In the Youtube message Gethsemane's Cup https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6XIF5ErnRU. someone asked Leonard Ravenhill what Seminary does he recommend. He said forget it. Instead read these books:1. The Life of George Whitefield (2 volumes)2. The Christian in Complete Armour by William Gurnall3 The Biography of John Sung4. The Life of Samuel Morris5. Fair Sunshine - Jock Purves 9.99
Yes in a different recording he also said read 1st and 2nd Timothy. 100 times if you want to be a leader in the Church. I personally feel this is a great recommendation as there was one young man who wanted to be a leader and I told him we will go through 1st. Timothy once I got to the 3rd verse expounding it in detail he said "no more". He felt the responsibility of leadership was too much and he did not feel called. So immersing ourselves in what is the responsibility and weight of a calling can help us determine if we are truly called of God or not.

I have 3 of 5. I really liked Fair Sunshine, but I liked Jock Purves' other book "The Unlisted Legion" better (one of my all-time favorites)

I have a hard time listening to Leonard. He just seems all over the place and maybe that is why it takes him an hour to preach? It makes me dizzy somewhat. The list of books he recommends............'Fair Sunshine' is a reformed book. I am a bit shocked at that one because the reformed people are not pentecostal but they did preach the Gospel and were severely persecuted. In looking at all of these books each one of them has a point to make in their own way. It looks like Leonard lists this because they have something to tell the Christian from various views?I am a sucker for books and my impulse is to get all of them.

Whitefield and Gurnall are reformed as well, the others I don't know.
