"Pilgrim and Sojourner." - 1 Peter 2:11

 William Tyndale

Tyndale said:
They have ordained that no man shall look on the Scripture, until he be noselled in heathen learning eight or nine years and armed with false principles, with which he is clean shut out of the understanding of the Scripture.

He was tried on a charge of heresy in 1536 and was condemned to be burned to death, despite Thomas Cromwell's intercession on his behalf. Tyndale "was strangled to death while tied at the stake, and then his dead body was burned"

Lord, give your people grace to hear and keep your word that, after the example of your servant William Tyndale, we may not only profess your gospel but also be ready to suffer and die for it, to the honour of your name;

 Re: William Tyndale

This man is a hero of the faith. I love his story.
Like all of us he was a flawed man but thecall of God rang true his entire life.
There is a pretty good film made during the 80's
Called 'God's Outlaw' by Grenville Film Productions.
Worth watching.

I believe that the executioner had pity on Tyndale and strangled him before the flames engulfed him.

Thank you, Lord, for this man who loved You and Your Word so much that he wanted everyone to have access to it, not just the clergy and the elite.
A true man of God whose legacy endures.
