 Motivation

Mar 10:28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.
Mar 10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
Mar 10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Vss 28, 29 are well engrained in my mind. But why have I missed vs 30 up until now. You'd think that with all the "prosperity" teaching these days, it would be as commonly recognized as John 3:16. Well, it may be to you. but not me. I have done 28, and 29 many times, without hope of recompense. My wife spoke it in a conversation we were having. I told her it was NOT IN THE BIBLE. WRONG! I repented and apologized. Now that I do see verse 30, I'll have to ponder it and listen for HIS voice of revelation.

The material things do not motivate me, at all. And the LORD has restored my dwelling place and transportation. But my family is chaos. They are forced to contend with bad choices from days gone by. I love them all, all 8 of them. But they are eating q bitter harvest from seed sown in years gone by. They need a strong awakening, and resurrection from themselves, and the death sin has caused. When I see some of them, there is a coolness between us. We smile, we hug. I love them, they love me. But they seem to want to talk about the very thing that holds them captive. And they shy away from conversation with me, that may lead to hope and joy in HIM. They know I know the way out of the maze. But they just can't seem to lay down their sins past and their hope for revenge of past hurts, from which they can find no hope in the world. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing the word of GOD. Deprive yourself of HIS word and you suffer from spiritual malnutrition. You become weak, and an easy prey for that old roaring lion. You know, the one with no teeth.
I would tell them to take their burdens to the ROCK of Ages, and lay them all down, knowing full well that I at times I need to do the same thing, and I don't. Then HE reminds me, and I repent, and HE picks me up, dusts me off, hugs me, and we go on together. All the while flesh wants to explore every side road there is. They are all wide, easy, and oh so attractive. So HE must keep me on a leash, lest I fall into the very next cesspool of "my will" that comes along. Thank YOU LORD.

Php 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

I agree that I need the "will", and the "do", but too often I'm looking to man and his devices as the source of this change. But deep in my heart, I know that is possible only by HIS merch and grace. Do you see that "For it is GOD"? which worketh? That means that it has only HE as it's fountain of power. There is nothing in this world that can release this Crimson flood of unmerited love and grace. Yet we burn up so much time in planning and scheduling, resources and energy attempting to do what only HE can do. We look to others, rather than HE. If we have chosen to live for HIM in such a way that pleases HIM, we must submit to HIM in meekness and humility, and ask HIM for this eternal change, that surpasses all understanding. Lay down all religious pursuits, and look to HIM. No journey required. No event to attend. No other to call upon. And there is no hope for joy, no matter how diligent and convincing your attempts may be.
It's time to repent, yet again. And instead of reaching into your worn out bag of good resolutions, reach out to HIM. Confess your faith in what only HE CAN PROVIDE. Nothing to say, no creed to write, just look to HIM, let HIS SPIRIT groan within, if need me. Wait while HE works. Only HE can, and HE will, if we ask HIM too. Will I? Will you?
What then? WORSHIP will happen, not by our choice, but HIS. Worship is HIS good pleasure. It's not a decision. It is HIS presence within. Man can only worship in HIS presence. And in HIS presence there is fullness of joy. And the joy of the LORD is our strength.

Shalom and GOD bless you,

Bro Lahry
