| The Voice that Walks. | | Gen. 3:8, And they heard the VOICE of the LORD God, WALKING in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD amongst the trees of the garden.
The voice walking, maybe i am readin to much into this, but is it possible that the Voice and the Word from John 1 is the same? As in, is in, is it possible that the "voice that walks" is like the "angel of the LORD" in many instances, a preincarnate Christ? _________________ David

| Re: The Voice that Walks. | | The word translated 'Voice' in the KJV is the word 'kole' in the original hebrew this word can also mean 'sound' thus the passage can mean,
Gen. 3:8, And they heard the sound of the LORD God, walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD amongst the trees of the garden.
which is actually the rendering in more modern translations.
However that is not to it was not a pre-incarnate Jesus walking in the garden, we know from Colossians 1:16,
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
this shows that all things were created FOR CHRIST, He is the centre of creation (of course by this i dont mean God the Son Himself was created) and we were created for Him to have fellowship with Him so it logically follows that He would walk in the garden in the cool of the day to be with those He created to have fellowship with. _________________ matt

You will find a very interesting study, if you look at 'mist' and 'cloud' and the number of times a 'voice' or the presence of God is associated with it. There is also a brightness associated, often, although there is sometimes a clearness, which could have more to do with flame / fire. The voice reappears in the context of the Shepherd, who in eastern countries leads his flock by calling the sheep after him. |

| Re: | | The voice of God is present throughout Scripture. I believe the voice represents "The Counselor." Listen to Solomon write of the work of the Holy Spirit.
Prov. 8:1 Does not wisdom cry out, And understanding lift up her voice? 2 She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, Beside the way, where the paths meet. 3 She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city, At the entrance of the doors: 4 To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men. 5 O you simple ones, understand prudence, And you fools, be of an understanding heart. 6 Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, And from the opening of my lips will come right things; 7 For my mouth will speak truth; Wickedness is an abomination to my lips. 8 All the words of my mouth are with righteousness; Nothing crooked or perverse is in them. 9 They are all plain to him who understands, And right to those who find knowledge. 10 Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold; 11 For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her. 12 I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And find out knowledge and discretion. 13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate. 14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength.
Here the Spirit is with men:
2 She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, Beside the way, where the paths meet. 3 She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city, At the entrance of the doors: 4 To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men.
Again listen to the Spirit's call in Proverbs 8;
32 Now therefore, listen to me, my children, For blessed are those who keep my ways. 33 Hear instruction and be wise, And do not disdain it. 34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. 35 For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the LORD; 36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; All those who hate me love death.
The Spirit is the voice and it has always sought those who would live by faith according to His commands.

inotof,
Yes. Very much so. The other Voice that Walks is the Shepherd leading the sheep all over the Old Testament and then, in John 10. |
