 We met together last night

We had our first Wed night prayer group since the virus crisis appeared and social distancing was more or less mandated. About eight of us attended and we sat sort of apart. There was a great deal of sobriety among those attending. They all spoke of having more time for communion with the Lord and times for self-examination. This time apart, this time for a reset, appears to be working. What baggage can we shed that hinders us in our walk and effectiveness carrying out the Lord's will. It's hard to believe that other believers everywhere are not undergoing the same. I shared a bit about the patience of the saints which is translated many times as constant and enduring perseverance in the midst of afflictions, trials and even persecution. Lasting Spirit powered ENDURANCE is going to be needful in the days ahead, even if this virus eventually subsides. It won't be endurance in our natural strength for sure, Natural strength and tenacity for God is not going to be able to cut it. The more God can move us away form our own natural strength (the purpose of tribulations?) the more His resurrection power will be able to shine forth in the days ahead. Everyone at the prayer group had a new seriousness and sobriety.

9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all PATEINCE (constant abiding endurance) and longsuffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. (Colossians 1:9-12)
