 FIRE

Believers also go through “burning fire”.

1 Pet. 4:12 (KJV) –
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

Barnes’ Notes on the Bible:
The word rendered "fiery trial" (πυρώσει purōsei) occurs only here and in Revelation 18:9, Revelation 18:18; in both of which latter places it is rendered burning. It means, properly, a being on fire, burning, conflagration; and then any severe trial. It cannot be demonstrated from this word that they were literally to suffer by fire, but it is clear that some heavy calamity was before them.

 The Refiner's Fire

MALACHI 3:2-3 –
But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap.
He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the LORD offerings in righteousness.

Ps. 66:10 –
For Thou hast tried us, O God;
Thou hast refined us as silver is refined.

Malachi 3:3 says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver."

She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.

The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy - when I see my image in it."

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

 Re: The Refiner's Fire

A PICTURE FROM NATURE

When sand is heated up to a very, very hot temperature it magically transforms into transparent glass.

New Jerusalem will be of pure gold like transparent glass (Rev. 21:10-21).

How?

Through "fire".

Heb. 12:6 –
FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES

Heb. 12:11 –
All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

James 1:2-4 –
Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

James 1:12
Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him

ADD:

Isa. 26:9 –
For when the earth experiences Your judgments
The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

 Re:

BAPTIZED WITH FIRE

John the Baptist said:

Matt. 3:11 –
“As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

Comment:
To be baptized means to be immersed in and to be immersed with.
Therefore, Christ immerses us in and immerses us with FIRE.

 THE LAKE OF FIRE

SCRIPTURE

Rev. 20:10 (YLT) –
and the DEVIL, who is leading them astray, was cast into the LAKE OF FIRE and brimstone, where are the beast and the false prophet, and they shall be TORMENTED day and night -- to the ages of the ages.

Rev. 20:15 –
And if anyone's name was NOT FOUND WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE, he was thrown into the LAKE OF FIRE.

Rev. 21:8 –
But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the SECOND DEATH.

(Emphasis in caps mine.)

NOTE:
====

It is written that Satan is tormented in the Lake of Fire.

BUT it is NOT written that man is tormented forever in the Lake of Fire. Rather, man’s fate in the Lake of Fire is the “second death”.

Any comment?

 Re: THE LAKE OF FIRE

Jade. Have you considered this text, that concludes one of the most important passages in all the Bible, as given directly from the mouth of the MASTER?

Mat 25:45  Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
Mat 25:46  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

....OR THIS?

Rev 20:14  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

 Re:

Hi Lahry,

Thank you for your response.

MATT. 24:45-46

WHO are the goats?

Are you 100% sure that you are not one of those condemned "goats"? Remember, Christ is the Judge, not you yourself.

Note that it is "nations" that are judged in this parable.

Consider the judgments against the nations in the Book of Isaiah. Babylon, for example.

REV. 20:14-15

WHAT is the second death?

Re: No debate to it. :)

I shared with you what the WORD says. I do not like to go beyond that "which is written". Thank you for your comments. Be blessed.

 Re:

Hi Lahry,

Quote:
I do not like to go beyond that "which is written".

Scripture does interpret Scripture and “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Ps. 115:109).

I think there are too many interpretations of difficult Bible passages based on much human wisdom and opinions that are then taught as pure and God-given truths.

I follow the view that Scripture passages that are difficult to understand should not be used as a basis for establishing doctrines. Our doctrines should be based on Scripture that are clear and are supported by other Scripture that are clear.

Blessings
