Say not: 'I am a child!':
For no duty canst thou not abide,
If God with thee dwell:
His assistance who can tell!

He sendeth none in his might:
The strong are as ant in His sight!
He must lean on God's hand
Who'd in His work profitably stand!

Thy back but turn on thy wisdom;
Labour not for any carnal freedom --
Self-sufficiency and self-dependence:
Prefer strangling to His absence!

Go then in His strength alone;
Before Him, thy might, pray, bemoan:
His wisdom, power and promise,
Cry after: that thou workest not amiss!
