Beware of the thing of which you say--"Oh, that does not matter much." The fact that it does not matter much to you may mean that it matters a very great deal to God. Nothing is a light matter with a child of God." Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His HighestChambers makes a good point here and I thought that it was worth sharing. The fact of the matter is, we can walk in an upright manner, but still have idols in our hearts. Many times we don't even know they are there, but they are hindering us from walking in complete communion with Christ. Then there are other times when we recognize the heart issue but refuse to deal with it, as I think was the case for Asa. We must remember that God knows our heart and He desires it to be pure and set apart for Him only. May we be like David and say, "Search me O God, and know my heart, try me and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead into the way everlasting."
