Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Several questions to be answered in trying to understand this text, and those of Romans 8. "US". Who is he speaking of when he uses the term "US"? The obvious answer is those who walk "after the SPIRIT", and NOT after the flesh. How is the "law" fulfilled? Those who walk after the SPIRIT walk after obedience. The HOLY SPIRIT cannot lead anyone into SIN (unrighteousness in disobedience). Impossible. SIN is ALWAYS walking after the "flesh". To walk after the "flesh", quenches the life, influence, and work of the HOLY SPIRIT with in. We turn to doing our own will, what we want, rather than do the work that HAYAH is doing in our midst, in our life personally, and the lives of those we meet day by day.
So, there are two kinds of "church people". Which are you? And how can you be sure that you, myself, or anyone else are walking after the SPIRIT and not after the flesh? The very next vs tells us.......
Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Simply examine yourselves and what is important to you, what you're passionate about. Same with others. YESHUA said, "out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh". LISTEN. Listen to what you enjoy conversing about, and what those who are in close proximity to you. Is it about minding the things of the SPIRIT? Or is the dialog limited to what concerns or benefits the flesh? Well?
Which group do you want to be a part of? Which are you a part of? And is there cause for concern that perhaps you need to change? The word is not going to change. REPENTANCE is all about CHANGE. True repentance is EMPOWERED by ONLY the HOLY SPIRIT.
2Co 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
There are only two groups, my friend. Those who are "sons of HAYAH and those that are not. Question is, are you?
