 Truth for life

Sharing another devotional 😇

Without water the tree cannot flourish or even exist. Vitality is essential to a Christian. There must be life--a vital principle infused in us by God the Holy Spirit--or we cannot be trees of the Lord. Being a Christian merely in name is a dead thing; we must be filled with the spirit of divine life.

This life is mysterious. We do not understand the circulation of the water, by what force it rises, and by what power it descends again. So the life within us is a sacred mystery. Regeneration is performed by the Holy Spirit entering into man and becoming man's life; and this divine life in a believer afterwards feeds upon Christ and is in this way sustained by divine food, but how it comes and where it goes who will explain to us?

What a secret thing the water is! The roots go searching through the soil, but we cannot see them suck out the various gases or transmute the mineral into the vegetable; this work is done down in the dark. Our root is Christ Jesus, and our life is hidden in Him; this is the secret of the Lord. The source of the Christian life is as secret as the life itself.

How permanently active is the water in the cedar! In the Christian the divine life is always full of energy--not always in fruit--bearing, but in inward operations. The believer's graces are not always constant motion, but his life never ceases to palpitate within. He is not always working for God, but his heart is always living in Him. As the water reveals itself in producing the foliage and fruit of the tree, so with a truly healthy Christian, his grace is externally displayed in his walk and conversation. If you talk with him, he cannot help speaking about Jesus. If you notice his actions, you will see that he has been with Jesus. He is so full of Christ that He must fill his conduct and conversation.

 Re: Truth for life

WOW!! This says it.

"Our root is Christ Jesus, and our life is hidden in Him; this is the secret of the Lord. The source of the Christian life is as secret as the life itself."

We have been regenerated and have been infussed with Christ's Life. He is our Root and our life. We are full of HIM!

 Re:

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,
to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, - Ephesians 4:11-13

We are filled with the fullness of Christ as we “know” Him more and more.

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith-that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. - Ephesians 3:14-19

We are filled with the fullness of Christ WHEN we through prayer are strengthened in the inner man by the power of the Spirit so that we experience deeply His love.

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, - Ephesians 1:17

We “know” Him and thus are filled with Him when the Spirit reveals Him.

Union with Christ (rest) is most Biblically not communing with Him. John 15 makes clear that abiding/communing with Christ is where and how His life flows through us in more and more abundance. Fellowship with Him is where knowing Him, becoming like Him and being filled with Him happens. Primarily this happens through prayer, faithful obedience and the sacrifice and suffering that are a consequence of such faithful service.

Knowing Jesus.....becoming like Jesus and being filled with Jesus all are
fed by faithfully following and obeying Jesus which according to Scripture. means loving the brethren and being in unity one with another.

I didn’t quote all the Scripture that supports the idea that knowing Jesus in the ways God has provided is exactly how we are filled with His life and become like Him.

It’s definitely not a mystery. God has made the way of being filled clear.

 Re:

Oh, The depth to this devotional !,.. remarkable.
Thank you dear Bro.
—————
The Water is a sybel of The Spirit,..There is no Life w/o The Spirit.
It is The Life of the tree (us),.. with this Life-giving Water that feeds our roots, that came from The Seed (The Spirit/ Word), at His Calling, ..our repentance/turning,.. are planted / born again into God... to draw of this Life-giving Water continually....Our roots drinks from the wells of Living Water.
————
Job 29:19,
“19 My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.”
————

Like as The Water for The tree, is like unto the Bread for the soul.
.... it must be made Alive,.. and we know that only God can do that.

Mt.4:4,
“¶ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
———-
.. it cannot be the written word, (bread alone/) w/o The Spirit / quickened Word (Bread Of God,...The quickened Bread) (Word) within.
———-
Jn.6:58,
“This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.”
....
Jn.6:63,
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
————-
.....every Word that precedeth from the mouth of God is Life,... (Alive) and has Life-giving properties.

This is the secret: Christ lives in you

Colossians 1:26-27

The mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints.

For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.

Christ abides in us so now we can respond to that fact and abide in HIM.
