person the word bind means to place in bonds or to tie up in other words to make them a prisoner a captive the one that's possessing that man making him a prisoner you come along and you bind the demon you tie the demon up now listen here is one demon possessing one person the demon is indwelling or inhabiting the person and jesus christ said first he had to bind the demon which actually meant the act of casting out the demon in verse 28 so casting out is binding the demon binding a demon does not mean i bind you satan that isn't binding a demon that isn't taught anywhere in the bible it is not taught in the new testament you can be there saying i bind you devil you haven't bound him according to the teaching of jesus you know when you're dealing with the real demon in a person if you bind the devil you cast the devil out of that person i mean they are free one minute they can't speak the next minute they can one minute they're blind the next minute they can see now this could be like the demonic with 6 000 demons in him a legion he cut himself he is he was a madman he was crazy he was dangerous they would tie him up he would break it he lived in a grave that is demon possession people who get and mind battles and they're tormented or tempted they think and maybe i'm possessed maybe they have darkness and shroud them i want to tell you that is not demon possession you know nothing of demon possession do you have control over your life then you're not demon possessed is it just that you have mind battles you're not demon possessed demon possession is when a demon is the strong man he inhabits he indwells he takes control now binding a demon doesn't mean i bind you or speak in words or rebuke in the devil binding is the you as a christian i as a preacher jesus as the christ cast the demon out and the person goes free that is binding the demon to cast out a demon means to expel it eject it or to drive it out and we do that in the name of jesus in matthew 16 it says all those believe these signs will follow them not only will they heal a sick they will cast out demons do you realize it's a part of our commission if this is foreign to you if all you've ever done is mock those who talk about binding and loosen and yet you don't even know this why not you need to be very careful that you don't mock those that abuse this teaching and yet you don't even walk in the real teaching you know nothing about this in fact if a demon possessed person walked into the church you would just sit there helpless scared not even knowing that you've got authority to cast the demon out i want to tell you this is real saints i'm talking about uh literally binding demons and loosen the possessed you see there's some bible teachers say that when they come to this they concentrate on matthew 16 matthew 18 and they say it's got nothing to do with casting out demons actually they're wrong actually they're wrong and again in matthew 12 the same chapter down to verse 43 and 44 again christ speaks about uh this about an individual being indwelt by a demon and he uses the example of a house again and in fact he says let me just read it when the unclean spirit is gone out of a man he walks through dry places seeking rest and finding none and he said i will return into my house he's talking about a person and he's still saying that's my house i have rights i live there and it says from whence i came out and when he has come notice what he found the house has been empty the demon has been cast out of this person but when the demon comes back and he'll always come back to look to a person if you get saved out of a cultism out of the devil's kingdom and you go free i want to show you you better make sure christ is living in you it's not enough to walk free of the devil's kingdom we need someone living within us if you're just free but empty you're in serious trouble i want to tell you what does jesus say when the demon goes back to this man he finds them empty in other words jesus isn't living there christ isn't there no demon could get in if jesus was living there utterly impossible the only reason the devil can come back is because it's empty there's no jesus there when jesus is in me i don't need to fear the devil coming back i don't need to fear the devil coming back are the things from my past life are all the curses are all of that darkness if i have jesus in me no devil can intrude into the house again so he finds it empty he finds it swept another words clean i mean it's cleaned out you know you could have someone who has an experience with god and they get set free from heroin but they don't live for jesus they're free and they go hey everything is swept out i'm clean look at the house i'm clean now i've got a job again i can have a relationship with my wife properly again the house is clean but there's no christ there and it says ungarnished the word garnish means to set in order or to be decorated do you realize that that demon can gain entrance again because the house is empty and he takes seven demons worse than him and the end of that man is far worse i'm talking we're dealing with very real i do believe in binding demons but it means to cast them out of individuals and to see those individuals come into the church and be real testimonies for christ not going through years of ministry years of counseling years a week have authority to cast out the devil where satan is binding someone do i believe in loosing in relation to demonology yes in luke chapter 13 11 don't look there but listen in luke 13 we read about a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for 18 years she was sick in her body for 18 years do you know why she was sick for 18 long years it was because she had a spirit of infirmity in other words this demon spirit had latched onto her and had made her sick for 18 years she couldn't get well you know why it was a spirit of infirmity a spirit of sickness and it's we're told that she was bowed together in other words doubled over she was bent so that she couldn't stand straight she couldn't lift herself up and when jesus saw her he called her to him and said hunter woman thou art loosed from thine infirmity do i believe in loosen binding and loosen yes jesus set this woman loose he didn't have to say i lose shoe or i lose this or i lose peace or i lose uh lose or release uh money no he loosed this woman and he actually says whom satan had bound these 18 years she was loose on the sabbath day do i believe in binding and loosen yes i do and since as a church we are commissioned to bind demons to cast them out and to loose those oppressed of the devil this is a part of our ministry so don't mock this type of thing this is what i believe because it's in matthew 20 uh in matthew 12 jesus taught it but let's go a bit further that isn't the complete story in fact most christians don't concentrate on matthew 12 they concentrate on matthew 16 and they teach binding and loosen of demons from matthew 16 but they're totally wrong totally utterly wrong my second point turn to matthew 16 binding and loosing through doctrine what's doctrine it's teaching sound preaching expounding the written scriptures so my second point binding and loosen through doctrine it has nothing primarily to do with demons nothing to do with saying i bind you satan in fact one of the most major teachings on binding and loosen in the bible doesn't mention demons at all it isn't related and praying against the devil at all or speaking to the devil follow me matthew 16 verse 19 and jesus speaking to peter under the apostles i will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatsoever not whosoever whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven there's a lot of teaching in this chapter i'm not going into it we know the teaching of peter and the rock peter is the greek word petros rock is the word petra the greek word peter or petros means a little stone that you build in the wall of a house a building that's what peter was peter you're petros you're a brick in the wall you're part of the building you're part of the house of god but the other word he uses for the rock is petra that's the big large foundation stone that you build a house on so jesus wasn't saying peter i'm building my house on you he's not saying that he's actually saying peter it's upon the revelation that i am the christ that i'm gonna build my church and he says peter you are petros just one stone in the building that's all you are peter you're not the rock it's the revelation of who i am now that's what i'm not i'm not dealing with that matthew 16 but i'm just saying that in person jesus said to peter i give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven what is this key it's symbolic it's not a physical key it's symbolic it represents something what do you do with the key you unlock doors you open doors that are locked or you lock doors that are open in other words that key has the power to open or close to stop you going in there or to invite you to come in there that's what a key does it opens up a door and gives you access onto it now these are keys to the kingdom of heaven what do they unlock the door to the kingdom of heaven in other words this key could shut the door to you or open the door to you and jesus gives the key to peter and he says because you have the key when i give you the key this key what does it do when you have this key you can bind and you can loose with this key you bind on earth what should be bound in heaven and whatsoever you loose on the earth should be heaven now what is this key let me explain it here in luke 11 32 jesus speaking of the lawyers you know jesus spoke very strongly to the religious he was very gracious to sinners to prostitutes to drunkards he always had time he let a sexually immoral woman wash his feet he loved her but the religious who talked about holiness but were hypocrites he spoke to very strongly luke 11 woe unto you in other words i warn you lawyers for ye have taken away the key of knowledge who were these lawyers they were religious teachers they're scribes they're leaders in the jewish religious system they're called lawyers because they're expert on the law of god they studied it all day long they knew every little letter every comma they had a answer for everything they understood every sentence they could teach every single truth and listen to what jesus says to them woe unto you lawyers for you've taken away the key of knowledge in other words that key could open up the word of god there was a key to unlock the bible and to give knowledge to the people but what did jesus say you have taken away the key you're not using it to bless others ye entered not in yourselves and then that would enter in you hindered and then he says in luke 11 46 woe unto you lawyers for you laid men are put burdens upon men that are grievous to be caught carried or to be born and ye yourself touch not the burdens with one of your fingers so look at these lawyers they're teaching puts heavy burdens on people laws commandments obligations things that were never taught in the bible they are saying you can't do this and you have to do this it's not in the bible and they lay burdens on people and they don't even try to lift these burdens or listen again in matthew 23 13 woe unto you scribes and pharisees hypocrites for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men do you see what i've just said there i've said jesus is rebuking all of the jewish religious leaders who had the old testament and he says you know what you've done you've shut the door to the kingdom of heaven against men by your teaching and your hypocrisy and the things you add to the word of god do you know what you've done you've shut the door to thousands to millions of people you've actually shut the door concerning the knowledge of the kingdom of heaven for you neither go in neither do you allow others to go they made men twice as much of of people going to hell now listen look what it says in this first 19 very important here look what it says don't misunderstand this whatsoever you shall bind on the earth should be bound in heaven whatsoever you loose on the earth will be loosed in heaven now a lot of people think if i bind something here then heaven is going to bind it if i lose something here heaven is going to loose that in other words i can decree things speak things into being i can bind the devil and he's got to be bound in heaven it's got nothing to do with that now i know it sounds like that when you read it but listen let me give you a exact greek translation of this verse and listen carefully you won't understand what i say here but i'm going to explain it the tense of the greek in this verse is the perfect tense and then it's in the passive voice participle that means nothing to you here does it i can assure you but let me explain it it's important you understand this in other words this verse is in the past tense and it means it's completely finished in the greek this is not something that you do now it's something already complete it's in the past it is finished it's over let me give you an easy way to understand it which would be a correct translation of the greek listen whatever you shall bind on earth shall have already been bound in heaven that's the greek whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall already be loosed in heaven i'm talking about binding and loosing listen this verse actually teaches binding and loosen originates in heaven not on earth it doesn't begin with you on earth it begins with heaven you can only bind what is already bound in heaven you can only loose what is already loosed in heaven if it is not bound in heaven you can bind it no matter how much you shout if it's not loosed in heaven you cannot loose it so unless the binding on earth is in perfect agreement with heaven already it carries no authority has no power and accomplishes nothing those who wrongly bind and loose on earth who think that heaven must fall into step with their words their thoughts their commands are greatly mistaken that's utterly impossible i assure you you're not that important you're you you are not that important what what we have just said is perfectly aligned with all the teaching of the bible everything originates in heaven with god not with man on the earth we in the church you as a christian you need to get into step with god so what does binding and loosen mean here the term binding and loosen seems strange to your ears and mine it even seems strange in the new testament and us as the church reading the new testament we see a few statements twice talking about binding and loosen and we don't understand what it means we try to work it out but the jews in the first century did not have that problem they understood in fact it was a common term every jew in jerusalem knew what binding and loosen meant it is a legal phraseology in other words the scribes the lawyers and the pharisees of jesus time used it all of the time every single day it was on their lips at least several times a day so what does it mean let me give you an accurate understanding of it this legal term of binding and loosen where you were used all throughout the jewish teaching right down to the days of christ in fact for 500 years they took all the teachings of the jews for 500 years and they put it in a book called the mishnah the mishnah now in that book in the days of jesus this book the mishnah had 500 years of teaching of what the jews thought about individual scriptures and in those writings this term binding and loosen is used thousands of times all through so what does binding and loosen mean here is the accurate meaning for matthew 16 of what binding and loosen means it meant to forbid or permit something on the basis of the written word of god on the basis of what the bible teaches and what heaven has said i can bind something if it is bound in this book i can lose something if it is loosed in this book and you know what whatever heaven is bound whatever heaven is loosed we then can bind and loose on the earth but you need the key you actually need the key to do this this binding and loosen the jews in the first century did not think of binding and loosen about people spirits demons or angels it's got nothing to do with that it was an issue of doctrine and practice that were involved with this in other words it was the religious teachers who could bind and loose do you know when they found things they forbid it they said that is unlawful they taught the people and said that is not allowed on the basis of scripture the bible says that is binding when i stand in the church and i say you shouldn't be committing fornication you shouldn't be getting drunk i am binding that is the context of matthew chapter 16 this is the key that unlocks the door it either shuts the door in your face you know what getting drunk is locked to you i as a preacher have just locked the door i am binding the teaching of alcohol i'm saying the doors shut while you're in this church drunkenness is not acceptable i can assure you that is binding you know what on the basis of what heaven has already said the bible already says all i'm doing is teaching and enforcing the bible says you should not lie i'm binding this is the biblical teaching of binding nothing to do with demons i'm actually informing you what the bible says so what is loosened it is showing you what is lawful what is allowed what is taught by scripture commanded by scripture and allowed by heaven this is the doctrine of lucerne and we see this with the apostles with peter and the other apostles peter i'm giving you the key to the kingdom of heaven you can let people in or you can shut them out you can say if you repent to your sin you can come in here if you won't repent from your sin if you won't leave your homosexual relationship if you so love your drugs you're not going to bring drugs in here you're not going to bring your homosexual partner in here do you know what the apostles taught very clearly they opened the door of the gospel to many they didn't keep it to themselves they say come and believe come and receive believe in the lord jesus christ and all of your sins will be forgiven they are binding and loosened but they say no idolater is going to inherit the kingdom of god no no no immoral man no extortioner no liar you don't get in this since that's why in this church in limerick as we teach what as we've taught for seven years we have been binding and loosened by the teaching the preaching of the word of god and i assure you it's kept a lot of things out of here and it's actually opened up a lot i've tried to open up the book of god and bring the grace of god and the mercy of god and the kindness of god and the unity of the brethren freedom from your past freedom from your sin i have been loosened through the teaching of the word but i've also been buying them no drugs are going to be in here no no no disputer over doctrines is going to sit around our tables and carry on without a stealing with them i hope you understand the early church they fed on the apostles doctrine authority was given to the apostles that through preaching and teaching to open the door close the door to bind to loose to allow to deny that was the authority that was apostolic doctrine and that's what the early church got raised on third and finally let me finish here my third point and turn with me to matthew chapter 18 before we close here matthew chapter 18 my third and final point binding and loosen through church discipline binding and loosing through church discipline i want to show you not many churches believe in this type of binding and loosen they might talk an awful lot of binding and loosen but they know nothing about the binding and loosen of matthew 16 or matthew 18 but you know what saints i want it all i want what the bible says i want to cast out teaching that is not here but i want to receive teaching that is here my third and last point binding and loosing through church discipline in other words there is a type of binding and loosing that only comes through church discipline without church discipline without correct discipline in the church dealing with issues we don't have bind and loosen and i want this type of binding and loosen in our church matthew chapter 18 verse 18 listen carefully and this is jesus again teaching verily i say unto you whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven here again we have almost the same verse as in matthew 16 i just explained what it meant now you have it again in matthew 18 and again the greek meaning means whatever is already bound in heaven is to be bound on earth it carries authority if you bind the same things are bound in heaven you carry authority if you loose what is already loosed in heaven your words carry authority but if you step out of that since if i preach anything not in this book i have no authority it means nothing what does the bible say that's where i get all my authority from that's where i get my boldness from my confidence as a preacher my clarity as a preacher i get it from this book i'm a post boy don't don't think i'm any great preacher i'm not all i do is try to expound what is written here i don't want to add to it i don't want to take from it i am a postal boy all i do i don't write the letters i deliver them to you i try to pick them up in this bible pray over them and i go up to your front door knock on your front door in these zoom meetings and i say i've got a letter for you from the most high one that's all i am and you know what any preacher any postal boy who at the end of your garden starts opening your letter and looks at the news and say she won't like that i'll put a line through it and i know he he'll get angry over that i'll put a line through it and you start writing on the letter then you seal it up then you go up to the door and you put it in you know if i was that person i'd open that door and go how dare you my letters how dare you remove anything i want the message that was sent from me to me but it might make you sad it might grieve your heart i want you to be happy i don't want to say i don't want you to get a letter that's negative no preacher has that authority since we need to get this clear in our mind i'm only a preacher i want to be a faithful preacher and when i'm faithful i have authority and i speak with authority you know why i know what heaven has said and when i begin to bind and loose i am in line and step with heaven but this last one in matthew chapter 18 binding and loosened through church discipline what is the context of matthew 18 the binding and loosen is it different than the other two yes it's different but it's still binding and loosing still the same principle still with the authority of heaven in verse 18 we abide in and loosen what does it mean look at verse 15 go back three verses and you understand what it means verse 15 moreover if thy brother a christian a believer in christ someone who's born again moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee or sin against thee so jesus is teaching here what to do in the church if another christian sins against you speaks against you hurts you or does something deliberately that is a sin against you personally he teaches you what to do most of the church don't know this they read it in the bible they say they believe it they have it in their mind but they never practice it this what this chapter teaches i know very few churches that practice this i mean really practices very few christians and yet they know it they do not bind and loose look at the context if your brother sinned against you what do you do you telephone 10 people you email about them you you you have a skype message or a whatsapp or are you facebook about them no it doesn't say that jesus said if your brother a real christian sin against you what's the first thing you do you go to them what's the hardest thing to do when your brother sins against you go to them that's the hardest thing in all the world it is not easy you're gonna have to pray you're you're gonna have to be christ-like to actually go to that brother without speaking anyone else is going to take all the grace in the world but jesus commands it this is binding and loosen welcome to the real world of binding and loosen you don't believe in binding and loosen if when your brother sins against them against you you do not go to him why do you go to him you go to him that's our responsibility why is that we must be direct honest and impersonal communication with the person who sins against us you haven't done anything according to god's will unless you go to them just them and you no one else just between you do you know why you do that it gives an opportunity to clear up a misunderstand they might say forgive me i'm so sorry i really i really it was an accident i shouldn't have done that will you forgive me yes if you've told nine other people you better go back to that other nine you're in a problem but you know what you can protect that brother or sister because now it's just between you and them and they say i'm so sorry will you forgive me and it's gone no one else knows about it but also it gives an opportunity for either maybe it was a misunderstanding they tell you oh but you don't understand and you go oh i misjudge you forgive me you could have talked about that person and yet it was because you didn't understand something jesus says go to them he also says tell them their fault between you and them alone alone only you and them the word tell him in the greek there means admonish convict or convince to reprove a rebuke now i want to tell you something about today's church and this is true of leaders pastors mature christians as well as new converts and i'm sorry to say this but if you go to your brother when they do commit a sin and it's a real sin against you and you begin to show them you go to them doing what jesus says and you begin to show them what their sin is and you begin to encourage them to deal with it nine times out of ten you're going to get an explosion a volcano you're going to get attacked i'm sorry to tell you that but i'm just telling you the fact that doesn't mean you don't do this you've got to do this this is church discipline this is a part of binding and loosen you know it says over in luke 17 and 3 jesus speaking again take heed to yourself if thy brother trespass against thee rebuke him and if he repent forgive him everyone in the church today say we've got to forget everybody all the time and say it doesn't matter that is a false teaching that is a false teaching from the heart we forgive everyone those who do us wrong our enemies but that doesn't mean we ignore church discipline if they don't admit their sin if they don't repent if they don't receive the word we don't ignore that it's a real issue in the church and this is all through the church and it's not dealt with i'm telling you the third aspect of binding and this is it what do you do with this issue in the church look at verse 16 but if he will not hear you what are you going to do you rebuke them and they get angry and they accuse you of the very thing and you know it's not you what are you going to do then just say well i love you brother i'm praying for you no it says then take one or two more with you this is binding and loosen this is the doctrine of open the door closing the door we're going to see if the door closes on this individual or remains open on this individual either this person is going to find a door in front of their face or it's going to remain open this this means sin has to be dealt with in the church you can't ignore it jesus teaches you don't have a choice what you do when someone sins against you you don't have a choice well i'm praying asking god guide me what to do yes pray but you don't have the right to decide what to do the bible says go to them point out the sin and if they don't receive it take another person or maybe two other persons that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established verse 17 and if he shall neglect to hear them tell it to the church oh no we can't do that tell it to the church go public oh oh no it would make them embarrassed we we want to keep this private you don't have that right you you can't make that decision no preacher can make that decision no bible teacher here christ is teaching about binding and loosen using church discipline in the local church i don't have a right how i run this church i don't have a right to make these decisions do you realize there's seven years in this church and and for almost 30 years of ministry i have never thought i have the right to decide on these factors i simply do what i'm told and as a preacher i want to enforce it if i'm a good preacher i want these things to operate in this church if you come to me complain about someone have you spoken to them if not we that that needs to happen you you really need to do that this is what jesus said it said if he doesn't listen to those two or three people and he rejects it and he refuses do you know what you're to tell the church but if he neglect to hear the church let him be unto you as a heathen man and a publican do you know the local church isn't just to lie anyone in you say oh but we're a church of love and grace and forgiveness and we're not allowed to shut anyone out who says you didn't get that in the bible jesus didn't say that he actually said if someone calling themself a christian walks in sin keeps offending people keeps talking wrong hurts people in the church you think i don't have power to deal with that you think we as a church cannot deal with that and stop it either you're going to change or you're going to be put out of this church no that isn't being unkind that is protecting the church that is loving the church that is obeying the lord jesus christ more than that it is binding and loosen this is what it is we're opening the door we have the right to shut the door lock the door or we have the right to open the door we can forgive you as a church and open the door so you come back and have fellowship with us or we have the right to lock the door and say you you need to stop that before we let you back in here we love you we pray for you what's one corinthians five all about it gives a list there of various things if it's in your heart you're you're to put that person out of the church fornication drunkenness other sins if that person who calls himself a christian will not depart from that we're to lock the door we're to purge out the leaven we're actually to not tolerate this you're not to have a cup of tea with them if this church has put someone out for sin or someone has departed because of sin don't you go and have a coffee with them until that is right if it's a sense of a sinner i i would sit with homosexuals in this city they can eat at my table the the worst lesbian can can come in that door two lesbians could come in who are sinners and sit in that church and i won't even blink an eye not at all the door is wide open for sinners to come hear the gospel but that christian who's proud and arrogant they're not coming in that door it won't happen do you know what this is not my teaching this is the teaching of jesus i'm just obeying his command i'm scared to do anything else i don't have a right to make decisions on this i'm following scripture whatever is bound in heaven i can bind on earth whatever is loosed in heaven i can loosen earth and it's all in accordance with we as a church have authority according to the book and listen verse 18 after saying that if he doesn't listen to the church let him be onto you as a heathen man and a publican in other words as the worst sinner on the high street the the worst outcast that man who says he's a christian if he's going around sinning against people in the church and he will not repent let him be treated like the worst scum of the earth jesus taught you this and then the very next verse listen verse 18 verily verily i say unto you whatsoever you shall bind on earth should be bound in heaven and whatsoever should be loosed on earth should be loosed in heaven or turn that around whatever is bound in will be bound on earth since what a simple teaching about binding and loosen matthew chapter 12 it it's not just speaking the spirits out there or i bind you spirit of nicotine no you need to stop smoking it's not a demon it's your flesh that's all it is some of you you could bind the spirit of poverty no you need to go get a job stop being lazy do you understand me the church is filled with crazy teaching this is dynamic matthew 12 we cast demons out of individuals and they're free and they have a glorious testimony amazing people are going to get saved out of demon possession and they're going to be possessed by jesus christ christ is going to live in their hearts matthew 16 i as a preacher have authority to bind and loose what this book does i can open and close the door of the gospel and third of all bind and loosen has to do with church discipline in this church we we deal with sin we deal with issues you're not going to speak anywhere way and get off with it do you know what it's going to go like this first time we may ignore it we may pray be praying into it saying oh god deal with them we don't like to expose or deal with things but when you deal with it lord but you know what i don't have any choice at some point i'll have to speak to you or you will have to speak to me or you will have to speak to your brother and sister do you know what this is it's a protection on us you can't act or treat other people anyway in the church you can't it's not okay you can't treat your wife anyway you don't have that authority you can't treat your husband anyway or your kids you you can't conduct your marriage according to your own thinking you don't have that right you've got to conduct it according to the bible amen will you pray with me here as we close i know there's been more of a bible study here these are the crumbs off the table they've just rolled out over from other other messages but an important teaching because i don't want you to be confused i want you to understand what binding and loosening is we are operating in these things but i want us to have clarity don't get involved with all that false teaching speaking into the air binding powers and principalities over limerick doesn't accomplish anything go preach this gospel go preach go evangelize go reach your family get into a prayer meeting this is true spiritual warfare and we've got an awful lot more to say in this but let's pray here together father i do thank you for the word of god so simple so clear so pure so black and white we do not have rights to make decisions about how the church functions how we function as preachers and as leaders as individual christians we don't have that authority we only have the right to bind and loose what is already bound and loosed in heaven we only have the right to preach what is taught in the bible we only have the right to discipline in the church what we are commanded to discipline in the bible and lord jesus i worship you i love you you were the greatest and are the greatest teacher that ever walks in the church we we accept your ministry of teaching not only your salvation ministry and your deliverance ministry and your healing ministry but we accept your teaching ministry we believe what you say in this book we believe in casting out demons we believe in the authority to teach only what this teaches we believe in the authority to put out those that will not repent of sin from the church lord god i receive your teacher ministry we believe it we want to walk in it we want to be instructed and we want to grow in it that we might grow into you our head we love you you are the only head of the local church you're the only head of the body of christ worldwide we only have one divine teacher one divine authority we only have one head of the body and you are it and we love you because you're not a hard task master you loved us you suffered in our place you died in our place you took our burden of sin upon you and you suffered that we could be totally forgiven and go totally free and be delivered from demon possession that we'd be set free from all the power of darkness amen amen praise god ======================================================================== Video: https://sermonindex2.b-cdn.net/Ugb0q2aMbeQ.mp4 Source:
