 Pike's 'Persuasives to early piety'

I came across this small volume in reading the biography of William Chalmers Burns (the mentor to R.Murray McCheyne). It is said that Burns' sisters were pleading with him to consider Christ and gave him this book, which eventually lead to his tear-filled conversion.

JG Pike's writing is a plea for young readers to remember the creator in the day of their youth and gives a logical & persuasive look at counting the cost. The unique readability of the book is refreshing & designed to be a contrast to the tendency of men waxing eloquent during the early 1800's. The challenge offered to the reader is given through a man desperate to make Christ and Hell known to the cold hearted masses.
SIDE NOTE: Spurgeon was also an admirer of Pike's works, wrote in a review, "This work is too well-known to need a commendation. It has done good service in the world."

This book is sure to be a blessing and has helped to assist my personal communication / gospel witness. (Several sites offer free PDF versions and the actual book is easy to find & rather affordable on sites like ebay etc). A tremendous resource for parents, teens and young adults.
