TEXT:ECCLE. 12:7; HEB. 10:5

''Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.''

''Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:''

The body and soul, on this side heaven, are forced into some kind of partnership by the overriding will and counsel of their creator: there exists a sort of marriage or affinity between this two, their de-affinity can only come by death. This co-existence between the body and soul, is for the purpose of God's Kingdom: the spirit, which is the real man, if he must fulfil God's purpose, stands in need of the body---without the body, the spirit and soul cannot exist here. The soul's bent and direction is upward, toward his maker, hence to make him resident here, he needs the body; the body detains the soul or spirit on this side in order for the fulfilment of divine purposes. The parting of the two, is the commencement of eternity for the soul: but to be capable of holy duty here below, the soul must be rest content to live in the body and be driven by the former. Friends, as our Lord says to His disciples, 'Without me ye can do nothing' thus can the body say to the soul, 'without me you can do nothing in this earth!' Oh soul, quarrel not with the body, if thou must fulfil purpose, for if thou doest, thou mayest not have a pin to hold you down here, where the field of thy assignment is! The body is the peg that pins down the soul to this earth, if it be taken off, the soul flies away to the sky. Friends, see to it that your body is often rested and refreshed: otherwise, it may revote against you and your utility and serviceableness here would be stalled on this side heaven. Your body is prepared for you by God to do His will: a sin against it, is a sin against God and divine purpose. Keep it pure, free of damaging elements. Oh brothers, see to it that the soul and the body never kiss themselves goodbye until you have accomplished the purpose why the two are married here below. No doubt, the bill of divorcement for the soul and body is already drafted, and the bailiff to serve same will surely come for service on the body: until then, oh soul, tends and nurture it, fitting it for divine purpose.
