How to best to protect yourself and your family. Have a warrior's heart.

The Christian Warrior's heart:

All loyalty, devotion and life fully committed to Jesus and His cause. Fully engaged and wholeheartedly focused on following, becoming, proclaiming and overcoming.

This warrior never gives up and he never gives in. He presses in and he presses on to the upward call of God in his Christ. He is relentless.

You just cannot be that warrior in the comfort of your own home and in the arms of the world and its pursuits. In the OT, Uriah refused to go home to the comfort of normal life while his brothers were engaged in battle for their king and his people.

We have so thoroughly convinced ourselves that our only war and battles are within ourselves and within our homes that we have lost the warrior spirit to advance a kingdom. . The truth is the Christian only wins personal and home battles when he fights them advancing the kingdom outside the home. Uriah would not give up the fight for the kingdom of Israel or give in to comfort. David lost his personal sin battle and his fight for his family at home at the very same time when he stayed home and fell into the arms of the world and Bathsheba all when he should have been at war. By not going to war, he lost himself and his family.

Finally, to eliminate one more excuse, Caleb was volunteering and going out to war at the age of 80 with the spiritual strength of a young man. He was regarded by God as full of faith and completely loyal and trustworthy to the cause of God.

Of course, I'm talking to men and women here. But men are to lead their family by example, not by surrender, resignation or avoidance You simply cannot "follow and be like Jesus" unless you have His warrior heart to be faithful to His Father and His people by laying all down to obey the call to advance His kingdom. Following Jesus and becoming like Jesus means as much as anything else, to have a warrior's heart that never gives up, never gives in, presses in and presses on........... outside the gates to bear the reproach of Christ.

There is no place more dangerous to your soul and to your family's spiritual welfare than to be caught up in the things of the world, the things the pagans chase after, the distractions from war, the domesticators of the warrior's hearts.

Jesus needs mighty warriors. So does your family.
