 WHEN CHRIST BE OUR CONQUEST

TEXT: MATTHEW 13:45:46

''Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:/Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.''

As the rising of the sun puts out and makes of no moment other lights, so the discovery or owning of Jesus makes earthly things of little consequences. When any truly finds Christ, his hold on other things becomes a loose sort. When Jesus reaches our hands, and is really possessed by us, many things fly away from us on their own accord. He who has Christ and still racks himself with anxious thoughts of the cares of this life, Christ is of no profit to him: for when Christ steps into any life, storm and disquietude
are arrested. He who finds God, can boldly put all his earthly wares for sale, probably, as it were, to make space for 'more' of Him. The owning of Christ strengthens us to bear adversities; endure persecutions and enable us to smile at storms. The joy that comes with Christ, overshadows or eclipses any kind of sorrows. It still remains a mystery to the saints, that when Christ is let into a life, desires for other things die or become subservient to Him. His appearance is exclusive, eclipsing and dethroning. In my moments of deep adversities and temptations, I have found the presence of Christ as a strength and a mitigating agent. Oh what of earth can a saint not let go, when Christ is in sight, on site and available, as a living bread, for a daily bite? Ah! how light is the weight of the whole world unto a man who has Christ as his booty, reward and conquest! Christ's followers are company of 'care-less' folks: for the words of their captain, 'let not your hearts be troubled' thunder in their ears all day long. Any who is a possessor of that man of Calvary, no loss can unsettle him, for Christ makes amends for every loss! No harm is done to a Christian, if Christ is still in his possession. Nothing draws sea of tears from a saint like the desertion of Christ: and it is heaven to him when Christ returns to him. Satan knows, even though he can take away our goods or relations from us, that never can he part us and Christ: this is one of his greatest nightmares on this side heaven. 'Praise God' may all the redeemed say, 'we have found a pearl of great price, Christ Jesus!'
