So, I have been reading Isaiah and I have come across an interesting passage.Isaiah 22:15-25 has a prophesy against a partcular individual named Shebnah, who is mentioned multiple times in the Bible (2Kings 18 and 19 and Isaiah 36 and 37). The man is in the demoted position (scribe, as opposed to ruler of the household) already. So Eliakim son of Hilkiah has already been elevated. In trying to reconcile how it is that Shebnah has not been taken captive, my only guess is that the man repented upon hearing the prophesy of Isaiah OR at least after his demotion began.I would like anyone interested to look at those passages and pose some alternate possibilities if possible to help me think through this! Thanks in advance!Nate
I must say this is one of the more obscure questions I have heard- well done!It seems that there are two options: the prophecy was fulfilled, or it wasn’t. If it was fulfilled, then we aren’t told all the facts. I.e. it is not recorded in scripture how Shebna was exiled. If it was not fulfilled(ie God relented), I think your speculation is likely correct.
