| Which version of the Bible is better? | | Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. Stay with the KJV it can come to you in the night, stiring life within you. It can be planted into the soul, passages never memorized, are just there within. Yep, The KJV has my vote. dullrainbow _________________ Eileen Teitsworth

| Re: Which version of the Bible is better? | | Somehow two threads posted here when I tried to do one, so I guess I'll say something meaningful here:
II Peter 3:3-4a "Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts. And saying, Where is the promise of his coming?"

The most informing of Gods word. When truly in the Holy Spirit, it reads as the living word of God, that comes alive in his presence. Through which he speaks to us, the secrets that he wants to tell us. Father to child.
Amen.

AgapeObadiah The last half of this sentence is very important. Thank you for bringing it up. _________________ Ron Bailey

| Re: Which version of the Bible is better? | | dullrainbow,
Interestingly enough, the NASB comes to me in the middle of the night too. It comes to me in the middle of the day as well... both day and night watches. There are plenty of passages I know as well that I've never memorized, yet are just there when I need them. Now that I'm learning Koine Greek in seminary, I can't wait until this starts happening in Greek as well, especially with the NA27 and UBS4 texts. Then again, it might happen with others as well. Either way, it will be the Holy Spirit. _________________ Jimmy H

| Re: | | I never understand why people make such a big, big issue out of this.
Yes, it is true that so many of the modern translations and paraphrases are terrible renderings of God's holy Word. I would agree that they should be avoided. However....
What is, after all, the big deal with the KJV?
I, for one, prefer other translations - not just because they are more readable - but because they are even more accurate (try, for instance, the ASV, Darby, RSV, or even the NKJ, Holman, ESV... but *none* of these, or the KJV, will translate every verse as accurately as possible every time).
Certainly, the KJV may be more preferable for beauty and form, but that is not always the "be-all and end-all".
Just my thoughts. :-) _________________ Daniel
