It explores how God's act of sending His Son to die for our sins, condemning sin in the flesh, and redeeming us from the curse of the law through Christ's sacrifice demonstrates the depth of His love and righteousness. The message underscores that God's active involvement in Jesus' death is crucial for our justification and salvation, highlighting the profound love and sacrifice displayed in Christ's crucifixion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTENT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If God were not the main actor in the death of Christ, then the death of Christ would not save us from our sins, and we would perish in hell forever. The reason the death of Christ is the heart of the gospel is because it was God's doing. Romans 5, 8, God shows his love for us. God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died. God shows his love in that Christ died. If you try to separate the activity of God and keep his hands clean from this murder, you have no gospel and you have no love. Romans 8, 3, sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh. God condemned my sin in the flesh of Jesus. When the skin tore, it was my sin being punished. This is love beyond degree. Galatians 3, 13, Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. God cursed Jesus so that the curse could be taken away from me. Second Corinthians 5, 21, for our sake, God made him to be sin, who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. If you take God's activity out of the death of Jesus, we can't be justified by God. It wouldn't have anything to do with God. It would just be a tragic, circumstantial, historical event. Isaiah 53, 5, he was wounded for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. God wounded him. God crushed him for you and for me, and we go free. ======================================================================== Video: https://sermonindex2.b-cdn.net/PdBYS5IEKuk.mp4 Source: https://sermonindex.net/speakers/john-piper/why-did-jesus-die-for-us/ ========================================================================
