It encourages giving God the majority of the conversation, listening in quietness, setting aside dedicated time for Him, and seeking Him in nature and solitude. The sermon also highlights the significance of praying together with trusted friends to bring light into areas of life and find encouragement in seeking the Lord. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTENT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I think one of the big keys about deepening your intimacy with the Lord in prayer is that you understand that you're coming before a King of Kings, you're coming before the Lord of Lords, and you don't, you don't dominate the conversation. You're not as one who comes with a lot of words and wearies the Lord with them. You come, if you were coming into the presence of a King and you really wanted to know Him, you would give the majority of the conversation to Him and be the receiver. So when we come before the Lord and we want to seek Him, that's the first thing, is give Him the majority of the conversation in quietness and rest. Listen to the Lord. Set your heart on Him. He will come and He will speak to you. That means times alone with Him, making margins for quietness, just, you know, before even praying, you should be spending a good amount of time in just silence before the Lord. You should be taking walks with the Lord in nature alone. You should be observing a Sabbath unto the Lord. You should be spending time where even your family members and everyone knows that this time is unto the Lord and it's set aside that you would be spending time with Him and that you guard that time in a sense in a sacred, very sacred way that people wouldn't trample that. I think of prayer as while waiting upon the Lord, seeking Him, resting in His presence, listening is probably the biggest key, and I think we all struggle in that regard, to just be at rest, listen. And the other aspect I think that is important is to pray together, not just in secret, but with other brothers and sisters, maybe one or two or three, because they can also bring light in areas in our life as we pray together. It's very encouraging, so spending long seasons of prayer together with some other trusted friends who are seeking the Lord is really important. ======================================================================== Video: https://sermonindex2.b-cdn.net/rcVvYaIZ59M.mp4 Source: https://sermonindex.net/speakers/don-longworth/how-can-believers-deepen-their-intimacy-with-the-lord/ ========================================================================
