MORNING CONTEMPLATION
TOPIC: OVERCOMING LOVE PT2
TEXT: SONG OF SONGS 8:7

''Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned''

The love that springs from God, is invincible--it can never be overcome: it is an inferno that can never be put out; a swimmer that can never be drowned by any kind of flood. No amount of silver or gold can purchase it: hereby, dear friends, we can test the godliness and heavenliness of our love, whether it is celestial or terrestial; heavenly or earthly. That love that springs from what meets the eye, is carnal and earth-concieved. Any love that exists in the absence of gifts, silver or gold, can be set down as heaven-born and of God. Witness the language of this kind of extant love:
'Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.' Hab. 3:17-18. Nothing of heaven can actually be purchased by money. He who sets price on his love, is ungodly and no saint; those whose loves for God or men, are not bottomed or planked on any earthly bounties, are as mount Zion, which can never be moved. True love says, 'Though He is a-slaying me, yet I would still be a-praising him. It should be said of our love as it is of wisdom: 'It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.' Job 28:15 Oh! man wilt thou know whence comest this love? It is not of this world: 'Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.' God's kind of love, the only true love, grows not in nature's garden; its nursery is situated and lies in paradise! Oh! Lord, inflame my heart with this celestial and seraphic flame, the agape love! Amen
