======================================================================== EXERCISING OUR OPTION TO EXPERIENCE GOD by A.W. Tozer ======================================================================== Summary: The greatest need of humanity is to experience God Himself, and this is due to God's nature and humanity's purpose. Topics: "Communion with God", "Experiencing God" Scripture References: Genesis 1:27, Psalm 42:1-2, Isaiah 55:6-7, Jeremiah 29:13, Matthew 5:6, John 15:15, Acts 17:27, James 4:8, 1 John 4:8, Revelation 3:20 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ DESCRIPTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A.W. Tozer emphasizes the profound need for humanity to experience God, highlighting the intrinsic relationship between God and man. He explains that God, being the essence of life and love, created man in His image for the purpose of communion. This relationship is mutual; both God and man find fulfillment in each other. Tozer notes that while God is self- sufficient, He desires a voluntary relationship with humanity, respecting our free will and the sanctity of our choices. Ultimately, the sermon calls believers to actively seek and exercise their option to experience God in their lives. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTENT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Without doubt the greatest need of the human personality is to experience God Himself. This is because of who God is and who and what man is. God is the essence of intelligent, self-conscious life and man is created in His image. God is love, and man is made for God. God and man exist for each other and neither is satisfied without the other. Though God is self-sufficient He has sovereignly willed to have communion with the being He made in honor next to Himself, and He takes every means to secure this communion short of coercion, which would be a violation of man?s free will. Were God to override our wills He would be forcing Himself upon us and by so doing would make us a little less than human and so a little less than the being He made for Himself. ======================================================================== Source: https://sermonindex.net/speakers/aw-tozer/exercising-our-option-to-experience-god/ ========================================================================
