======================================================================== THE CHILD AND THE BOOK by D.L. Moody ======================================================================== Summary: Christ is willing to carry our heavy loads and burdens, just like a loving father carries his child. Topics: "Burden Bearing", "Dependence on Christ" Scripture References: Matthew 11:28 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ DESCRIPTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------ D.L. Moody illustrates the comforting nature of Christ as a burden- bearer through a touching story of a father and his son. The son, eager to help, struggles with a heavy book and ultimately breaks down in tears when he cannot manage it alone. The father, seeing his son's distress, lovingly carries both him and the book upstairs, symbolizing how Christ carries our burdens when we are overwhelmed. This sermon emphasizes the importance of relying on Jesus to help us with our struggles and burdens in life. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTENT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I like to think of Christ as a burden-bearer. A minister was one day moving his library upstairs. As the minister was going upstairs with his load of books his little boy came in, and was very anxious to help his father. So his father just told him to go and get an armful and take them upstairs. When the father came back, he met the little fellow about half-way up the stairs tugging away with the biggest in the library. He couldn't manage to carry it up. The book was too big. So he sat down and cried. His father found him, and just took him in his arms, book and all, and carried him upstairs. So Christ will carry you and all your burdens. ======================================================================== Source: https://sermonindex.net/speakers/dl-moody/the-child-and-the-book/ ========================================================================
