Vanity, or Spirit and Truth

I want to encourage anyone to listen to this short (27 min) audio from Chip Brogden. I have many of his tapes and love his teaching.

Greg, I'm not sure if you would want to offer this audio or if you have to get permission, etc... anyway here it is- well worth the time!!!

Quote-

"Jesus says, 'You hypocrites! You draw near to Me with your mouth, and you honor Me with your lips, but your hearts are far from Me.' May God turn our hearts back to Him..."

In His love, Chanin

I was led to go and read his writings early in my walk for awhile. He is quite prophetic! :-o

I think I have briefly listened to this audio sermon. But I am weary about alot of Charismatic speakers in Christianity and that certainatly reflects in the chosen speakers on this site.

I am listening to this message ;-)

 Re:

I just finished listening to the sermon and he deals quite well with what is a hypocrite and how Jesus used it in Scripture. It's intresting that Jesus was the only person who said: "hypocrite". This makes sense, Jesus is the only one sinless that could tell people this.

I am not sure if I agree much with the idea of a person feeling compelled by God to spit on the floor and say this is what God thinks of your worship. hmmm well thinking about this more, I have been reading ezekiel and God got him doing some weird things to show how far the peoples hearts are going from God.

Here is a great quote from the sermon:
"Jesus Christ needs to be our passion, not convience, but our reason for being."

 Re:

Greg, I am sorry about the Url thing. I do see where you are coming from. He has come away from much of the charasmatic stuff in these past couple of years.

I, myself have come away from all things charasmatic (even though i was not really into it) but many would say i was "prophetic". Is there no middle ground here?

This is strange to say but I am not in favor most charasmatic "happenings"- yet there is no doubt that the Lord is speaking to certain people about specific things.

When he mentions spitting on the floor- is this not something dramatic that a preacher from past generations would be called "brave" and "on fire". Haven't past preachers, etc.. done dramatic things like this to make their point?

Maybe this is why there are no "on fire" preachers who only preach the truth because when they do every one questions them and persecutes them. Do they have to be dead before people will listen or believe?

I am sorry, I don't mean to get worked up but i know that today when people try to preach as one of the Spiritual giants did- they are persecuted and questioned and practically hanged. No wonder there are hardly left. We have to have room for the new people God wants to use. I am saying this because I could be one of them, you could be one of them.

I honestly am only asking these things out of love. I do not mean to upset anything or to criticize. I am only honestly looking for answers too.

Again, I am sorry about the URL thing, I didn't know.

In His love, Chanin

Yes but he seems to really be seeking Jesus and not worrying much about the problems or movements around him. The focus should always be on Jesus.

YES, the more I thought about it the more it fitted in with scripture and how other preachers made points.

NO, apologies necessary. I got quite zealous awhile back telling everyone about watchman.net! Yes let God raise up His people for this generation.. Use US Lord for your glory!

Just to clarify for everyone else on the forums. I have had to make judgement calls over what is considered spam and promotion over just telling people about a great site or resource. And to be partial and fair I am asking people if they have a website that they would recommend that it fit in with the conversation in the forums and not just be a blatant ad for the site. I know most people have good intentions but some people will have bad :-(
