HAILEY — Jew and Muslim, Catholic and Native American, Buddhist and Baha'i, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Evangelical Christian — spiritual leaders from across Idaho and beyond convened Wednesday inside a heated marquis at the home of Kiril Sokoloff to chat with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Sokoloff is the man responsible for bringing the Dalai Lama to Idaho for a five-day visit.

The interfaith dialogue is part of the Dalai Lama's goal to connect with people of different faiths whenever he can. It's his desire to promote understanding of "commonality and not our differences," he said.

Religious diversity is important, he told the group.

"With 6 billion human beings on the planet, we need this variety of approach to spirituality. The need for understanding is very, very important," the Dalai Lama said.
