There is less money to be made for pharmaceutical companies by promoting diet and exercise.

I've come across a number of people who lowered their cholesterol just by using diet (steel cut oats, fiber rich fruits/veggies, etc.). I even had a family member (age 60+) who had cholesterol slightly above 200. Using a healthy diet alone it was lowered to mid 100's in about six weeks. I remember reading a study that if you keep your cholesterol below a certain number you will probably never have a heart attack. But some doctors will prescribe medications immediately.

Anxiety as a risk factor probably is related to stress which compromises the immune system.
